Dan Improvement Thread!

I know what Dan really needs, he need Super Armor on all of his taunts just to make playing with him even more fun :rock:

Guys, I have an idea for his second Ultra. He just stuns the opponent with a punch to the jaw, does some epic Legendary Taunt while the screen constantly shines with that Ultra Finish Sunrise BG and ends with some epic Gadouken.

Super armor on his crouching taunt would be cool.

That and a QCF+K command roll. Just more greifing options in general. Maybe his back dash is twice as fast, but his forward dash makes him trip.

Funny you mention that. I’ve thought he needed a command dash that results in him tripping in lieu of a roll. It would still go under fireballs and would have the added benefit of being mildly confusing when it is mistaken for a regular dash and be humorous to boot.

Dan needs an ultra taunt that can be cancelled in from his super. It summons Tweleve

He just needs taunting to be able to build meter.

It would both give Dan the little extra stuff that he needs and still keeps Dan… Dan.

Building meter gives Dan a couple of more tools, Dan must manage his meter skillfully to have a fighting chance. Against a lesser opponent it nets you some funny times but the super taunt to further insult someone not of your skill level more so.

But it would also annoy (hopefully) your opponent enough to get close to you. Not only by boasting, but building meter while doing it. Dan has trouble getting in, especially against better equipped characters. The opponent really has no reason to get close to Dan if they have a life lead. This mechanic might actually make that a bit easier on Dan.

These are just suggestions. And maybe a tad bit of a stamina buff. Just a tad.

Otoko Michi would complete my life, but I like the idea of everyone else getting better and Dan staying the same. Dan is as awesome as he is because of the lame-factor! Taunting shouldn’t give you anything except the astonished reaction of a hyped up crowd; unless, of course, they have damage taunts like 3rd Strike. I think everyone agrees that damage taunts would be the best.

Many people ask for otoko michi, i wouldnt like it, because, otoko michi is somehow like shissho buraiken, i mean, the movement is about Dan running foward into the opponent trying to catch him, which probably wouldnt be linkable. I would prefer that they raised shissho buraiken’s damage output and for a second ultra, something new, that is linkable and with a lesser damage output compared to this improved shissho buraiken, but, if otoko michi came as a secret move aside from the second ultra, then, no objections, but its just my opinion.

Higher stamina, same level as Rufus or Gief, and super armor for aerial taunt with a better recovery when landing would be nice as well imo

Higher stamina would certainly help Dan get in on opponents but he’s not a huge Russian or big fat American so doubtful they’d give him that much. Dan’s meant to be like S class in taking beats, I’d like him to have a little extra than Ryu and Ken (like 50) just to acknowledge that really.

As for his taunts, if they’re going to give him anything then a little meter like back in Alpha.

Shissou Buraiken’s damage seems fine, wouldn’t complain if it did a little more but it does seem to do a fair amount. A new Ultra that he can KRK FADC into having around the same damage as Sakura’s would be nice too :slight_smile:

I want a Saikyo Shin Shoryuken type ultra that ends with a taunt.

I can see your point, but about the stamina, capcom doesnt seem to follow much the logic about the characters, otherwise, Akuma certainly wouldnt be as fragile as he is now(not to speak about Seth), and even if they did, a Dan with high stamina could be justified due to him being ā€œusedā€ to take so many hits and his perseverance. As Zangief says when he beats Dan: "I toss you around like a ragdoll, yet you stand again! I admire your heart!"
By the way isn’t shisshou buraiken’s damage output same as Sakura’s ultra? because if it is and if they put a second linkable ultra with the same damage output, probably people would hardly choose Shisshou(thats why i suggested a higher damage for it)

Shin SRK-like rising gut punch, then Dan turns to the camera giving a thumbs up (whilst his opponent is still ā€œsittingā€ on his fist), followed by a series of rapid, almost vertical, gut punches and finally the epic Kouryuken ender. That’s how I see it working at least ^^

Shissou Buraiken - 319-465
Haru Ranman - 307-435
Metsu Hadouken - 273-398

To be honest I thought it did closer to 500 max but seems pretty average compared to other Ultras, never really had any gripes about its damage. Wouldn’t mind pumping it up to 500 max and having the new one doing somewhere in the middle of Sakura’s and Ryu’s whilst being able to KRK FADC into.

As for his stamina, just don’t see them giving him much more than Ryu and Ken, Zangief’s seems silly to me though but 1100 I’d certainly be happy with, 1050, like I said, would be a nice nod to his ā€œS classā€ taking beats skills :slight_smile:

Fireball Fix

Wrote this out some where else, seems like a good fix to me… keeping Dan’s personality in check but recognizing they have made him playable in this game.

Straight up, capcom should steal more stuff from SNK for dan buffs. Ryo makes due with his bullcrap, crummy half screen fireball, dan should be able to as well.

Just a thought.

Dan just needs some faster normals. Dude plays like he’s underwater.

Oh, and make the opponent lose ultra meter whenever he taunts.

I like some of these humiliation/meter stealing ideas. If Dan is going to have inferior fighting tools to directly use against his opponents, he needs to have another way to get the upper hand:

  • Taunting building meter
  • EX-type taunts that drain your opponent’s super meter, but also of course uses your own meter
  • Command throws that do next to no damage, but have a ā€œhumiliatingā€ effect, and drain Ultra meter
  • Maybe even a Genei-Jin type mode super, where for a limited time, all your landed hits drain your opponent’s meter as well as health.

I barely use dan, and I agree with more hp, and im not saying like fifty more, im saying as much as gief XD
He’d be a much better ragdoll to beat up, dont do anything to his moves though since his hp is on roids.
