Dan Combos and Glitches

You can get mp -> lp to connect completely off of a jump in attack. but its like whats the point when you can just do hp when you land.

And it’s soooo easy! In training mode, set the dummy to random block, and then go up to him and press close standing strong. If he blocks, don’t do anything, and if he gets hit, link to fierce or ex dragon punch. If you’re used to hit confirming like this, I guarantee you’ll be able to hit confirm this 95% of the time. For those of you who don’t know what hit confirming is, it’s just putting a move out there, seeing whether it connects, and if it connects, continuing the combo. You need a move that does a lot of hit stun for this to be easy, and Dan’s close standing strong fits the bill. If you have super, you can also link to the super this way.

Holy crap. This isn’t an XX; it’s a bona fide link. Drunk off my ass, my first two tries I get “2-hit combo.” And I suck at hit-confirming combos under 3 hits.

Dan’s standing medium attacks are freaking awesome.

In very limited testing, I find that s.MP->c.LP combos xx ex dankyu works on both standing and crouching. After crossup j.MK, however, the c.LP misses BUT, s.LP connects with a smaller window.

Gadouken makes for a braindead easy combo off of most of his crouching normals. Using it standalone is certainly retarded, but using it in combos is free safe damage if on-demand non-hit-confirmed koryus canceled from crouch moves are a problem.

Ive heard Gadouken combos are pretty much a no no if your opponent has ultra being it has a long recovery time?

It’s character-dependent. Some characters you should do standing jab, some crouching jab, some crouching short. Against some characters you don’t have anything that hits both when they’re crouching and when they’re standing. I’ll have a post on which to use for which character tomorrow.

I want to revisit this. No, it wont work. I cant get anything to combo off of a QCP+2P xx FADC. But. If you modify this combo a little bit ti will work, however, only in the corner. I’ll test it out after work.

j.HK -> s.HP xx QCF+2P -> lv 2 FA xx Dash Cancel Forward -> s. HP xx QCF+2P -> lv 2 FA -> Dash cnacel forward -> Ultra.

That shoudl be 4 stocks and an ultra, and completely unnecessary. lol

I figured something out all by myself. :wgrin: I know it isn’t anything much, but I’m not much of a SF person so this is new territory for me, sorry if anything like it is already up or it just plain sucks.

That combo is flashy as all hell. But it wastes too much ex meter for the damage it does. But good find dude!

Tested with various fast ultras. Was able to block the ultra after the gadou connected and was blocked.

Didn’t test Seth tho (still haven’t unlocked him).

rhymeswithaddy: I couldn’t get that to work. After the crumple and backdash, ex gadou would whiff over the opps falling body.

Gotcha, i’ll fix it. Also feel free to let me know what ive missed on the first post, and if you think something else would be a better BnB.

Edit: Actually crap, E_C, can you do his combo. c.MK xx gadouken xx FADC -> c.MK xx ex gadouken -> Ultra, and see if you can get that to combo?

Mmm, I can’t get ultra to hit after ex gadou at all … I don’t know whether my timing is off or what, but setting it on autoblock they always seem to block it. =\ Going to sleep anyway near 4am here.

Nope. I’m not so hot at doing FADC f,f combo links, but when I get the c.MK xx ex gadou to connect, the ultra is blocked

ex gadou -> ultra seems to be limited to that one rare corner situation :-/

Oh, in the video I made it qcb kk, but another gadou or dp should connect in it’s place, the only reason I did qcb kk is because it looks flashier. :lol:

Edit: Mmm, I thought about how the EX Gadou gave a little extra time to connect another move, so instead did a cr mk, ex gadou, FADC, st HP, qcb HK and got some more damage … sorry if the notation is off, don’t really know how to say things correctly yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah Abel got me with an ultra, i tried to do EX kyaku on reaction but it ended with my foot going through his face and him hitting me lol.

EX dan kick has kinda bad priority, lots of pokes beat it outright.

Also, if you get a chance to combo with something big, use crouching fierce instead of standing fierce… it does 5 more damage points heh.

Ok, the combo damage scaling is making me a sad panda.

(corner-only) lvl3 FA f,f s.FP xx EX Gadou xx lvl2 FA f,f -> Ultra does less than 10 extra damage than lvl3 FA,f,f -> Ultra

Other misc combos I’m starting to use:

If you manage to hit opp high in air:
LP Koryu -> EX Koryu
LP Koryu -> EX Gadou
LP Koryu -> HK Dankyu (last two hits; very hard)

(corner-only) s.FP xx LP Koryu -> EX Koryu (kinda inconsistent for some reason)

And for the inevitable combo movie:
(corner-only), lvl3 FA f,f s.FP xx EX Gadou xx lvl2 FA f,f s.FP xx LP Koryu -> EX Koryu

Grr at all his corner combos; it’s MvC2 all over again, heh.

Ok, my ghetto focus cancel strat does work. I got some shoto doing the roundhouse speedbump combo, focus dash back, ultra his roundhouse attempt :rofl:

nice reliable poke combo upclose is close s.LP, s.LP, far s.LP, s.LK

In any case, after Dan transitions from elbows to his palm hit, hit the s.LK.

I think with Dan, it’s your best bet to just push your opponent away from you and create some space. Since he cant combo anything usefull off of a light attack combo as far as I know. Doign what E_C said is best. Theres a couple of variations. like cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.LP, s.LP, s.LK. or cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.LP, s.LP, s.LK.

The point being is to push them out and get into a range where you can go for a jump-in attack or land an anti-air koryuken or what not. I guess you could try for some mix-ups, and only do like 3 hits and then go for a throw or stick out a s.MP and hope for a hit confirm into koryuken.

err, i feel like shotos like distance. Too far away and they start thowing hados like they are going out of style. EX hados/sonic booms beat FA/canceling and jump-ins are a shoryukens best friend. Im going to exercise my back dash tonight and see if I cant make anything happen.
