Dan Combos and Glitches

Question

Opponent is hit with level 2 focus in corner, is it better to do straight cr.hp to super or use gadouken ex focus attack lvl 2 dash cr hp gadouken ex level 2 focus attack dash cr hp hk dankuu?

Super will do more damage, though you don’t want to cancel a c.HP since that’ll probably push them out of range. On everyone but Cammy (I accidentally wrote “Crappy” first, Freudian slip? :P) and Sakura doing s.HK xx Hisshou Buraiken (QCF+HK QCF+P) nets the most damage, against those two they’ll be pushed out of range so probably best to hit them with a straight Super.

Does corner help vs those characters?

I’m inclined to say, “no” but I’m not 100% sure on that. I’ll have to check it later when I can be bothered :stuck_out_tongue:

Finally checked it, funnily enough with Cammy s.HK xx Hisshou only works if it doesn’t follow a Focus but if it does even in the corner it’ll push them too far. Works against Sakura fine though. Vs Cammy doing a Gadouken xx Hisshou or c.MP xx Hisshou will do 30 more damage than a bare Hisshou.

I’ll try against all the other characters later.

Silly way to combo Haoh, in corner after a knock down (preferably a hard one so you can time it) do a really meaty LP KRK, if it connects you can link Haoh easy :stuck_out_tongue: Think I saw Ryu do it in a combo video so I thought if he could then maybe Dan could too :stuck_out_tongue:

This probably goes without saying but just like you can connect an EX KRK (FADC Haoh) after Knee in corner you can do the same for MK and HK Dankuu if just the last hit connects.

Another silly combo, works against Zangief but I’m guessing it’ll also work on T.Hawk, Seth, Abel, Sagat and maybe Dudley.

In corner, TK Air EX Dankuu > Haoh Gadouken :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s right, some characters are tall enough to be hit by the full Air EX Dankuu when standing :bgrin:

How punishable is Air EX Dankuu on block/whiff/landing lag etc.? If its safe, I might look into using it as another form of pressure in the corner…

Hmm, can’t say I’ve really looked into it but think it recovers like Ryu’s Air EX Tatsu, definitely not as much recovery as regular Air Dankuu. Pretty sure it won’t hit any crouching characters, just something to do for fun once in a while :rofl:

You never know… add it into one of the mix ups after dankuu maybe if you only have 1 ex bar and you’re lookin to land an ultra?

Yeah, kinda like Cammy doing TK Cannon Strikes only it’s harder to do, less useful but more awesome :rofl: It’d make a good throw counter but won’t work against techs (probably).

Anyone else here utilize Dan’s far standing HK? I’ve begun using it far more frequently the past few weeks. Lots of luck using it against sweep happy Ryu players, the hurtbox and the weird way he steps back during the kick actually seem to help using it as a counter poke against low attacks.

I was messing around playing agaisn’t the CPU yesterday and I did MK danku over Viper’s U1. not sure on the timing, whether they activated U1 on block or both happened at the same time but you go over her when she slams the ground and end up on the other side.

Not exactly practical but just a little somthing. :smiley:

Okay so with TK EX Dankuu it hits everyone, against Honda I was only able to land the second hit and thus he wasn’t high enough for Haoh to connect in corner. Against Blanka it was easier to miss (needs to be done instantly rather than slightly delayed) and seemed like only last 2 hits would land but still enough for Ultra. If not close enough the first hit will miss but the second two will connect, as long as the last one hits they’ll be high enough to link Ultra.

s.HK has deceptive range but is too slow for my liking.

i was wondering…whats some good combos after stun?? Today I landed a stun in the corner, wondering what to do with my two meters and no ultra, I did a focus lvl 3, cr.hp gadouken fac lvl 2 crumple, cr.hp hk dankuu. It seemed to get scaled to shit though.

If you dizzy with a single hit, it won’t scale so much. If you dizzy in a big combo, you’ll get larger scaling. Just do your highest damage combo. Since Focus Attacks count as two hits towards scaling, and generate more stun than damage, try to lead with a j.HK if you can, I think.

Well, I DID stun with a cr.mk to ex dankuu, I think. But still, it seemed to do less than 100 damage on the last cr.hp > hk dankuu, which isnt right. Also, after a stun you’re reccomending I should do j.hk instead of lvl 3 focus? Focus does 140 damage, while j.hk does 100.

The focus imparts heavier damage scaling to the rest of the combo than a j.hk.

But charging up a level 3 does have it’s benefits. If the opponent mashes out of dizzy just as you wail on them, you reset the combo and get a free crumple. Also, level 3 is a better choice when you’re not spending meter on a longer combo, I think.
