thanks for the quick reply. it seems like neutral jump mp. is the better follow up though
HK Danku does more damage and gets a knockdown. It doesn’t work in the corner.
It’s also harder to do and seems to be dependant on how close/far you are when you do a Kouryuken.
If you can land the v.j.MP 90% of the time and HK Dankuu 10% of the time then stick with the v.j.MP (at least until you can get the HK Dankuu consistant (if you can)).
Just curious if anyone has any information on this…
If you input LK Knee as a reversal using :qcb::ub::lk:, does Dan get throw immunity via canceling the jump animation?
You can’t simultaneously jump cancel and reversal. There has to be at least a frame where you’re just jumping. For that reason, jump cancelled lariat for example loses to well-timed meaties.
So the answer is that yes you can avoid throws that way, but only if the timing is hyper-specific.
Ah. Right. Thanks. XD
Hey guys. I just got a lvl.2 Focus Crumple off of a x.up MK > Mp > Gadouken on Sagat midstage. I wasn’t paying attention and it sorta just happened. I’m fairly certain it was a MP, and I’m not sure which level of Gadouken it was. :\
Edit: Ah ha. It was because I crossed him up in the corner. Still pretty sweet though. The wall causes Dan to stick to Sagat’s back off the x.up MK, giving you enough time and space to combo into a MP xx Gadouken xx FA
After much trying it seems like it works on everyone but Sakura so far.
Nice find. But corner only eh?
Certain characters you may be able to punish anywhere with an up close MP xx Gadouken xx lv.2 FA > cr.FP xx HK Danku… but I’m not certain it’s better than the alternatives we use already.
Edit: Tested, this actually is a better alternative when you can’t punish with cr.HP xx Gadouken xx FADC > s.MP xx HK Danku. Both do 326 damage, but this crumple combo comes out substantially faster.
Edit2: A whole five frames faster. Perfect for punishing blocked Hands from Geif.
Edit3: Except I just found out it doesn’t work on Gief. T T
Edit4: So far, MP xx Gadouken xx lv.2 FA > cr.FP xx HK Danku works on Abel, that’s it.
Corner x-up.MK > MP xx Gadouken xx lv.2 FA doesn’t work on:
Ryu, Ken, Zangief, Sakura, Viper, Bison, Seth, Gen, Blanka, El Fuerte, His Most Danliest.
Corner x-up.MK > MP xx Gadouken xx lv.2 FA works on:
Rose, Sagat, Abel, Honda, Dhalsim, Balrog, Vega, Rufus, Chun-li, Guile, Cammy, Akuma, Gouken, Fei-Long (Only off of EX Gadouken).
**
Important Notes!**
close.MP xx Gadouken xx lv.2 FA > cr.FP xx HK Danku works on Abel.
close.MP xx EX Gadouken xx lv.2 FA > cr.FP xx HK Danku works on Cammy.
close.cr.MP xx Gadouken xx lv.2 FA > cr.FP xx HK Danku also works on Cammy.
Very Important Note!
x-up.MK > MP xx Gadouken xx lv.2 FA works on Abel from anywhere. This means you can go right into Ultra from any j.MK with two bars of meter.
Alright. So on certain characters (I think it’s certain characters) while in the corner. A point blank close.MP xx EX Gadouken will link into another close.MP (as opposed to far.MP).
So for 1 EX stock, I hit Ryu with: “j.RH > close.MP xx EX Gadouken > close.MP xx HK Dankukyaku” for 389 damage and 570 stun.
Neato.
Hmm… if it works on Ryu it’ll work on most of the cast I think. Did you test that on crouching as well?
What’s stopping you from doing Jump > s.MP xx EX Gadouken > s.MP xx EX Gadouken > etc. ? Shall have to play around with this methinks
Well if he’s crouching seems like you don’t need the jump in for the second s.MP to be close. Might give you an extra frame to play with, dunno. Here’s some fun combos:
j.HK > s.MP xx EX Gadouken > s.MP xx EX Gadouken xx EX Focus Cancel > s.MP xx HK Dankuu - 458 damage
s.MP xx EX Gadouken > s.MP xx EX Gadouken xx EX Focus Attack > Shissou Buraiken - 487 damage
s.MP xx EX Gadouken > s.MP xx EX Gadouken xx EX Focus Cancel > Shissou Buraiken - 540 damage
Oh, on a side note I solved the combo challenge on the front page
Not sure if this was mentioned already, but I found out something cool.
©s.MP xx s.LP/c.LP -> DP+HP works, at least on Ryu (so by proxy it probably works on a lot of people). Dan’s DP has enough of a horizontal hitbox to allow it to connect pretty consistently. This not only does slightly more damage than both variations listed in the initial post but also costs no meter.
Just thought I’d share with you guys. :china:
Here’s one.
Any lv.2/3 FA Crumple > Dash Forward > Taunt #09 > HP Koryuken
I have a question. Outside of it being hilarious, is there any tactical advantage to using Taunt 9 over any other (ie can you cancel out of it quicker?) I always use 5, because it’s a little more subtle. I wish you could hold down Taunt to have Dan keep shaking his ass.
Can’t say I’ve extensively tested the taunts but apparently #9 is either the fastest or one of the fastest when it comes to cancelling, possibly one of the most deceptive taunts.
These not-so-practical combos have probably been mentioned elsewhere, but here goes anyhow.
In the corner:
Jumping HK, cr MP xx ex gado, hp KRK (1 stock, 356 dmg)
Jumping HK, cr MP xx ex gado, hp KRK -> FADC jumping MP juggle (3 stock, 401 dmg, eww)
Jumping HK, st MP xx ex gado, st MP xx lk Dan knee, ex krk juggle (2 stock, 383 dmg)
Jumping HK, st MP xx ex gado, st MP xx hp KRK->FADC jumping MP juggle (3 stock, 421 dmg)
Even though jmp HK, cr HP xx hk Kicks is tried and true, its fun to have stuff like this handy to finish off a match.
EDIT: For combo 3 its more economical to just do hp krk after the second st MP. It still does 383 dmg and saves you a stock, just doesn’t look as flashy.
I’ve had a lot of fun lately with Gadoken xx FA lvl2. As far as I can tell, the most damaging ones are:
cr.HP xx EX Gadoken xx FA lvl2 xx dash cr.HP xx HK Danku (401 DMG 625 STUN)
cr.HP xx EX Gadoken xx FA lvl2 xx dash Ultra (502 DMG 405 STUN)
I can’t do them consistently off of a j.HK though, I’m gonna train on that next. j.HK, cr.HP xx EX Gadoken xx FA lvl2 xx dash Ultra is right behind the Saikyo Crusher in terms of damage : 522 for 3 EX bars instead of 4.
Yeah. To land cr.FP of the j.RH, you need to be deep enough, as cr.FP’s startup is “Balls-ass-slow”, to put it eloquently.
And if they block it, the blockstun isn’t long enough, so they can reversal and smack you in the face. :\
Dan’s best combo is j.RH > cr.FP xx EX Gadouken xx FADC > Ultra. 567 damage for 3 bars. Because you’re dashing directly out of the EX Gadouken, you’re chopping off two hits of scaling from the Ultra.
Aye but it’s also harder to land than after an FA2 The other thing is being able to react quickly to the situation since you pretty much have to do the motion before you finish dashing you need to recognise whether to hit PPP or B+LP+LK (or whatever :P). Another good thing about using FA2 after EX Gadouken rather than FADCing is if they block the Gadouken they might get caught by the FA2, gives you a slight second chance of sneaking that Ultra in
Must admit I don’t really use EX Gadouken much so I don’t find myself in that situation, it’s a little easier with Rose and the only way she can combo into Shamwow too.
