Here in NYC on channel 7 they did a story of this guy that got put in prison for rape for decades then decades later a DNA test was done (the woman kept refusing DNA tests previously) and it was proven the kid wasn’t his. Nothing bad happened to the woman. The man was so boss he refused to leave the prison to get media attention of how messed up the system is.

If you take a look the top 1% are selling all their stocks and investing and moving to other countries. There is no honor in the US government and big business and it’s all corruption. Anyone can call themselves a feminist, and I suppose different people can define the term in different ways. But in the classical philosophical sense, feminism is about gender equality. And from my perspective the people you’re talking about probably aren’t true feminists, even if they’d like to convince you otherwise.
I consider myself a feminist, and in this thread I’ve spoken about how men are portrayed on TV, how freedom of expression in games should be respected, and how companies have a right to do what makes them money. But you’re not going to see that on the news. What you see on the news is a pretty poor way to try and construct your reality, but that’s beside the point.
I wanted to show that feminism isn’t the problem, it’s people like Anita warping its ideals. Much like the religion of Islam isn’t a problem, but the people who warp its teachings to justify killing others with suicide bombs is.
And as a Muslim might ask for people to realize there is a difference between a Muslim and a terrorist, there is a difference between a feminist and people like Anita.
To the last sentence, this very well may be the case. People tend to play as characters that they want to see themselves as, but there’s nothing that says it has to be along the lines of gender, race, age, or whatever. Most people love Mario games, even if they’re not fat Italian plumbers or blonde princesses or weird little mushroom hat guys. There’s something more subtly appealing about the characters.
To the previous part, the fact that males still dominate the player base is, itself, something to address. As I said, there’s not really any good reason for this to be the case anymore, given that video games are no longer a niche form of entertainment. Console manufacturers have caught on that there is a vast untapped market out there outside of their old bread and butter demographic. I don’t think the third party content companies have clued in yet.

Although I don’t agree with some of Walker’s points, especially his support of Sarkeesian’s “Equality or GTFO” panel I do agree with his general view that it’s stupid to sweep the entire sexism in gaming topic under the rug as if it’s something taboo to talk about at all. When people (in this case “feminists” and their supporters) use the media as their platform to spread illogical and irrational bullshit they need to be called out and exposed for the deflecting frauds they are. As far as I see it, the only problem I see with the industry is the sheer tooth and bone that must be fought in order for a publisher to allow development for a game with a female main character(even Irrational games had to force Booker instead of their main character on to the front of Bioshock Infinite)
But even then that’s something that only effects the western game market for whatever reason, either because western developers are retarded or a majority of people who play games are grossed out by the character their playing as being into dudes
It’s funny because Eastern markets like Japan put cute girls on their game covers and we think it’s weird. They probably think Western gamers are all closet homosexuals or something.
I also find it really interesting that in a hobby supported and build up by males, usually at the criticism, and vilification of themselves by women (The over all stigmata of being a dork or nerd), that now when the women want into this hobby, they don’t understand why the boys in general aren’t that interested in letting them join in the fun.
