all these people talking about pyro, what about his brother… me??? J/K
when everyone was at FFA, i remember 1 person said “justin just got perfected by pyro”, 1 person out of like 87632476324 heads, nobody cares about this shit offline, why? cause as soon as you disagree or say something stupid, pyro was right there to most likely beat you down. as for as i know, nobody that was ACTUALLY there is disagreeing.
heres MY honest opinion
pyro beat anyone and everyone american when i was watching. anyone whos won or placed in tournies was there.
EVO is in cali so just about EVERYONE came to cali, everyone gathered in 1 of 2 spots, pyro pops up here and there and dominates anytime he plays, this is smart, he didn t need to travel and he gets to play the best in the country, LITERLY, the best in the country for a 40 min drive.
theres no other part in the US THAT packed with 3rd strike comp, there just isn t.
he didn t enter EVO, it was his choice.
if he wants to be cocky and talk shit, he can, not cause he won EVO, cause he CAN beat every american player around, you hate the way he talks? go beat him.
the funniest thing is, even with all this tension, peeps at FFA would still be mad accepting to out of towners, giving them the benefit of the doubt, being helpful, just straight out being friendly, all this shit means nothing offline.
I don’t think you should call any championship a world championship if countries around the world aren’t competing - not just US and Japanese players. _
Georgia’s whereabouts are secret. But he’s semi-retired. Frankie was ranked above Georgia anyways.
-Chupacabra: As for ‘SBO teams’, we had KO, KSK, Sugiyama, Kokujin and Daigo there. Don’t try to play sarcasm if you don’t even know what WC of 3s was.
We can still call it World Championships because, well, the best in the world were there. So there. Nyah.
We were hoping Europe might stop by (I’d shoot the shit with BillyKane for example) but I didn’t even see you guys at Evo! So no whining.
PS: I WAS up on stage at SBO2 and made a very silly announcement. It’ll probably be on the DVD. ^^;;
PPS: Looking back… Pyro, you know Mongolia nearly conquered the Eurasian continent. =P
Glad to see this thread’s cooled off for the most part, though.
Seriously though, I know you’re good and all, but what’s with the big head? You were mad chill when we talked at Evo2k3 and you weren’t like this. I’m just wondering what got you like this, don’t get me wrong… I know you’re a good player… but you still haven’t beaten me yet. =P
See you in Cali whenever it is I get there.

What about Mester or Spellmaster? Or some of those other guys?
I have no doubt that there were some great players at that “WC” tournament–but let me ask you this and id like if youd honestly answer…do you think the world cup should be held between Brazil, Germany and France? Hey they’re the best, so its the “World” cup. Italy and Argentina shouldn’t come, they didn’t make it to the final in previous tournaments recently.
It just seems arrogant to call it the “world” championship. It was a side tournament with a few good players.
A small part…of my reasons for posting these comments stem from Justin being the best American player at what are considered the US national championships. He did the best out of everyone in this country. I dont even have to mention all the other regional tournaments around the country.
World Championships of 3s was open to any entrants in the world.
We had american, japanese, and canadian players, maybe others I’m not sure.
That’s well over the majority of the 3s World competing at the tournament (minus UK/France); which I think is plenty of reason to name the tournament World Championships.
Soccer is different because it’s much more popular and played in many many many many more countries than 3s, so there would be a larger player/country base wanting to enter.
If only those 3 countries you mentioned were the only ones allowed to enter, then no it wouldn’t be the world championships because it is barring out the other contenders, we didn’t do that at our tournament.
I didnt check this thread for like a week and now look at it…
What are all you idiots tlaking about? You’re fucking playing a video game. Who gives a shit who is the #1 at STREET FIGHTER THREE THIRD STRIKE (FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE)? Do any of you actually want to be associated with something as dorky as that? haha.
Are you people so attached to the game that you feel you have to live vicariously though others acheivments in a stupid game? Are you people so out of your mind that you actully see your tournament standings as an extension of your self-worth?
Did any of you for one second think it might be kind of retarded to argue with someone on the internet about who is the best at a video game?
I dont know, maybe I dont get it. haha. Its a fun game and all but you people are getting worked up over absolutley nothing.
But wouldnt you say holding a tournament without much publicity and then announcing it to be the World Championship is a bit silly? Its a bit like if I all of a sudden declared to have the World Championship of such and such near my house but said it was open to anyone. So even though it is an open tournament there are effective bars to entry, whether or not they are intentional
I mean…were Xiao or Isse there?
Anyway, congrats on your placement in the tournament–sounds like it was fun. Its just that I find the moniker to be a bit ridiculous if you can understand that.
Uh, you sound like a scrub to me. I personally don’t like anyone trying to take away any of my accomplishments in anything, however small or large they may be. Being #1 in ANYTHING that has a large competitive following is extremely difficult. It sounds to me like you’ve never won in anything in your life, so you’d rather mock everyone else’s acheivments. All sports and the olympics could be considered ‘stupid games’ as well.
As for people getting worked up, where do either Pyro or Justin attach their self worth to the video game? They’re not arguing who is the better humanitarian, they’re just debating who is #1. Hell, they’re barely arguing with each other, it seems more like Pyro arguing with a bunch of fanboys that never placed anywhere. Im not saying everyone in the thread is like that, but a lot of posters are.
As I said before, I don’t care who is #1. At the same time, I understand just how fucking hard it is to get to the top in anything, so in one sense I respect anyone who makes it and I can understand why its so important to those that compete. I don’t like your outlook on this though.
We held the tournament because we knew there would be a large amount of players coming from around the world to evo who were looking to play 3s on arcade, not console.
There was plenty of publicity for the tournament located throughout the srk forums.
Japan and Canada were also aware of the tournament before leaving to America. How did they find out about it before hand and you didn’t? I would think a person who frequents these boards and is able to read/write in english would have a much easier time getting information than someone who has to break the language barrier.
After our match vs Xiao, Isse, and J, at SBO 2, I told them about the World Championships of 3s. Unfortunately Xiao is working and Isse/J are both in school.
Any other japanese 3s players you are curious about? I know them all. If you think you could talk to them and maybe persuade them to come next time better than I can, I’ll give you their email addresses or phone numbers.
Thanks for the support. I was glad to explain the international ties with the name for you.
