I got a question to FFA (or anyone who knows, just so I show no bias)
You guys have obvious connections and communication with the Japanese right? They seem to praise you well. In Japan I hear they do character specialist rankings or some sort and put them on magazines or post them or something. Any idea where you guys stand in those rankings?
Imo that is kind of a weak excuse. If its really that much of a problem for you, couldn’t you build a table or something that you could put a stick into so it wouldn’t move and it would be at cabinet height? I understand that it would be a bit of work to solve the problem, but why would you let a simple problem get in the way when instead you can solve it? I might build something like that for Evo next year, and charge people like $20 to use it haha. Or maybe not. Still, I really think you should have gone this year, and should go next year, and just try to get used to console sticks somehow. Not a flame to you, I just think you should reevaluate your position.
I went, I was glad I didn’t enter, it was such a let down this year. When I saw how 3s was being ran: random pauses, shit breaking down, people playing on their laps/floors, and even having to play your matches while looking at the tv from a side view? It was just lame.
I don’t even know how people can take the results of that tourney seriously with such a bad medium for play.
If next year is on PS2 I won’t play on that either because there are differences between the two games.
I’d rather stick with the world championships of 3s next year, they have the top japanese players and the equipment to have a real tournament. The only thing this years Evo had over WC of 3s was a big screen and a lot of chairs.
i’ve already explained myself, and why i’m a troll. i respect those that deserve respect, and pyro’s just too caught up in the compliments that the japanese give him. i’m sure he’s a good guy in person, except he’s only humble to those who are better than him. that’s why i troll him :o
now as for the whole evolution supergun console blah blah blah debate…just accept it for what it is pyro. if you don’t want to play, then you won’t, and you don’t have to. but people will always shit on you because to them, evo is evo. and how can you possibly say that whoever isn’t better, or isn’t #1, just based on the fact that the premises have changed? and because you aren’t there…it’s your choice to not be there, so you’ve given up the right to argue your opinion over what happens there. if people deem justin as #1 and you as neglible, then they can. YOU chose not to be there. that’s as absurd as me claiming you can’t be #1 yun because you’ve never played me. obviously since i choose to not appear in the tournaments, i can’t dispute what happens as a result of the tournament.
Good post man. You pretty much got it all down to bone. Exodus, you got a problem with pyro oh well, you take it out on him on your own grounds or something then. What’s the point of trolling then? What’s the point of trying to start some kinda mess? I still don’t see any kind of point from you on the matter rather than repeating that you’re doing it for fun. Whatever beef you got with pyro that’s between you and him so keep it that way. Let’s not forget your stupid elitist attitude that you had in your JWong thread a while back, I honestly didn’t know much of your problem with pyro…granted I don’t even know the guy and I’m “sorry” that I didn’t pay witness to him being arrogant but whatever keep the drama elsewhere cuz I don’t care about it…I only care about the game. I believe it’s the same with a lot of people here.
Also you admit that you’re not that great at 3s. So why beat down on another’s skill level if you haven’t even played the person let alone do anything recognizable yourself? You got some problems with the scene that’s YOUR problem, no need to spread your shit.
I’ll end my post saying that third strike is a great game and I look foward to playing some of you people (and maybe even exodus if he grows the fuck up) in the near future…especially when I move to cali. I like to think that I’m at least an average player and I know a good amount of the game so I wouldn’t mind putting that shit to the test.
EDIT: Btw I did say long ago to you to wait and see what happens at evo to truly determine how much of number 1 that Justin can be. The events spoke for themselves. Wong plays well but he’s still overrated, just deal with it.
deadspace: i don’t think you’re reading these forums very well…if you did, you’d realize it’s not even about pyro at all. but since you don’t care, i guess i’m talking to a wall. so nevermind.
by the way…this is a forum for a reason right? why would i keep it to myself? that’s contradictory
I spoke on topic with what you’ve been saying about pyro and I think I’m pretty much on topic about you being an ass. And either way it still stands that you should lighten up no matter what and ditch the drama. Everyone agrees that it’s time to stop.
Edit: Weird…I know that big dave is the last one to reply to the topic but it still says that I am…
KO and Daigo missed a lot of links/supers that they even told me was because of the sticks/uncomfortable setups. In fact a lot of the 3s japanese players told me they didn’t like the setup.
I personally did not want to enter a tournament where I knew that my skill level/execution would be in jeopardy because of issues I have no control of.
And exodus, I told you justin is #1 in the usa, thats fine, but ffa is above the rest of the usa. We’re our own 3s country.
Its really sad to see all this hate towards Kids that dedicate soo much time to a game they love . I have to admit that this year at Evo the setup for just about every game was terrible. I saw a guy playing St that had a nice brand new $170 Mas stick that continued to malfunction due to the fact that Mas uses really crappy multiplatform pcbs in the consrtuction of their arcade sticks, and because of this he was almost was disqualified because of the lack of knowledge from the judges that were judging the match. I then had to watch him argue for a half hour so he could just get another chance.
And for the 3s setup i will give them props for using superguns but that still didnt solve the problem of the crappy mas stick they let the americans use during finals. The stick had crap concave buttons that arent really good for anything but start buttons. I watch pyro and other great players often enough to know that you simply cant react fast enough with garbage like that. And for the haters of FFA that continuely talk trash need to chill out and understand we dont play this game to hate on each other but we play to learn and strive to become better and better, and of course to have a good time. I go to FFA all the time and i may not be in with all the guys there but when i play they show respect whether i win or lose. Dont judge a book by its cover and dont just say they are all arrogant just because of a few things people say on these forums. I hope all the haters have a chance to someday go to FFA and understand that everyone there are genuinely good people especially pyro and Frank3s which are probably the nicest guys there . P.S.
Pyro wooped wong like he was playing on dreamcast in Training mode.
i know, i saw japan players as well as US players miss alot of shit, in all tournaments. Yet it didnt not affect the results, the same people got the same places for the most part. Except mvc2.
true, i didn t like sitting on the floor at EVO just to get some kind of decent “trust” in executing things, but the FFA tourny was held on cabinets players knew had diagnol problems, so both balance out. both were good in their own way guys:)
Pyrolee is really good. Pyrolee has the potential to be number 1 in the USA. But there’s nothing to back up the statement that he is top in the states. According to tourney results, Justin is number 1 in the USA in 3rd strike.
Hopefully this year, Pyrolee can go to some majors and win, but until then, he can’t say that he’s top.
Yes Evo was console based, but MWC and ECC were not and hopefully will stay arcade-based next year.
