SKJ

can someone rename FFA to nebraska #2?

Do I have to apply for a visa when I visit FFA? Do they accept US Citizens passport and documentation?

Har har I ar teh jokerz.

Sure dude. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Forgive my ignorance but what does FFA stand for? Oh and I truly hope that Sanford attends next years EVO, that will re-ignite MVC2 popularity; making one of the most highly anticpated matches of next year!!!

FFA means free for all.

Exodus vs Pyrolee

SOMEONE HAS TO TAPE THIS SHIT!!!

Both of you should play for slaps. Money is no good anymore when things are so harsh.

ok, you guys need to get off Daigos/Wongs nutz. BTW what does FFA mean?

So then whats the verdict? Who’s the best 3s player in the US? All I know is that Justin has won a number of 3s tournaments in the past year. The only videos I have of pyrolee playing are where he gets DESTROYED by Paul Lee in a Regency Monthly tournament. Who is Paul Lee anyway? How does Hsien rank?

I have a few PyroLee vids. Some winning and some losing. Over all pretty nice:)

You know, it’s really sad that people are using Justin and 3s merely to troll forums and start shit. I only read the last few pages (haven’t seen Justin’s post) but this disappoints me.

Look Exodus, we’re cool with Justin at FFA and we’re glad that he brings a top-notch Chun Li to the table. We also don’t care who’s #1 or whatever. We do care about top-level competition to give Japan a run for its money, and the Japanese players love the competitive spirit at our arcade. When I told KO that there were people in the US who said FFA sucked, he was like, “uhh… WHY?”

But when people like you and Buckner(well, he’s chill now ^^. Sorry man, but I need to use you as an example) start shit just to start shit, it’s really pointless and all it does is ruin the game for everybody. Buckner didn’t even start shit to be mean, he did it out of a misguided attempt to bring competition to Nebraska. But you’re just being mean, and nobody appreciates you for it.

Your skill level at 3s and whether you want to back shit up or not isn’t even the point. You’re basically being a troll, getting your kicks out of starting controversy. That’s just not cool.

Really, I’d like nothing more than all of us 3s players to be chill with each other and have fun playing hard games and learning new stuff. Fuck this #1 overal crap, we know Justin has #1 Chun in US, even better than a lot of Japanese Chuns (perhaps #2-3 in Japan). That’s all we really should be concerned with when it comes to 3s. Whether Justin’s Chun goes against Pyrolee’s Yun is more of a matter of character vs character strategy and tactics, and a high-level match like that should be fun to watch.

And we will all admit, FFA’s sticks have some problems with strict diagonals. Plus the fact that people aren’t used to Head to Head cabinets. It’s hard to find a setup that both people are comfortable with unless everyone’s used to it. I do wish Justin played his Chun more at FFA, but he was trying to keep his Chun secret until his battle with Pyro. And I understand that. But if he does come back down here, we’d love to play against him just for the sake of good matches, honor and props be damned. And if they want to settle who’s better in a 3 out of 5 match, any characters, that’s their OWN business. Don’t be a parasite and try to leech attention off of their battle.

Seriously, there isn’t any point in trying to start shit with Pyro, and he’s a really cool guy in person. If you disrespect anyone, it’s only natural that they’ll dis you back, and a lot of us roll our eyes when we see you post now. But seriously, it’d be nice if you could be cool with us and approach us as a fellow 3s player.

Also, I apologize for talking shit earlier in IRC and stuff. I’d rather put shit behind us and get rid of all this in the scene.

No hate in 3s.

and the “smaller” events…
like…
don’t forget TX Showdown 4…
he’s still technically #1 here in the Southwest…

I’m just posting to thank whomever posting that video. I haven’t really been paying attention to fighting games lately but that was very much worth seeing.

As for the people trashing the guy that had this happen to him, hey SFII is 80% experience, 20% practice. If he threw a super out in that situation it is probably because he never experienced playing someone who could parry Chun Li’s entire super like that, and that’s just as much the fault of the weak competition over here in the USA for not preparing him for that scenario. Now if he is in that scenario again and he sees someone walking back and forth measuring the distance so that he can parry Chun’s super, he will know what he is doing and not throw it out like that. It isn’t like the guy just busted this out at random, he was measuring the distance so that if he went for the super he could execute his counter. The American player didn’t pick up on this and was baited into using his super and that’s why he lost. Oh well. This is SF, live and learn. Or don’t learn, suck, and spend time making fun of players who are better than you on an internet forum. The choice is yours.

WRAP!

Big|Dave top 8.

FFA peeps are mad cool

the best is to see different play styles clash, especially character specialists vs character specialists, not just cutthroat chun and ken all the time. ken is a standard character everyone should have handy or keep around, but character specialists are what keep the game interesting IMO. think how predictable shit would be if it was only ken and chun all the time, FFA brings shit to the table with a wide range of character specialists, but can also keep up in top tier vs top tier matches, you got to respect that. combining the best of casual and tourny, getting good enough to use their favorite characters in tourny.

making the game fun again, making the brain tingle, 3rd strike y’all:cool:

well arlieth, i’m glad you came out and posted that. and yes, i’m a mean evil troll who loves nothing more than to rub arrogant people’s faces in. i admit it. i’m an evil troll :stuck_out_tongue:

that aside, i know that you guys at FFA are good, and deserve the respect and recognition that you do from everyone (US, japan, canada, the world, etc). however, whenever i read yi wang’s or pyro’s post, and yours at times, i got the feeling that you guys were rather arrogant, and wanted to be heralded as the best in US. i don’t say that this isn’t true in terms of player ratio, or even pyro being the best. but it’s not about that. you don’t see justin going around saying “IM THE SHIT IN MVC2!” or ricky and choi running around saying “IM THE BEST IN CVS2!” [these are all for the sake of argument, i don’t care if ricky/choi isn’t best in CVS2] –

honestly, i’d love to play you guys because competition is something i never really get. i only have one friend who seriously play, but we see each other every few months. i’m glad that there’s a concentrated area of 3Sers still in the US, because it keeps the game going.

i’m ranting now…so i’ll stop. basically, i applaud humility and spit at arrogance. and i could deduce that some of you guys were just not respecting US 3S in general, mainly because you are applauded by the japanese. and that’s just fucked up.

so fine, let’s be friends. just don’t be an ass about rankings. competition always exists in life…learn to accept it and then play against it. don’t look down and talk down at it. you’ll only get trolls like me who do nothing but harass you on forums.

let me just add, exodus is cool in real life, he ll argue with you if YOU WANT, but he s mad chill and doesn t start shit. he s real cool guy. he s one of the few players who places at tournies on the EC with yun.
its just online, he picks at shit.

btw- he gets owned by sticks for free, the jap cabinet is a must next year:D
man, i m gonna get so many peeps to come with me next year, i got 2 guys off the bat, 2 more who taught me, 1 ken and possibly a yun now, also a ibuki is possible.

like 7 heads huh? gonna have to come 2~3 days earlier to rest. 3rd strike y’all:cool:
