Dunno what video you were watching, but the only way that Justin’s c.mk would have connected with anything in that instance was if Diago stuck out a c.mk of his own. If Diago hadn’t, then Justin would have just whiffed since he was just too far away…

Daigo’s not gonna retire. That guy will still be playing SF at 65. You can’t get that good at something and then just give it up.
You’re right that Justin took an early lead, but he did not have momentum at the end of the match. He had just spent the last 15 seconds getting rushed down and the best he could do was jump out of the corner and hold UB for 10 seconds.
The reason everyone is praising Daigo for that performance is that he was clearly at a disadvantage but the pressure didn’t get to him. On the other hand, the pressure destroyed Justin because random half-screen super was the scrubbiest thing he could have done. So, yeah, Daigo shouldn’t get 100% credit because he didn’t force the error but you can’t say he got lucky either because Justin deserved to lose that match for that mistake.
The reason OG players like Daigo is because he punishes every mistake, no matter how minor.
I think we will be talking about that damn match till we’re 65.
