Cvs2 team formation: discussion/suggestions, etc

no homo

youtube that or something, be nice to see what you guys are using or playing. I can always read to understand the concept but I find it better to see it in a game to get a better understanding of how its done before I attempt to try it myself.

oh my god john is so gay.

and so is ryan.

lololololol

my lineups for cvs2
a - Honda, Sagat, R2 Ken/Bison
k - Chun li, Ken, R2 Ryu
n - terry, rock, R2 kyo/ken/chun li

any suggestions for my n groove line up. i am kindy iffy with terry and kyo

If you can stick with Bison for R2 instead of Ken and place him over either Honda or Sagat for your A-groove team.
K-Chun is not worth it but if you like it then work at it.
Try Rock, Ken, Chun for your N-groove team.

Another thing you could probably do is make Ken your R2 for all your teams if you want since it looks like a theme for you to have Ken in your team.

Hi all,
my team is: Guile/Akuma/Sagat(R2).
I’m having a hard time choosing between C or N Groove, what would you guys suggest? Also, i’m not too sure if Guile/Akuma/Sagat(R2) or Akuma/Guile/Sagat(R2) would be the better line up, what do you guys think?

Thanks.

C-Akuma, Guile, Sagat R2 would be best since Akuma can’t take hits for shit, Guile and Sagat benefit from C-groove alot and Akuma I don’t know how well he can benefit from C-groove. He gains dash, lvl2 cancels, and air block but loses his run, small jumps and his rush game.

agh.

For people deciding on what grooves to pick, first of all, narrow your choices down with experimentation. This means actually testing your teams in different grooves.

After you’ve played 10 matches, try to figure out a few things:

—Do you prefer running or dashing? Some characters demand dashing for corpse hopping purposes but some will also do just as well with run (functions differently though)

If you like dashing, pick C or A.
If you like running, pick N or K.

Picked one yet? Good.

Dashers: No one picks a-groove for its wonderful stored access to two lvl1 supers. If you like customs, pick a-groove. If not, pick c-groove. (No questions! Do you want 2 lvl1s or C-groove’s extremely flexible meter system???)

Runners: Do you like to roll? Ok, great. Now, can you roll with effectiveness? Is rolling (and RC by proxy) an important part of your game? If you’ve answered yes, then pick N-groove. If not, use K-groove.

The other grooves DO NOT MATTER. There is absolutely no reason to ASK whether or not you should use P-groove because that is the groove that depends the most on the individual player. Actually, how about this. CAN YOU PARRY? If you can, and are willing to put up with the groove’s deficiencies, then use it. My thoughts tell me that if you are a natural parry person, you will be a clever kind of person, meaning you wouldn’t have to post a question asking whether or not you should use it. I can’t believe I rambled on about this but there are STILL people asking whether or not they should use P-groove. If you have to ask, don’t use it! Very simple! The ones that ARE using P-groove never had to ask people on the internet for permission!

Anyway…the keyword is “like.” What do you “like” to use? Go with that.

I prefer the phrase “everyone is born into a groove that they where meant to play.” What makes P-groove so deficient besides some of the obvious reason that are seen right of the back like missing a parry and get punished and bar building takes forever with it being a lvl3 only.

Least damaging lvl 3s in the game…

…plus, no advantage to having a full bar.

C-groove = stored supers, alpha counters
A-groove = custom combos, alpha counters
S-groove = most damaging lvl 3s, alpha counters
N-groove = damage bonus, access to lvl 1s and lvl 3s, counter roll, alpha counter
K-groove = highest damage bonus, lvl 3s

P-groove = weak ass lvl 3, meter builds the slowest, absolutely no other use for meter.

All the other grooves have at least one other option for their meter, which makes them more versatile. All the other grooves have some way of utilizing supers/other options without having full meter (K is an exception…but how slow does a K-bar build relative to other bars?) so you can be more offensive/defensive with alpha counters, lvl 1 supers, counter rolls, etc. In P you just wait 'til you get meter, and then you use it when you can…it’s the lack of options and severe lack of damage that makes P undesireable to play.

Man, imagine if P was like 3s size bars. That would’ve been nice.

oh and more than one, but all of them were level 3…

that would be fucken broken…

This can be a little confusing if, like me, you are meant to use N groove. Since N groove is a wierd compromise between C and K, someone might go back and forth between those 2 grooves without finding what they like.

So, if you like Rage and Run, but aren’t puttting JD to it’s full effect, and you like Roll and the flexibility of Stored Supers, try N groove. You might find it isa better fit than the other 2.

When the game 1st came out I started out as a N-groove Ryu, Hibiki, Kim R2 roll whore until sometime in 2005 i heard of this site and picked up K-groove and like it alot, maybe once I finally get my stick shipped to my house I might even go back to N-groove because of RC options, but then I’d have to learn new characters or pick up my old characters again and dust the rust off. >.> If you only practice with pad your potential and what groove you really should be using can be “hidden.”

thanks. i will try out the team u suggested for n groove.

Tired of c-sagat

i been using c-groove fo a while and i like it

terry,ken ,guile(2)

are there any other good c-groove teams that dont have sagat in there teams

Close to none for C-groove teams without Sagat, your Guile is in a awkward position since hes a battery type used as an anchor. You can try some of the C-groove characters to test out like C-Honda, C-Rugal, C-Kim and others if you look at the tier list.

Just curious out of peoples opinion, how good would Yun be in CvS2 if they made him like he is in 3S? Without the inheret parrys.

Blanka, Honda, Chun Li, Rolento, are all good characters in C.

I don’t think Yun would do well in CVS even with him parrying. I think a big part of his Genei game in 3s comes from the fact that the bar is so friggin’ short. IF he were to play in A-groove, had the bar cut in half, AND had normals as quick as they are in 3s, THEN he’d be good.

I honestly think for Yun in CVS, C is his best groove…and closest thing you’ll get to 3s. He gets RC palm, command grab, dash punch, air kick (if anyone uses this for anti-air RCed)…I say close to 3s because the cancels off his lvl 2 build meter like the finishers for his Genei do.

I play C-Yun and I try to play him in 3s…so that’s my opinion.
