Cvs2 team formation: discussion/suggestions, etc

C: Yamazaki,Guile, Geese.

I need a replacement for Geese outside of Top-tier.

Do you need a replacement for Geese, because he doesn’t work out, or because you want someone stronger.

Of all your team members I’d replace Yamazaki, cause he is difficult to win with, he also doesn’t make a very good battery compared to Guile.

Outside of Top-tier, Ken, Rolento, Kyo and Vega work well in C. Ken and Kyo would be the strongest Anchors of those.

The only other character that might make a good anchor would probably be Kim.

i’m kinda tired of people just saying drop this character for sagat/cammy/blanka/etc. just use who you like and with enough practice it can work.

Well actually my teams are all:
c- Yamazaki,Guile;Kyo,Iori,Geese,Rugal,Akuma.

Yamazaki is the character I work the most with even though his not my best.
Geese is also one of my worser characters, but I’ve been trying to improve with him, but he’s best in K? and I have no desire to learn K groove. Kyo I’m not all that good with. Iori I’m decent with and usuall takes place for Guile with Yamazakei,Iori,Geese. Rugal I’m alright; I can do his BnB,Cancel into his supers, and can play safe with him sort of.

My usual team is actually c Yamazaki,Iori, and Guile.

from the guy who uses blanka/cammy/sagat when he needs to beat bill

Well there are just some characters you just want to stay away from with all the effort you put in, it still won’t cut it even if you were the best in the world with that character. I mean you don’t see any Terry, King, or Kyosuke owning the shit out of someone in tourneys. The best I’ve seen is A-Terry doing the best out of the other grooves you could possibly put him in, King maybe A/P and Kyosuke you need probably 3 of his BnB to match Sagat just landing 2 c.fierce, so not worth the effort.

With Rugals BnB you could try it like this c.short x2, f.short xx qcf.short, doesn’t have to be x3 c.short xx dp.short to look nice. If you were talking about Rugals other BnB for the godpress, only attempt it on stunned/tall characters. If not Ken or Rugal you could also give Ryu, Honda, or Kim a try in your team. When you try out Kim don’t play him as a “charge” type character but more of a zoner. Leezy has a very nice Kim you could watch to pick up combos and tips. Guile does a lot better as a 1st or 2nd, Yama you can place in any order even anchor with some effort.

I’m going to think out load for a sec and go over certain things, and then try to make a suggestion.

Here are the characters I see that make good batteries:
Guile, Iori, Akuma, Kyo (in that order)
Here are the characters I see that make good users:
Yamazaki, Geese, Kyo, Rugal (in that order)
Here are the characters I see that make god anchors:
Geese, Iori, Kyo, Rugal, Guile (in that order)

You say that the team you run the most is Yama, Iori, Guile. Thatis fine, but the order of your characters is not the best. Yama is much better with super bar, so I would always put him second. I wouldn’t put him last because he has problems with certain characters like Sagat who show up late.

You’ll need to figure out who you want up front and who you want as your anchor. I would probably put Iori up front, as it is more difficult to link his supers, and he doesn’t need his supers to do great damage. So I’d put Guile last as his super links are a little easier and I think he gains more off of the damage from the supers.

I still suggest that you think about an alternate for Yamazaki. Geese is a great character, and while he is probably best in K, he can be used in C without too much problem.

I also suggest you think about learning 1 of the top 3 damagers: Sagat, Cammy, Blanka. I’ve been playing lots of characters, and there comes a point when you make a choice to either take your individuals to the next level or pick up stronger characters. I have found it easier to learn top/high-mid characters than to improve the mid or lower characters. That is a choice you will make, but you will have to make it if you are serious about this game.

Conclusion: C-Iori/Yama/R2 Guile based on what you said. C-Iori/Geese/R2 Guile or C-[Iori/Guile]/Yama/R2 Geese, for better match-ups.

lol, thats different. i’m saying this specifically to ppl who are trying to give other ppl advice.

for the most part its not like people are choosing some retarded ass characters like a-morrigan. people are bringing up characters that are playable like c-terry. but what do i know, the only tournament character that i use that isn’t a standard top tier is rock and i use him in k groove which makes him buff as fuck.

wow! a-morrigan was just a great example haha…is there any reason to pick her, i wonder…

I use A-Morrigan…her custom isn’t too bad, something like 8000+, pretty easy to do too. She’s actually a tricky character with dashing, and she gets RC grab…plus, it’s not like she doesn’t build meter fast as hell in the groove that builds up their bar fast as hell.

oh yea if you want cvs2 comp in korea hit up laugh he knows where the hot spots are at

and thanks for destroying my example, leezy. :lovin:

i’ve actually been messing around with K Terry, not bad.

hey i use a-morrigan. (seriously)

:looney:

I use A Akuma…seriously

Watching an A-Morrigan on youtube would be pretty interesting, as long as someone who knows how to use her is playing. >.>

Isn’t he very similar to V-Akuma?

nope

okay

oh yeah definitely i’ve already spent a couple of nights at his pad doing our thing. he’s got a nice Korean stick. a few days ago he brought a friend of his for a threeway and let me say, he’s really good. i had to pull off all my little tricks just to even touch him. Even though I was a-groove and he was k-groove, he had no problem coming to me. that session was 8 hours…we even got some of it on tape.
