Cvs2 team formation: discussion/suggestions, etc

it doesn’t matter

Ok, i always read the gigantic 40 pages threads here, but for this question this is just huge for me to keep searching for.

I play with Cammy-Rock-Sagat2 K-groove.
I’m not as near as good with sagat as i am with cammy, and I was always reluctant in changing Cammy to my ratio 2 character, im asking you guys what are the pro/cons or simply opinions.
I live in brazil, and here we got a small but active community that wants to keep fighting games alive, MvC2 dominates, but there are some cvs2 players across the country, in my city i face most of the times a friend who plays with C-Vega-Sagat-Blanka-R2 using a defensive style of play, lots of poking strings and pokings usings frame advantage, wich really cause me headaches, but im starting to learn some more against these situations, and another player is A-sak-bis-blanka, his playing style is most of the time settled in execution, this means i’m throwing and anti air with sagat and getting an activation from blanka and bam, CC. So, i think, at least for my local and real game situation, that my cammy is definetly most trained and well learned to face the matches, so the question really is:

Put cammy in first? This is what ive always done, she oftens takes one character and a half, but as the matches go on the situation always is the 2 last ratio 2 characters facing off with full bar, I with no meter and the C-A Groove fulled just waiting to get me.

Put cammy in last? And then staying with Sagat-Rock-Cammy2, sagat trying to do most damage, rock for a more strategic/setup game and cammy to hold the tought stuff as the match goes by.

I’m waiting for the answers, thanks for support, and I’m kinda of afraid to see answers like ‘ahh, fucking scrub’, but i’m just trying to improve my game, thanks!

I’m still very much learning this game as well, but from my analysis of Cammy and Sagat:

-Cammy-

Pros:

Great Normals
Level 3 Spin Drive Smasher Through FB
Awesome Pokes

Cons:

No FB
Short Range (Most of the time)

-Sagat-

Pros:

Long Range Normals
Level 2 Tiger Raid into Level 1 Tiger Shot Super is (arguably) the best Level 2 Cancel
Great Anchor
Mix Up FB Game

Cons:

Slow

These are from my experience playing. Cammy in C-Groove is good, though I prefer K, even though most agree her best groove is P. Cammy has to be played patiently, poking out the opponent, much like Chun. Sagat is different, as utilizing his range is key, locking the opponent down, and looking for the c. lk to confirm your LvL 2 Tiger Raid. It’s awesome when canceled into a Tiger Uppercut, or a LvL 1 Tiger Shot for massive damage.

You can definitely put either as your Ratio 2 Anchor, however, Sagat in C is usually the favorable choice, whereas Cammy would be better fitted as a K/P-Groove anchor.

I can personally tell you that I would pick Sagat. My C anchor is almost always Sagat, and my K anchor is almost always Cammy.

Your team placement is very good. Cammy is ALWAYS a bitch to defeat, and in the first spot she always is gonna kill someone ('cause both start w/out meter) and make alot of troubles for the opponent second character. Sagat is just “him”, the most dominating force in this game. So:

Cammy/Rock/Sagat is the way to go.

Short range? how about far s.HK xx lvl 3 super?
No FB - there’s a lot of characters that don’t have FBs and do pretty well. I think the fact that Cammy has parry/JD > far s.HK xx lvl 3 super kind of makes up for that.

Good points but Sarda said he plays K Sagat, so lvl 2 cancels don’t apply here.

IMO, both Cammy and Sagat could be used as anchor in K, both of them have good comeback potential. I think it all comes down to which one you’re more confortable with as well as what character your opponent is using as anchor.

i like cammy vs any sagat and a blanka and sagat vs bison.

I think because of how the whole rage bar thing works you can switch characters around in K groove teams more easily than in other grooves. So IMO you don’t really have to make a choice about it. You can switch the order and ratios around depending on what team you’re fighting against, like OTK does… did… sigh

That’s why I said most of the time. Regardless that she does well without an FB, it’s still a strike against her, albeit a small one.

I’m an idiot. My entire post revolved around the fact I thougt he was playing C-Groove.

Thanks everyone, i will start changing and experiment my team formation in new matches!

Most of the time I play N-Morrigan/Akuma/r2Guile. Morrigan and Akuma are great in N. Plus, run-in sk, flash kick is just too much fun when I use it on my brother.

I can never seem to play R2 Guile. He’s probably one of my best characters, but he plays so much better for me at point, not anchor.

I’ve recently picked up Military Personnel in N-Groove. Guile/Rolento/Dic(R2).

Got to say, I’m loving it. I don’t know why I never played Rolento before.

Uphill battle ;.;

N-Bison is well… Ass. I guess he’s okay for front, he build meter quickly if you get in, but you loose his massive CC. Guile, no lvl 2 total wipeout? Meh, N guile is bleh. N rolento can go, low jump, RC. Atleast he has lvl 3 tripwire available.

N-Bison is ASS from experience.

I know I’m a little slow on the reply to this one, but hopefully you can still use my input.

I found it interesting that this is the exact same team I use (I just recently swapped out Ken for Rock). Both Cammy and Sagat are two of my best characters, but I trust Sagat more as the anchor. He has more vitality and can do more damage, making him an R2 will only make them better (and even moreso when he’s raged). Tack that onto his great rushdown game and the general beast that K-Sagat is, and you’ve got yourself an anchor.

Se7in’s N team looks really interesting. Yeah, I’d scrap N-Bison because Paint the Fence is just too good for him not to have.

You want real Military Personnel, you should put in R2 Cammy. That might add a little more punch to your team and still hold the theme.

Yeah play Cammy in place of Bison and put the team in C-groove, with some practice you’ll see its alot better then what you are currently using. Guile/Rolento/Cammy (R2) is probably the best set up.

In C Guile and Rolento should be interchangable. I’d probably just put whoever is the better counter match-ujp first. That’s just me though, I love lvl 2 Wipeout cancel.

hey Sarda, you forgot about me.

About his question, against the A groover I use K-Sagat-2 first, to kill Sakura fast. I used to use Cammy, but I switched to Blanka.

I have too much difficulty in settle a main team, all of mine have the same strength, but aren’t too strong (C/A/K).
My A is the most unstable, it’s Rolento and 2 more amongst Ken, Honda, Hibiki, Vega and Sagat (this one just as battery, since Sagat is too strong by himself).

Kuwabara: Mi advice to you is: STICK TO ONLY ONE TEAM ALL THE TIME. Learn them. Their strenght and weaknesses…

Really? I thought K/P Cammy was leagues ahead of C. I’ll try it though.

Are there any big N-Groove teams besides what Buk uses (Iori/Chun/Morrigan/Hibiki)?

P/K cammy are 100x better than any other groove cammy.
