Cvs2 team formation: discussion/suggestions, etc

Keep blanka as r2. Work her guard bar , since in this case youre playing against P groove they have teh shortest guard bar. As youre doing this you should be building meter also by whiffinf elects and stuff, It doesnt matter that cammys fierce or whatever beats blankas pokes clean. Alot of pokes beat his low fierce clean, but yours will still hit as long as you press it first. Dont take away that poke of his just cause ur scared of another dudes poke. When you are attacking cammy, cancel shit to hop back so you dont get hit by random parrys. Work on guard break customs so you can get that guaranteed damage when her guard bar is flashing. And always believe in yourself. peace!

If you’re that terrified of the corner, go ahead and super jump. Worst case scenario (sans super) is she does hcb+k (to anti air with dp+k on the other side).It knocks you away from the corner (unless they corpose hop over to pressure you back into the corner, but you have some breathing room at least).

I wouldn’t RC ball from the corner unless Cammy is in the air. Too much risk … if she’s in the air them use it to get out of there. But there isn’t much of a reason for Cammy to leave the ground in that match up.

try r2 vega vs p cammy

vega gets eaten alive by p-cammy… Unless your point was that he shouldn’t be bitching about blanka vs. cammy since it is so much harder with vega. GOOD POINT.

so what exactly makes vega so much harder vs cammy than blanka?

She does a lot more damage then vega does and it’s a really hard match once she gets next to you and starts punching you in the mask. Just play the match a bit with a good cammy player and you’ll understand it.

use rc kkk with blanka sometimes to escape from being cornered. I think vega might have advantage over cammy if you are talking about A-vega(clawdiggity) vs P cammy.

there was a video of mago vs P-are player from california (i forget his name, but he was very good) from an evo posted awhile back in one of the threads. the gist of mago’s strategy was to sit there and then press crouching fierce when cammy overstepped her range. otherwise, he would literally just sit there. once the cammy player realized he wasn’t going to get something to whiff punish with standing rh, he had to come in closer. he might have hit a super, but that’s all i can really remember. super turtle mago for the win. OR there might be some OLD school gee-o vs ricky matches, although gee-o usually put R2 cammy second.

i say you approach this matchup as you would approach any P-groove matchup- realize what they are looking for, and give them something different. for example, if they are whiffing low strong from a distance to stuff your slide attempts or crouching fierce, then walk up and low RH (or walk up a little further and low mk). yes, they can parry this, but technically they can parry everything.

you shouldn’t ever really be thrown. you have a 2 frame standing jab with good range that is special/super cancellable. once you get a standing jab, you have momentum again because they just blocked a move. mix it up from there.

after a knockdown, do a jab ball forward like you’ll do a meaty RC electricity, hop back, hop forward, throw. it’s quicker than it sounds.

mix it up and don’t play it TOO safe or textbook. otherwise you’ll be stuck in the corner being guard broken.

PS- C-chun is not a sitting duck like everybody says. that is the dumbest shit i have ever heard. you’re still chun. fast walking speed, 2 frame low jab, standing strong, whiff RC legs to get meter back FAST, lots of AA’s if low rh might get stuffed (aka vs rock’s jumping rh), and the SUPER. sure, she has some difficult matchups, but they’re not hopeless 10-0 fights.

i dont think cammy does more damage than vega does, infact their damage output is pretty even.

yes, its a pain when cammy gets in and starts punching vegas mask, but she still has to work her way in.

a blanka vs cammy, i hate this match, mostly because i cant rc electricity that well.

its really hard for blanka to get in or do anything, when cammy is dancing outside of his slide range. cant slide or it’ll whiff and punished. cant jump in on her or you’ll get kicked in the grill.

Is it better to have a team of all similar character strengths, like a speedy team for example. Or would you want to change it up like first the quick person, then the meaty stronger guy, the the average guy. How ould you look to set up your team.

Its just your preference really. For my team I always like my last character who is usually the ratio 2 to be a character that can make a comeback if I am behind. So thats why you’ll see alot of Ratio2 Sagats or Ratio two A-Blankas. So Battery(Super meter builder) goes first, then person in the middle is someone that can use meter well, then last character is comeback character. Fun Fact: Notice how ratio2 vega doesn’t fit this formula…

The way I see it, it’s best to have a team where characters can complete each other (eg: your character A loses to your opponent’s character B but your character C beats your opponent’s character B, your character B beats your opponent’s character A, etc). If you have a team where everybody shares the same strenghts/weaknesses you have the risk of running into somebody who uses a character that can kill your entire team.

C- Morrigan, Iori, Sagat. should i try to play different ppl since im pretty new to this whole thing? Idk i have Sagat last, cuz i like using him the most, hes a strong character imo. Iori and Morrigan are just preference. I like Morrigans pokes and iori’s style of play. Ok im starting to sound like a fool. Sorry.

This sounds like a dope N team, if you were REALLY good. C-Morrigan just sucks, no run=bad morrigan.

And Iori atleast still has roll. I started with a pretty hard team. A-Athena, Terry, Rock. Bad idea. Atleast It helped out in the long run.

Messing around with a new team. Having alot of fun with N-Iori/Kyo/SagatR2. N-Iori is beast. Sagat is Sagat. Kyo, while missing JD/Parry is still pretty dope in N. He has low jump for mix ups and run. RC rekkas can pretty nasty too if you use them right. Of course his roll is pretty meh though. Fun team though. Really good if you can get the momentum going. It’s what Iori and Kyo feed off of.

Allen beastin’ the theory right now. This shit is dope. I’ll test it out for you on Monday. I’ll take Blanka, Bison, R2 Vega against Phil’s P-Ken, Cammy, Sagat…that fool parries everything…so we’ll see how well I do.

…and when I get raped, I’ll just play Sakura and own everyone again.

I also like using, Dhalsim, Sakura, Honda and Cammy for C groove. Should i switch any of them with Morrigan and Iori in my current team?
