Cvs2 team formation: discussion/suggestions, etc

Yeah, I know, it’s just that people mock the “low-mid, low” tiers so bad they aren’t used much, but heck, look at my team, Yuri? Heck, I’m going to use Yuri in my pool matches see how far I go. I mean some person had a link here awhile ago that had A-King that was pretty good. I mean I OCV with Yuri at school, but they suck as stated earlier in this thread… So yeah, Everything is possible in this game, you just haveto work more for your wins. But whenever I think of Rog, I always think of what people think what he says…

One question, Don’t know if it belongs here, but…

What is S groove good for? I see no one use it.

Oh, thought you were in America Kane, sorry bud, I only assumed since you had no location on your profile. Maybe XBL? Well, actually that’s not possible, I don’t have XBL…

j1nl0ng: I’ll play you for 5 bucks your balrog vs. my cammy =). Next time I’m in norcal we should meet up and play a little bit. Maybe I can get you to drop yuri before evo starts so you can make it out of pools =)

Leezy: You tippy foo

Dentron: You have the godliest ryu on the planet

I strongly believe that working more for your wins -> more effort and training -> more merit in your play and experience to become a better player (because of the training with the character and the training of oneself to master a character that is hard to win with).

To do Kyosuke’s infinites?

True, must update that; you will see soon enough how far from an Evo spot am I located =P. XBL is not an option for me, either, because I don’t own an XBox (and even if I had, internet speed in my country is very slow, specially regarding upload speeds, so I would have a laggy game at best).

qft

I’m cool cause I use N-Dhalsim. YOU CAN’T HANDLE HIM SON!

How does your N-Dhalsim works?

My Balrog, you’ve got to be kidding me, I don’t play Rog even though I play low tiers. Since I’ll probally be lazy I’ll probally just play like K-Hibiki, Cammy, Sagat in my pools, because I’ll probally be tired and they have pretty easy game.

Nope, my Balrog vs. your Cammys (and Vegas, shotos, Blankas, Sagats, M. Bisons, etc. etc.)

Even my S R4-Ryo? XD

Even your S-Ryo(R4), with my full team or a K-Balrog(R4), your choice.

what the hell happened to this thread…

Ok… I don’t know who you are but how about at evo we’ll do 5 or 10 bucks per character.

You can have rog, i’ll take blanka, cammy, sagat, hibiki, bison, vega, ken, rolento, kyo, iori.

we should do single character format 2/3.

Dude, okay yeah last post off topic, but look he lives in Chile, HELLA far from Vegas…

Anyways to be back on topic, what groove would the 3 shotos (Ryu, Ken, Akuma) groove be good for? I kinda like K, but wouldn’t N be more practical?

I’d rather use C in a 3 shotos team. There is not that much difference for C and N in Ryu and Akuma, and Ken has highly damaging Lv2 cancels. Besides, shotos are not that much of low jump users, and with N, Ryu and Ken (and to a lesser extent, Akuma) are somewhat vulnerable in the air.

Of course, this is only what I have experienced in my matches, ad might be totally wrong in my assumptions.

Well, I’m leaving now to a fighting night. Around 80 matches of CvS2 await for me. Later!

Oh, and to UCRollerblader: No, thanks, I don’t play money matches, even if it were my C-Sagat against someone’s N-Dan/N-King or whatever. I have a strict no betting/gambling policy, but I’m always up for training/sparring.

P/A/S shotos forreal!

I’d say as far as team shoto, it depends on which character you anchor. N makes Akuma good, but Ryu/Ken don’t benifit much. C makes Ken beastly, and somewhat Ryu, but Akuma isn’t that hot. K makes any character good. When in doubt, pick K and RTSD

Im in a dilemma and I really want to make it past the qualifier in evo west (at least!) i’m stuck between an A or P groove, my only strong points. I do my best with King and Rock, and still choosing on a solid r2 third character (any suggestions? I am okay with Ryu, Terry, Kyo, or Guile) Basically would I have a better chance in making it by working on my parrying or working on my custom?

mm ur k shotos vs my a shotos!

Okay, with King, work your ASS off, there’s some really cool A-King match vids somewhere around here, learn the fullscreen custom and whatnot, you’ll be good, but WORK for your wins, I’m not kidding. Rock has a pretty easy CC, but for an A anchor, I’d go for like one of the top tiers like Bison, Blanka, Sak (not much) or Ken. Even though Ken’s CC is like so easy, for an easy CC it’s alot of damage, and your RC’ed funky kick is your best friend.

I’m not good with P, so your gunna have to ask someone else about that. But I know P Kyo is pretty good.

And don’t worry, half the game play is being confident and getting your execution down. I went to Evo2k5 last year, I just picked up CvS2 like a couple months before ( I only went for CvS2 just to see how it was) And I used A- Terry, Rock, Cammy. I only got to second pools, but hey, it was good for me atleast, I got experience. Even if you loose at Evo West, there’s always one thing you’ll get out of it. Experience and a good time. Trust me.

With the choices that you give, I would go for A-King/Kyo/Rock(R2).

And I totally second what j1nl0ng says. After all, of what use is knowing all the theory if you are not confident with your own skills, and besides, it’s imposible to become a better fighter if you don’t play against people who are better than you.
