What can he do after a parry vs. jump-in, ground, etc?
Vs Jump-in: RH or slide.
Ground: cr. forward, slide, cr. strong.
after parrying a jump in i just press RH and then the summersault thingy would come out.
i don’t know jack about CvS2, but i do know LTB . he told me he don’t post on here anymore. didn’t get to ask him why, but i’ll probably be seeing him in the next month or so for a 3rdStrike/CvS2 tourney we’re having here. so any of you in the area, be sure to swing by!
Yeah sorry guys but LTB don’t post anymore…I had a conv. a few days with him and he said:
LTB: “SRK = zzzzzzzzzz”
In other words…he’s not liking the content…no one ever posts good shit, and I’m kind of sick of it too…I stick around cuz I like to help people with the few knowledgable things that i know, not only that but I go on a lot cuz i get pretty bored.
But yea…don’t expect LTB to post too much until someone posts some actual good shit…
Later on I’ll post some good Ken Parry setups :nunchuck:
or press b,f+P and red impact that shit
that’s always an option for me, because when you parry high you can do it crazy early, because vega is really tall when he stands up. if sagat jumps and tries to hit you with a far late j.HK, pressing forward when you have charge makes you almost twice as tall and parry it early.
he is really good at parrying jump ins and vega owns the ground
how does P-groovers deal w/ rolls? especially those who whore rolls w/ iori?
Countering rolls aren’t groove specific … if they roll in your face, throw them. If its from a distance, hit them with your most damaging combo. Just get used to the timing.
Yea i could feel his pain on that subject but thats mainly from the cvs2 side of things. I think the 3rd strikers on this site are a bit more knowledgeable on their game of interest. As far as cvs2 goes i know for sure people are constantly saying the same things and having the same arguments (weekly teir threads…) and this kind of goes nowhere, but this thread is exactly the same thing. There was already a p groove thread started by Eightysix that covered hella ground on characters (bat/user/anchor), strategies, match ups, tricks, parry timing, etc. Almost everything that you would want to know about p groove is in that thread, and if it wasnt covered (very unlikely), then the question could have been posted in that thread. The redundancy adds to the zzz factor
i’m usin P sak, sagat and cammy for fun. P groove is sorta fun but how the fuck does P cammy fight sagat?
sagat does more and takes less than her and his level 2 takes off more than her super, not to mention it also being more versatile.
and he gains a level 2 every 7 seconds.
can anyone help me on this match. this feels so uphill.
i agree, but what else do you really WANT to know about cvs2 that hasn’t been posted? honestly, i think we all just wait for buktooth to post some tight new trick/strat/insight or to start arguments over tiers/grooves and which one is best. that’s why it’s kind of counter-productive to post here nowadays. once you get to a certain level of proficiency in cvs2, you figure things out for yourself IMO.
i <3 N-groove:tup:
I have to disagree popo. There are a lot of things that haven’t even been cracked yet. I’m only beginning to explore these things. Knowing your matchups/gimmicks/trick/whatever is one thing, but it’s all about how YOU apply them.
SRK used to be a good cvs2 discussion area, however now it’s just a bunch of newbs posting dumb ass shit. I mean some one has to teach them, however it’s all repetitive now. Higher tier players, namely LTB, Jamaal, Buk…they barely post cuz srk is just to repetitve. Until a good thread is posted, no one will post.
I can totally see where you’re coming from on this topic, popo, and I agree to an extent. But I also agree with Mike. More than half the shit I see posted here is useless and repetitive theory fighter and I guess knowing some of that is fine. But trying to apply it to gameplay is something else. And it depends on the player to actually have concious thoughts and applying what you read on the boards. If it doesn’t work, scratch it and learn from it. But don’t live on it.
But yeah, when you do get to a certain level, the only way to truely learn is to actually go out there and play matches instead of sitting at home practicing training mode to hell and writing long ass posts of random bs theory fighter that just looks good on paper.
P-Groove is too dope.
I’m not that good at CvS2(yet) but I can parry like a muthafucker. So far the only person who seems really effective in P is Maki (+ I like Maki). Gotta find 2 more members. Maybe Honda? Hibiki? We’ll see.
P-Groove!
I think underparrying with P-groove is just as bad as overparrying, worse even.
One thing I’ve been practicing lately is parrying specials/supers(specials mainly) and doing the most damaging combo with each of my characters both with and without supers.
Because although I don’t think it’s wise to stand there constantly twitching the joystick in anticipation of an attack to parry, I don’t think it’s wise to treat the parry as an afterthought, either.
If you know your opponent has a tendency to tackle kick with Ken to start there offense why not parry it?
A lot of P-groove players search to find some sort of middle ground, only parry these, don’t parry that, don’t parry more than once per round, etc., but I think P-groove is a more intuitive groove than that. Parry what you see fit but also beware the consequences, and be ready for them.
My main game is mvc2 but i’ve picked up cvs2, just wanted to know if someone could post general strats on how to avoid getting rushed down and getting guard crushed in P ;;. I seem to lose when i get cornered and rushed to death  . Better yet, if any of u live in the montreal area, send me a PM and maybe we can meet for training :badboy: The other grooves are ok but I like P ^^’
My first post here, but I figure I have something decent to say on the subject.
P-Groove, in my opinion, is based on two things: One, your ability to time things properly so that you dont frag up your parry and eat a slow hadouken like a moron. The second part is understanding the effect of being able to parry. I use Ryu or Ken/Geese/Kyo on P groove and when people get their fierce’s parried into a deadly rave or orochinaga they get scared.
I dont think people should try to set a parry “quota” in a round. When I play a person i’ve never played before, I may not parry a single hit until my first character has fallen. I do this mainly to get a feel for what their main strategies are. Once you know that, you can start to parry the crap out of them, thus throwing their playing style completely off balance. Parry well enough, and your opponent will be stuck in a complete defensive stance, hoping to catch you off guard. And as you all probably know, your fragged when you start doing that. Just my thoughts on the subject.
I disagree…you have to play the person for a good 30 minutes to see what the person does. And parrying right intospecial with Kyo isn’t too great of an idea, especially when you can do 4000 more damage with it. Setting parry quoats aren’t a good idea for sure. Just play regularly, and when you see a parrern that your opponent makes, mess it up into a hard hitting combo.
After some practice and some play time in the arcade, i’ve come up with a few questions for anyone who can help.
1: On my Gamecube version of CvS2, P groove allows me to cancel supers into specials. For example, the first two parts of Kyo’s heavy chain (qcf +fp, hcb +fp) into his qcf+p, qcf+p special. Another one is Iori’s qcb+p x 3 special into the maiden masher. However, I do not seem to be able to do the same in the arcade. Is this a special feature that only the Gamecube allows or am I just failing at the arcade stick?
Another question is, how do I close the distance between, for example, a tiger shot whore sagat? I use Geese/Iori/Kyo and, while I can parry his shots all day, I cant find a safe way to get in close. Especially for Kyo, since his dash is, in my opinion, crappy to the max.
walk forward while parrying.
And yes, P groove cancels are for xbox and gc only.
