CvS2 - Lifetimeboy's P-Groove Thread!

Question moreso about the general mechanics rather than P-Groove in particular.

If you parry a jump-in, for trip guard, do you have to do a LOW attack (ie: Cammy, c.mk but not c.mp) or can you throw out anything?

It has to be a low attack

From what I remember, s4v said its not always a wise thing to go for trip guard after a jump in. It doesn’t make much sense to me, maybe someone can explain how that works. I was under the assumption that if you parried a jump in you got a free trip guard combo (ie Chun’s cr strong xx super)

i’m a 3S player.
P-groove is my choice,projectiles/jump-ins are easy to parry but i’m having trouble baiting low parry.
i can parry a lot in 3S, but it seems that i can’t do the same w/ Pgroove especially low parrying. :frowning:

if you can get a counter hit jab you can easily link cr.mk xx super

i meant cancel sorry

you seem to know a lot about cvs2. do you ever go to university pinball to play?

P groove is mad fun/stressful…
I am still trying to learn it though.
I think it will make me a better player.

My P groove team is Maki Geese Rugal R2.

Iam hoping P groove will give me a sharper eye. U have to be really awake to play P groove/meaning u cant be caught sleeping.
U have to be ready and awake at all times. It seems to have alot to do with reactions. U see something then…flash… Parry in to xxx.

I really like the whole “Parry into Punish” thing.
P groove also is about using your groove/characters to the MAX.

because P groove dosen’t have alot. It forces u to use all of your tools. There is no get out of “jail free card!”(rc’s/rolls,counter,ragemode,ect.) That is why I like P groove sooooooo much. I forces u to Think. Its fun trying think one step ahead of the guy thats trying to bitch u out because he thinks U cant get out of a
certain situations because U have P groove.

I am playing P groove to improve myself as a whole. Reacting/fore-sight/patients/becoming a strong player.
Hell If that dont fly… I can allways break out my C groove. Ryu Ken Sagat2. Lol :lame:

I don’t hardly play P groove so I have a question. Can you cancel special moves into supers like in 3rd strike? Like with Ken cancel regular Fierce dragonpunch into a Super dragonpunch.

And if you can who are the characters that have good cancels specials into supers.

Special cancels work only on the X-Box version of CvS2 I believe.

bump

LTB started the thread then didn’t post anything else, what’s up with that=)

why is P-rugal considered good? i’m trying to get a solid P-groove team going, and i’ve decided on cammy and rolento so far, i just need another character and to decide on an order…

What’s the difference between Cvs2 parrying and 3S parrying??
I keep hearing people say 3S parry is better, but how??

P-Rugal is okay. Parry into cr mk (I think thats wrong) xx wall grab gives him momentum and pressure. His normals aren’t too hot … easy to land a super off of a cr short though.

As for parrying, from what I understand people who played 3S first think its easier, and people who played CvS2 first think its easier.

Now that I have a BIT of experience in 3S, it is easier in that game, but it takes some getting used to. I always used to parry too early in 3S, but it really does seem easier.

I’ll throw something in here. I keep getting owned by K-Sagat … whats a P-groover to do?

P-Geese is sexy.

What makes P-Vega (claw) so good? Low jump hk? If that’s it, what about K/N then? Or is it that he can sit on lv3 claw super?

What’s his options after a parry (vs. jump-in and ground)?

Low jump HK is pretty good. But thats not why P-Vega is good. He’s good because he can control the ground with his good pokes. Plus parry, and you’ll have a hard time getting in on him. He isn’t the type of character to get big damage from a parry.

People actually use N-Vega?

Can someone confirm that Super Cancels don’t work in the arcade version? I know they work in EO (GC version but I’m pretty sure GC and XBOX versions are identical) because I’ve got a decent P-Groove Rock combo that goes c.mk (This can shut down Chun Li’s Kick Super if you parry one hit of it) xx 214hp (allow one hit only) xx super. Basic, but useful and p-groove exclusive provided you have Super Cancel. If P-Groove doesn’t have it, do any others? Help, please.

GC and XBOX EO versions are the only versions with super cancels – the arcade, dc, and ps2 versions don’t at all

I’m trying out a P-Haohmaru, currently. Long-range parries into his standing-FP can hurt a lot, and Haohmaru has some decent ground control. A crouching FP has nice priority.

-Better ground control

-He doesn’t have to throw cr. strong out randomly as much, instead he can just wait for a parry setup and go from that.

-Small jump RH and fierce are good. Small jump in general is a little better.

-AA mix-ups are better.

Basically, he’s just a little more threatening.
