CvS2: Chun Li everything

tell em White Brotha!!

ZNSF: sagat, blanka loses to chun, and chun loses to zangief?? did u drink too much or are u on crack?
no offence, but i’ve never heard that before

Chun has always had Zangief problems even in A2. Ask Sirlin. Since most people try and dominate with Chun-Li’s air game, they forget about her groud game, which is a MUST against Zangief.

edit:
haha :cough: my bad for bringing in this string of un-necessities into this thread.

MY APOLOGIES TO TIGERLEE ONLY, my post was uncalled for.
anyways more on chun stuff. yes, chun makes everyone happy. i feel bubbly inside after i do these combo’s

theres some neat string’s chun li can do that hasn’t been talked about here.

groove with a run , into c.wk, into s.wp into fireball,
c.wk, s.fp into fireball i think would work too.

c-groove
chun li in corner:
superpuffball lvl2, normal fireball, lvl1 fireball

   see now everyone is happy.

hey gandido that stuff was just beautiful , sniff
got anything on nak? i think stomp loses to c.fp of nak right?

can u give a quick list of who you should abuse stomp more on ?
you have listed athena and gief so far. people who have low mobility/life/ without a dp or something like that i’m guessing.

say, if you headstomp and your opponent parry’s it, you still bounce back up into the air and away right?

Don’t even think about stomping Gief if he has a level 3 super. Try and do it on his head area. About Nako, I doubt Chun-Li has anything against her besides s.strong xx strong kikkoken.

Correct.

Hrm. Yeah, my problem is that I never play against Zangiefs in CvS2. Never. I always go back to him and feel like he’s better than I remember. But I always have to think about Sagat and Blanka before I decide to try anything with him again. More Blanka than Sagat.

I don’t want to turn this into an Alpha 2 thread, but Chun Li had problems against Zangief in Alpha 2? Man, I HATED that match up for Zangief… Then again, I never played the game recently, and stopped pretty much right when the newer game came out, since I really never liked Alpha 2.

Completely off topic:

On A2 I recall Gief vs Chun to be a REALLY great match when played expertly by both sides. Not that I remember much else about the game:P

BUT! As far as gief being usable on CvS2? James, imo, the game would be much more fun if we all tried it on single match mode. Unless ppl were damn good with Blanka and Sagat, they wouldn’t be much of an issue. Single character would allow Gief to actually become usable. Not to mention the variety in characters and grooves. What do you think about the idea? I honestly believe that it would rejuventate the game.

Apoc.

from my experience against nak
what i do a lot is just block, run away, and if ever possible try to trick him into getting thrown or walk up throw etc

never doing s.fp against nak cuz everything she has outprioritizes that, i don’t think chun should s.mp into fireball cuz if chun is lucky enough to hit nak with the s.mp, she should keep close and do tricks, c.wp, throw, crossup dwn twd flip kick etc. or run away

chun has to turtle/runaway from nak :frowning:

i note that chun’s jumping mp beats out nak’s jumping RH, and don’t bother trying to do superpuffball against nak, to me, that’s almost impossible to hit as an anti air against a good nak. just well positioned c.rh, or flip kick when she jumps at you

that’s pretty much what i do against nak. not always successful, when nak is on a successful rushdown i find it really hard to shake her off.

Apoc, see my reply. I created a new thread for it so we wouldn’t go off topic in this one. Plus, I think it merits it’s own discussion:

im gonna sound like a newb, but what is the SBK trap? how does it work?

just search for the SBK trap in this thread.

Is Chun’s spinning bird kick of much use?

Against those who can’t Crouch under the SBK, it’s really good. I use the SBK trap a LOT. But as someone pointed out, it’s probably been discussed to death in this thread already (I haven’t read any of it, so I don’t know how it compares to with my trap style). Just look for info on it within this thread.

SBK can occasionally be used to run away, say there is like 3 seconds left, ryu is in the air hurricane kicking towards you and away and missing by a lot, you can use rounhouse SBK to run away so that there is no possible way for him to catch you. i think that would cover more distance faster than two dash backs because theres no pause but i’m not sure.

or i guess u could do a small SBK forwards just to fake running away in that situation and counterattacking, and then superjump backwards. whatever, there are more uses, utilize it in your own style.

Just a question that’s been bothering me for a while. For following up the QCFx2+K super, why is it that sj.FPx2 works all the time, and sj.RH won’t work all the time?

GeekBoy: sj. roundhouse has a smaller hitbox and more startup, I always use a headstomp, so I can get either a crossup short, same side short, or same side headstomp into crossup short.

i’d like to point out u can almost always hit the SJ. RH when your in c-groove and doing a lvl2 or lvl 3 super

u might have problems… with the lvl1. then u do as gandido says i guess, or the two fierces because it does deal a little extra damange than the middle kick version. when i’m feeling lazy or just out of it, i just press middle punch cuz u ALWAYS hit with that, and then try to throw him right after

To connect the sj.HK you just need to superjump early enough. Like, right when she kicks them. And hit roundhouse as soon as you jump. At least that’s how I do it, but I haven’t been pulling Chun out much since I can’t combo supers anymore. Stupid RC practice.

Has anyone ever thought of this?
Lvl 1 kick super, sj. headstomp, while going down, fierce (first hit, they block it), delay the second hit (they won’t block it)? If this works, Chun-Li could be even more of a Magneto after the level 1 super because they won’t know the right time to block low/high. Could someone test this out for me?
