CvS 3

So true. The rest of the games get shrouded in stupid stereotypes because of it.

I think the best execution of this game would be to do the CvT style: that is, 3D graphics that aren’t -terribly- high detail, but are still good. They could pull their “staples” from SFIV, having already made the 12 HF chars plus several other fan-faves (Sakura, Dan, Cammy) and perhaps scale them down a bit if necessary (so not every SNK char they make needs to be up to the quality of IV). Throw together 3D characters for a slew of popular SNK fighters, carry over the Groove system from CvS2 with some changes of course, perhaps a new groove or two, polish it up and voila: CvS3. Of course, it wouldn’t be this easy, but it’s entirely doable. Look at Cap vs. Tatsu: a crossover that came out of nowhere and is having some success.

To those of you who talk about “licensing” issues, it would be so insanely easy for Capcom and SNK to strike an agreement. Now, they can’t make a new MvC anytime soon because another company owns the Marvel license, a transferable commercial license. However, Capcom and SNK are two independent companies, and can do crossovers no problem. Hell, they released a new SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighter game on the DS now two years ago. No issues.

I’ve have only seen SFIV in youtube vids, but I have Battlefantasia which is supposed to be the same style and I think it looks great.
I would agree with everyone that it just never looks as good as sprite art, but atleast we’re finally getting new games and they’re doing the right thing by keeping the gameplay strictly 2d.

Battle fantasia does look really good. Better then TVC in fact as far as looking 2d.

I’m going to miss 2D tho, it will always have a charm 3d can never match.

2D is dead. LONG LIVE 2D!

Megadeth fan?

i think being unhappy about how snk characters are represented in a capcom game is fine, but that is a separate issue from a game being good/bad.

this is an exaggeration, but imagine if all the snk characters were completely bottom tier in cvs2, while all the capcom characters were all upper mid tier and up. that’s still over 20 characters that are playable, plus 6 different grooves, and it would still make for a very deep/fun game.

surely such a product would not bode well for future endeavors between the two involved companies, but that isn’t the point. just because characters from a different series are changed to fit into a different game system doesn’t make the game bad. it’s a little akin to a 3s chun player saying sf4 is a bad game because chun can’t late hit confirm c.mk to SA2, yeah? it’s a completely different game with different mechanics, and should be enjoyed as such. and when viewed in such a light, cvs2 is objectively a very well made game. better than cvs1.

lol Somebody called me a “Crapcom” lover. Is this “Burnknuckle.com/forums” or “Shoryuken.com/forums”? Just wondering. This place slays me.

SVC was hardly a accurate portrayal to the quality SNK is capable of, we don’t use CFJ to gauge Capcom games so why use SVC. Although I do agree the game should do away with grooves and just maintain a single universal SF based engine for a more cohesive presentation. Visually speaking, 3D models is certainly the way to go. Even from current gen standards, something like the RE4 graphics engine spliced with good cel shading features(as seen in the DBZ fighters)would still be very impressive to look at, basically obtaining portrait quality sprites with incredibly fluid movement.

I agree. :coffee:<------ To be cool like other srk’ers

CvS 3 with new 2D hd quality sprites would be a dream come true.

SNK doing artwork + Capcom doing game design/development.

Sigh. One can dream.

No they are not! Goddamnit, I’m gonna start negging everyone who says this from now on.

Please no. True fans’ voices will be drowned out by the screams of scrubs everywhere who only like characters that look, play and smell like Ryu and Ken. I think you mean you want a diverse roster in stead of shoto heaven, right?

I can get behind your other points, though I don’t see any/many new characters happening on a project like this.

If this ever comes out, the roster will be interesting though. Will they keep all the characters from 2 and add others on top of that? (Would be a real mess IMO)
Or will they start from scratch with a mostly new roster?

Just let SNK balance their chars, and Capcom balance theirs! Do the same for grooves, then throw a couple of loketests to make sure one company didn’t give their characters the ‘broke’ treatment

I’d definitely like to see more of the groove system, rebalanced of course. 2D would be great, but one can dream

?apcom vs SNK vs Midway.
1/3 of characters in game will have infinites xD

speaking of which, did mugen go 3D yet? when it does we can all finally play that SF vs Tekken vs Soul Calibur that i know you’ve all been dreaming about 24/7 :looney:

i kid. please don’t neg rep me for using the ‘m’ word.

Wow… there are still people who think TvC sold like garbage? XD

thank you

I like CFJ better than SvC anyday

That’s like choosing between the Kansas City Royals and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Then the companies would argue that one side wasn’t balanced and the game would never get released.
And I don’t know about you guys, but I for one like the Capcom version of the SNK characters, I think they did a great job making them. While I do like KOF12’s sprites, I would still prefer for capcom to do the art and gameplay, basically everything. CvS2 is also my favorite fighter, it’s deep as shit and just has the best overall gameplay engine. And don’t get rid of the 6 groove system, the 6 groove system makes the game even BETTER than it already is. Add more grooves if anything, and fix any problems regarding the current 6 that there are.
