Current evaluations of game. Is it even better than the PS2 port?

As annoying as Matchmaking in AE can be (wait for list of lobbies, wait for pings to show connection strength, pick a lobby then Unable to Join) the random waiting forever way that 3S does is annoying. Wait 5 minutes and be matched with a red ping? No thanks. Give us a list of lobbies ala AE

They said the main issue with ranked is that too many people are auto created as clients and not many people end up being hosts. Once they patch that you shouldn’t have to wait anymore.

I don’t know if this belongs here but I encountered a bug with the AI during arcade mode that I’ve never encountered on any version before. Oro’s AI stopped responding entirely. I imagine that if I hit him he would do something but walking back and forth and pushing him into the corner got no response from him. I got a video of that, I didn’t get video of me whiffing normals, jumping, dashing, etc. to also get no response.

Heres the video if you guys are interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs0-R6EuKcU

But, its never meant to be viewed in the pixel aspect ratio. Working on it you of would been on a standard 4:3 monitor. Where those squares become rectangles. Do you think the Atari 2600 was meant to be viewed at 176x223?

Another thing that should be mentioned, is that it’s really annoying that the health bar resets either halfway through a combo or instantly right after. It should wait for a few seconds after each combo before resetting so we can take a good look at how much damage our combo does.

As a home port its whatever but if you think of it as a update for tournament 3s I think its awesome.

You have button mapping on the char select screen.
Faster loading.
Closer to the arcade.
Better systems/sticks that won’t shit out mid tournament.
At big tournaments we won’t have to lug CRT’s around to play lagless 3s, we can just use Asus now.
REMATCH! <3

Overall I think this is the best home port (in my opinion) just because of how much better this is for tournaments.

Turn on attack data

I’ve had this happen to me on the PS2 version at least once

asus will still have small lag. everyone needs to use crt at tourneys if they want it to be legit.

Asus monitors lag? Damn I had no idea, then why do they use them for EVO and not CRT’s?

And yeah all in all CRT’s are the best things imo, I just thought Asus did the same thing too but I guess not.

they lag less than 1 frame but they still lag

Oops, I meant during the trials and such. It’s so annoying when the health bar resets…

The way the music transitions between rounds is starting to bug me. It’s just a hard, abrupt transition in 3SOE.

I hope the original music gets added and not withheld to be DLC.

That’s how it was on the Dreamcast version, too.

Y’know, just like at the arcade

The arcade music transitions a bit more smoothly and waits for the 1,2,3,4 in the music before switching it up. PS2 did the same thing with the arranged music and waited for a good spot to transition. Arcade music on arcade cab does the best transitions though IMO.

The Dreamcast style abrupt mix change is cool tho. It’s still good music can’t hate. I’d really like to see some other music remixes make it into the game so we have a lot of different music styles to choose from. At least for now it’d be nice if I liked more than 2 of Simon’s songs.

Shameless plug

Also, I wish the Rematch button was better implemented. It would be such a great feature!

All of current fighting games do rematches by displaying the after-match options for both players in one screen, all at the same time.
This game, on the other hand, chose to have a different screen for each player
Thus, one must always wait for the other player to confirm the achievements he won on that match. Then he has to confirm his own achievements, and only after that he’ll be able press rematch.

People just end up mashing X, which makes loads of noises, but does not make it faster to get to the rematch option.
Since it’s no good, we all end up playing on Arcade Mode - which do not have this rematch option, but is probably faster since it has less “spam” to confirm.

I know that this doesn’t matter to many people, but the arcade mode is also taken from the dc/ps2/xbox versions which is not arcade perfect at all. First, the AI routines are different. Second, the score system doesn’t work properly. In example, a double perfect earns you 150k points on arcade version, but only 100k points on console.

I’m liking this port for offline vs play (closer experience to cps3 than previous ports), but still…

Actually, I noticed that the AI might be a little smarter at times… if only the difficulty option actually had an effect. It starts off really easy, but towards the end, if I get someone like Akuma, they some to actually do some smart things every now and then. I could be wrong.

I like that the thread title has nothing to do with the thread. How this game stacks up directly to the PS2 port is not discussed.
I see that PS2 version is said to have timing differences (where, what, and how). I own both, and I’d love for OE to be great.

That said, the meters are completely different, and ex moves are wonky.

I’ll be sticking with my PS2 3s that everyones been playing on that has correct meters/music/ryubag/yang-akumashadowglitch/etc.
