Actually they are having the lock in for magic/board games/d&d/and the other card games they run. They told me about the lock in and to ask if you guys would be interested. As far as money matches go thats between you guys, if someone would like to stream ti as Howard has to work that day please just send me a PM. AE is ass, but saying it is not a high level game is just stupid.

Not exactly sure why you are acting like you were the first to say this. I said I didn’t like AE in like March or April when I played it. And you were the one that was saying that Super sucked and AE was going to be amazing because it promotes rushdown.

Yes, I did say that. That was before I got my hands on the game and realized that characters constantly rushing down makes the game ass. SSF4 AE has little to no defense at the highest level of play with the top tier characters (Fei Long, Viper, Gief, Yun, Akuma, Ken)

Not to say that AE does not have defense (it does) but at top level the meta game is being random and getting lucky with top tier offensive rushdown characters. period. Any character that is defensive is not high tier and any character that rushes down is top tier. The fact that the meta game has pretty much been fully developed already, is fucking sad. It hasn’t even been out 6 months.

This. I don’t care how “ass” you think some game is. Take it to the general discussion of that game. This is the regional matchmaking forum. Not the regional disrespect and generic opinions forum. I know I’m guilty of saying stuff, not saying I’m not, but we can’t be doing this. I know You feel very strongly of your opinions don’t jump, but this isn’t the place to voice them. If we get hype about something and want to discuss it, sure, but I just feel like opinions need to stay out of this thread or posts should end with " but that’s just my opinion and I respect that yours may be different"

This is actually a very viable point. Those “I hate this game beacuse of XXX” discussions should be taken to their approriate threads and treated as flamebaiting/trolling when they are done to death and to annoy or garner attention here.

Its obvious, glaring, and breaks the thread down into bickering. Truly something should be done, at least infractions should start going out.

Hmm, I am interested in going to the lock-in, but my car has been giving me some troubles and it seems a little risky to take the hour trip from Hartford…anyone in the area up for carpooling there?

Damn, This thread has become straight up vicious. Amazing how people are such dicks to each other online but don’t do anything in person. At least people can attest to the fact that I’m a dick everywhere I go.

I haven’t been attending the Gaming Etc. gatherings (and probably won’t be unless there is an official tournament) simply because I don’t like the current roster of fighting games. I’ve talked a bit about it in this thread, and I’m not going to beat a dead horse. I think Needles just said this a few pages back: “If you don’t like the current generation of fighting games, move on with your life.” That’s exactly what I’ve been doing - playing everything BUT fighting games and making good money off of it. However, if there was going to be a tournament and someone wanted me to promote it, or to promote/do commentary for a stream, I’d be willing to do so.

Just to show that I’m not blowing smoke up people’s asses - Machinima (whom I’m contracted with to make videos on YouTube) reached out to me specifically and asked me to make fighting game videos to submit to their Respawn channel, for a special event on August 6th. If the event takes off, they might actually make a new channel on YouTUbe that’s completely focused on fighting games. I opted to IGNORE the request and do other stuff; that’s how much I’m disliking this generation of fighters. I miss the days of TGA, when we could play 3s/CvS2/ST/MvC2; I couldn’t stomach to watch a single match of EVO footage because of how badly I feel the gameplay has been diluted in this generation of fighters. But THAT’S JUST MY OPINION and I’m not going to try to shove it down anybody’s throat.

A lock-in would have sounded interesting to me years ago, but with my back (and work schedule of putting out 10-30 videos a day) it’s not something I’d be interested in. But it’s cool that Walter is trying to make stuff happen in CT and that we have a local scene again. I just wish it were still five years ago!

UNRELATED NOTE: For those in Connecticut into classic gaming, there is a GamesXChange that just opened a couple of months ago in Bridgeport - across the street from the Merritt Canteen, where the Blockbuster video used to be. Rambo and I randomly stumbled upon it on Saturday - and of all things, ran into Rob Aponte while we were there. Rambo picked up two SNES games, I got an NES Game Genie - they had an extremely extensive selection of PS1, PS2, and Xbox games in addition to NES/SNES/Genesis and more. Shit, they had SIX pristine-looking Dreamcast consoles! This is the ONLY store of its kind in this area so I highly recommend you check it out if this is your cup of tea.
