Today, I found out Noob’s reset doesn’t work with MK2 costume.
As usual, our weekly event is coming tomorrow. Windsor Wednesday will be held at my place, a wide variety of games will be played along good company and great pizza. If you’re interested in coming and haven’t before, please toss me a PM. What I want more than anything is to see new faces at this event, if you’ve been lurking for awhile and want to finally get into it, please don’t hesitate, we’d be glad to have you.
I ask that people who do come a) Send me a text as they arrive to avoid any confusion, and b) Bring a small contribution in the form of snack, drink, or a couple dollars. This helps everything run smoothly, and keeps our fighters refreshed for the next battle.
I will be running a small tournament for whichever games seem popular enough, I’ll add in a $1 buy in if enough people want it to add a little incentive.
Edit: I’m going to ask specifically for FANS as well, anyone who came last week will know why.
Who did you use?
you. complete. me.
ALSO – franks ibuki, though he “dropped her after a week”, is still far superior to DJ’s. I’ve played both, Franks Ibuki = good, DJ, your ibuki = autopilot & jab mashing. Thats why you dont like the game, DJ, you lose because ur on autopilot. I’ve been there, and it sucks and its frustrating. Just take a break from it or learn another new character and then go back and HOPEFULLY your bad habits will be gone. You will never be good or like a game until you’re realistic about where your flaws exist and that there is still more to learn. Sorry to drop the truth bomb on you, but that is why you dont get better.
oh, and DSP - what makes AE not viable for tournament play? How is it any less tournament viable than ST? There is tons of bullshit in ST and there are very clearly defined tiers in that game. I could go on to defend other games but i dont feel like writing a novel. Im really just interested in your reasoning behind that statement.
I’ve been maining Kenshi. With a backup of Kung Lao.
You know what kenny, im glad you found that out. I hope it cripples your shenanigans.

The only thing I could think of is super was more balanced than AE. Its been stated by a lot of top players. It shows by how many people tier whore now.

Ah damn, I was going to counter pick Noob with Kenshi but even you can’t do it. >.>
Can’t wait to get bodied once school starts.
PEACE MY BROTHERS
lol
Im coming on wednesday what time does it start?
Kenshi is doable against Noob, its just his clone is quick and you have to be patient.
Also is there anything going on today? Im off work and want to play some marvel or Mk.

Justin Ill call you when i get out the gym
I think for the time being I’m going to definitely start taking marvel more seriously. Once I learn my new character and actually learn my other 2 ill be golden!!
You never even introduced yourself…mystery shopper?
Craig-Thats the problem with playing offensive characters. Offensive characters are auto pilot in general. If you’re not offensive…youre not playing to your strengths. Would a boxer use kicks? Would a Tae Kwon Do professional use punches often? Would a sumo wrestler kick? Would ken chuck fireballs all day? Does Guile approach?
You need to play to your characters strengths and tha its what ibuki does and how she creates her defense. Her defense is a solid offense, not the other way around which is why she sucked in SSF4. She needs to stun them, land her tsumuji loops, and be creative on her mix ups and baits to win her matches. Shes a mental character…like most offensive characters are. That’s why AE is ass. It’s a bunch of offensive and mental based characters doing safe moves that can’t be punished or the cast does not have a solid answer for. Anyone who thinks its competitive or at least, should be makes me sad. Same goes for UMVC3 as well. Air X Factor. I can’[t wait till I hear people start complaining with how stupid Doom, Akuma, Mags, Firebrand, and Taskmaster are in the air. I also lol’d hard at the supposed “nerfs” that Tron and Haggar needed and just exactly how much Wolverine got nerfed. Did he need changes? Yeah, but they ass raped him across the board. Just like Honda in SSF4
kenny challenged essex to a money match
Just like Honda is awful in AE, I mean, look at Mike Ross, he certainly isn’t placing top 8 in any majors and is in no way going to SBO even if he didn’t win. He got second. And who did his team lose to? A viper and another Honda. 2 non-offensive characters. Explain that? Viper isn’t offensive and rushdown. She’s mind games and mix ups. Also no, ibuki isn’t auto pilot. She is mind games. You can’t auto pilot mind games, you have to actually think about what your opponent will do. Auto pilot works at a beginner level but in tournament play it never gets far.

Need Henry Hatsworth in UMVC3, that’s all I’m saying.
MvC3 and MK9 are horribly broken bullshit right now and not viable for tournament play. AE is boredom to the level of a single-character CvS2 match.
MvC3 is literally Xmen vs. SF Part 2, with better graphics and flashier combos. But it’s the exact same gameplay: get hit once during a mixup, lose an entire character, attempt to block while your second character comes in, either do or don’t, repeat X 1000. The only difference is X-Factor, which is even MORE retardedly stupid since it makes it EASIER to 1-hit kill a character. 99% of the fighting game community complained about how Xmen vs SF was broken bullshit because it was too easy to do infinites and 1-hit kill characters, yet now we have MvC3 more than a decade later and people love it. Huh???
MK9 had massive potential because it played more like the classic MK games. Then they put in idiotic 40%+ damage combos and inescapable hitstrings so they could be “more flashy” like the other guys and sell more copies of the game. Now it sucks for competitive play - OOPS! Maybe focus on making a good game and it’ll sell itself instead of trying to appeal to the common moron and “get rich quick.” I guess they really didn’t learn from a decade of bad games and declining sales.
AE is not a BAD game. It’s just not fun to play at a tournament level. Having two characters who are intentionally better than the rest of the cast (thanks, Ono, you fucking idiot); nerfing almost everyone who didn’t need nerfs and turning the game into a boring turtle-fest, with a few mixups thrown in here and there. What the fuck was wrong with Super SF4? It barely got any face time before being made irrelevant by a new arcade release that made no logical sense. SSF4 could have lived at least another two years, and gotten a hell of a lot deeper, if Capcom didn’t cut off their own legs by making AE entirely too soon (and entirely too unbalanced). I hated SF4 because of Sagat, but outside of that it was FUN TO PLAY. Every time I play AE I realize how boring it is; it’s like playing CvS2 with one character, but without any Groove-variety to spice it up. I don’t feel like walking back and forth for 20 seconds at a time, desperately trying to get a hit in during a footsie game, but that’s what the game is turning into. This was MUCH better in Third Strike, where at least parries added another level to the gameplay…
Right now we’re experiencing the EXACT same thing that happened in the late-90s/early 2000s: a mass overflooding of the market with new fighting games, because of the hype that SF4 revived in the gaming community. But right now it’s a bad case of quantity over quality; I out of everyone had a unique opportunity this year to play fighting games full-time as a job, but after actually playing these new games on a competitive level, I decided against it. They’re just not that good, and to me, not that fun; I would have been BORED AS HELL traveling all over the country to play these games. Should we hope for better with SF vs Tekken, UMvC3, etc? I’m not so sure with the current track record (and the retard-level nerfs already announced for UMvC3, I think that game has no hope).
My only gripe with MK is that it isn’t getting enough exposure. What’s good about MK is that its at least getting constant patches to fix bugs and glitches. Unlike marvel which charges you 40 bucks to do so. The bad about MK is the rediculous negative edge that goes on. As far as combos yeah some are rediculous. Like rains 80% combo with no meter or xray. But overall its fun to me. I can’t say that for AE. Marvel holds me a little more than AE.

The creators are handling this game much better than UMK3, and that game was played in many tournaments, despite how overly broken some characters were in that game. I still don’t understand why people still bitch about MK9. It’s like no matter what these developers do, no one is ever satisfied. What more can you ask than patches? I guess that’s the reality of the FG community.
Cannot stand the complaints about any of these games. >.>
I like the idea of constant patching in MK, can be cumbersome when it comes to running tournaments since you cant roll back patches unless I am missing something. The control inputs can be eh at times but new games have made my execution a little loose, and I am not putting in the time like I once used to, with more and more of my time being dedicated to organizing things for the community. MK seems to have a good online present but the tournament scene is on life support so soon after release that I cant understand why? Issues with the gameplay get patched, the game is really aggressive and rewards it so, but it seems it is not enough to entice the casual market to come to tournaments
Yun and Yang weren’t intentionally broken. I’m pretty sure they were only playtested either with themselves or with Super characters, so they didn’t realize their folly until it was already done. Fact of the matter is, if you want it changed, tell Capcom, don’t complain about it here. Capcom WILL listen if enough people vocalize the desire to rebalance AE. And it won’t just be Yun/Yang too. I bet every character will get some kind of balance. The game isn’t THAT bad. Yun/Yang are above a lot of characters, but if you’re better than the Yun/Yang player, the character level can only take them so far. If you want to play defensively, go for it. The game isn’t specifically designed for rush down, it’s just some of the rush down cast is better. You can’t tell me non-rush down characters are bad. I will say it again, Mike Ross. AND Poongko. Those are 2 examples of great players who DON’T play strictly rush down characters and win/place very well in tournaments.
Bazinga.
