Ibuki and dudley aren’t even hard XD
No offense man, but it seems you overthink things. No need to analyze a game your not accepting to play as is. Just play or dont play it. too much to read man, just have fun.
I guess? But let me help you out some.
That was from Wednesday… As in 2 days ago.
DJ, you are wrong. plain and simple. And in regards to nobody playing the “lower half” on MVC2, you are completely wrong about that as well. You don’t know anything about what you are talking about and it is painfully obvious.
If second place counts as winning to you then go for it. =)
Shout outs to Team Marco Party of 3. Check please.
Also, Marvel is “random” at the average level of play. If it was so damn random why do we see the same names in top 16, sure they get shuffled around, but its the same as in any other game. Marvel is unpredictable and unforgiving. People bitch about Wolverine but how many times do you see Wolverine in the GF’s not being used by Tokido or Wong?
And how can you even say Clock is the best when he only started placing in WNF when Floe, Wong and Viscant were not present? I like how Wong loses to Tokido and suddenly he is garbage.
Clockwork has a stupid sick doom. I can honestly say he is NOT the best mvc3 player by any means. He is good, but that’s about it. He was and is a million times better at 2.
And btw, Jill is just straight up ass in magnetos fun factory 3. Leave her out of debate.

In the end, it’s all based on people’s preferences. I don’t like MVC3 but I don’t mind it if other people believe its a fun game. Some people prefer balanced fighting games and think they are fun. I personally prefer FGs where I can choose any character I like and still be able to win. =)
…ewwww…I have no words…
But it’s called preference I guess. But that sounds extremely mind numbing and very boring. (Mirror Match, Mirror Match, Mirror Match, etc) O_O
The difference here is that Fei, Yun, and Yang are manageable…I don’t mind fighting Ken every single day because he is beatable with any character in the game. I’ll choose random and i’m sure I can beat the character. But in MVC3, these “same characters” will destroy any team with no chemistry AKA the random select. But then again, it’s all based on the player. In MVC3, it just seems a lot more unlikely to see an upset than in SSF4. I tried bullshitting online against beast players…I think they know better by now. Plus, there is far more variation of use in SF than MVC3. I hardly see Spiderman or Shuma used in tournies so no thank you. =(
Anyone going to Gaming ETC tonight?
Its raining!!!
People in general that say bad thing to other games are doing it so they can feel good about them self and that they sucks so bad at it. Any other person would just ignore it like it never exist.
Doesn’t P. Gorath use Shuma, and I think Evil Rahsaan uses Spidey?
Anyways, anybody want to play anything? I will say that I’m a few beers deep and lost my glasses recently so the cards are obviously stacked in my favor for winning
I know that I suck at MVC3…just saying it’s not worth getting good at because I rather play and get better at other games. I have to have dropped the game for a reason so i’m telling these reason’s the best I can without bashing it. I’m sure if I was big in MVC2, i’d have some sense of what to do in MVC3. =\
essex is the best mvc3 player in the world because he beat kkcapcom2
Essex is the best because he’s the best
Circular reasoning
I fucking love this thread.
Hi tommytwotimesevenseven
I never played Marvel 2 and I think I at least have a sense of what to do. Just saying…
Just because an entire cast is viable does not mean its balanced. Your definition of balanced is “the viability of all the characters in the game.” That is not the whole part of it. That’s just a small aspect of the term balance.
There are two types of “balance” in a fighting game
balance of offense VS defense
and
balance of character usage
Execution is also important because it creates the “balance” of new age players and veterans. Example-Whats the overall balance of players in mvc3? Lots of new age. MVC2-Veterans hardcore. How about SSF4? More veteran but a nice addition of new players. SF4: Mostly older generation players. Most people (new blood) of the SF community came in for SSF4…not SF4. I’m talking GENERALLY. SSF4 brought the biggest crowd into the SF4 series. SF4 mostly brought the vets back because it revived the series but it also got new players into it as well. This is an underlooked part because this balance determines the overall interest of the game. Like no NEW player wants to get into MVC2 due to the games life span and execution of the game. And no solid good player wants to really play AE or MVC3. Whether you believe it or not top players WILL and DO SAY off the record/off youtube that they do not like the games and they like to play it for the money and that they are good at it. Do you really think Justin Wong would say that he hates AE? Come on now.
The reason why SF4 was the best SF to date in the SF4 series was because
A-Tightest links (it involved execution to its highest point of the series, but it still was accessible compared to ST or Third Strike)
B-It had the BEST balance of offensive and defensive characters that were VIABLE (Rog, Rufus, Akuma, Sagat, Akuma, Ryu.) Top tier was defensive character and the 3rd best was an offensive character. 5th was also offensive.
C-The game was fast paced similar to ST and was DEFENSIVE. Go turn on SF4 and play it and compare the damage to SSF4 even…you dont even need to do AE to see my point. Do an Akuma demon, do FADC ultra w ryu, do cammy FADC ultra. Everyone did their damage. Sagat was good but on paper, EVERYONE stood a great chance against him and it was not easy to be a good sagat at high levels. You needed to have the ability to know how and when to throw plasma.
Take a look at the tier lists for SF4 and SSF4 here and think about the POSSIBLE tier list (in your minds) of AE. The series has drastically gotten worse since SF4 Vanilla.
AE and MVC3 are beautiful examples of character viability. Both games have the whole cast being solid, right? But that doesn’t matter because the game is EASY and it is overly favoring one aspect. Defense OR OFFENSE. A truly solid fighter needs to have a balance of good defensive and offensive fighters. AE and MVC3 are random games with mashy offense and character viability with no balance what so ever. If a game is tooo offensive it becomes random because people are mashing out their broken easy offense (dive kicks, rekkas, kara throws, yun wake up random dps, mantis slashes, gief 1/4 screen 50-50s after any knockdown, etc) and when a game is overly defensive it becomes BORING and people are not drawn to that. (especially americans, because we are more aggressive players)
Let me help you out on a few things here Raion that you simply do not understand:
First and foremost Ibuki and Dudley are not easy. You’re a fucking moron if you think that. (This is coming from the Bison player) Whats so difficult about Bison? You have no comeback potential? That is not execution. That’s just your character model. Big whoop. You have average health and stun to make up for that. Low health characters have low health for a REASON. Gen, Viper, Akuma, Sakura, Evil Ryu, Ibuki, Sim, Fuerte, Makoto, Seth, Chun, Rose, etc are all high maintenance at high levels. There is a reason why Abel, Sagat, Gief, Ken, Ryu, Guile, and most of the characters w solid health have solid health. They are lower maintenance. If you are not learning your highest damage output for your set character you are NOT playing that character properly IMO. This is why Ryu is a favorite in SSF4 and SF4. His high damage output combos were not that difficult FHP-CR HP-Tatsu, cr hp-tatsu or FHP-Shoryu-FADC ultra were the core difficult punishers.
Bison is fucking simple. All of your combos work on everyone, your normals are fantastic, (any kick button cr or st is great) you do not need an ultra, you have great health, you can play defensively or offensively, your air to airs are great, build meter insanely well, great answers to projectiles, the best corner game, simple frame trap game.
Please, tell me why ibuki is easy. I await your response.
When you learn a character in SF you need to MAXIMIZE your damage in EVERY situation. If you do not do this, it is considered a mistake. Mashing one combo all day long is not high level play. Playing ibuki at high level play involves you to knowing so much shit that i could not even begin to jot down atm.
LOL Dudley is EASY? You should try doing
F MK-ST HK-EXMGB-Dash-Straight (not upper)
Counter hit F HP-cr jab-st hk-mgb
Overhead-HK-EX MGB
CR HP-ST HK-EX MGB
F MK-CR MP-ST HK-EX MGB
CR HK x3 (in corner, specific characters only)
CR LK-CR LP-ST HK-MGB
for starters.
Dudley is one of the highest execution relied characters in the game due to his lack of defense. You get a hit with him…you need to execute and deal damage because you’re going to have a tough time getting in again.
I need to eat. bye.
Please just stop already
