CT truly gives birth to gems. I love all of you B)
Sorry I just came on the scene literally a year ago this may. Suck my dick and pray you dont look at me the wrong way when I see you.
Keep rambling like you know what youre talking about bro.
After a comment like that I would be afraid to show my face at local tournaments or gatherings, but wait you don’t show up to any so you have nothing to worry about I guess.
Speaking of which there are more Massachusetts people at ttis Vernon tournament than CT people. Stay free Connecticut. Stay free.
I would have been there , but I am currently at work
Vernon may as well be in Massachusetts. Its like 10 minutes away lol.
Its not 10 minutes from Boston and a bunch of Boston kids are here. Stay free CT.
It’s my little brothers bday today lol been busy all day
And I got really excited when Don’t Jump said he was leaving, but yet again he completely contradicts himself.
yeeee, 1.5 hours, but its mad fun to see you guys. Getting killed in mvc3 wasnt fun but oh well. GGs to the CT guys we played! Hopefully some make it to souper tomorrow (street fighter weekendssss)
Who won SSF4?
Because you know I’m right and you just are BETTEr than ME so you think that constitutes highest level of play?
Highest level of play is all that matters when evaluating the quality of a game on a competitive scale. To be fair, most of the community is not high level. Most of us are mid to high mid level players slowly learning about the games we play. We don’t know everything. We are all just learning.
People like marn, daigo, dr chaos, wolfkrone, air, alex valle, etc are high level players. They win all the time. When people are trying to learn something they don’t go “I need to listen to mannyo or uryo on viper.” They look at the best. High level is extremely limitied and varied. No offence to anyone on here, but none of you are “high level” at all. You may be pretty good or place decently well but place good at majors consistently…that’s high level.
I don’t need to do be amazing at video games to see that. I’m not trying to disrespect anyone. Gridman just tried to make me look like a fool and I just spat right back in his face. Big whoop man, you’re pretty good at video games. You’re not high level.
Just so you know, you don’t have to play at the HIGHEST level of play to be considered a High level player. People that play at the highest level are considered TOP players, and I don’t just mean locally, I mean at a national level.
Like seriously I am reading some of the crap you are writing and it just doesn’t make sense.
Don’t pretend like you understand what distinguishes a high level player from anyone else, because you are just making yourself look ignorant and stupid. You are just spewing nonsense while naming a few known players. Anyone can do that.
Fall back DJ. You are wrong. And show some respect to one that has been around since CvS2.
YO CT, take some time to read this. Real talk guys.
Bro, I used to be like you. In a sense I am but keep alota stuff to myself. I don’t really read much of your posts but I see the comments when I’m trying to see what’s happening in CT. Just like go with the flow, if you think someone’s making an unintelligent comment or something, just let it be. And be sure not to post anything unintelligent yourself.
With that said, fighting games shouldn’t be all pussy-pampering fest, but it shouldn’t be gore-fest either. I think a lot of what is hurting CT is that people are not civil enough, and don’t make enough effort to really make it or help out. Now of course this isn’t everyone, but lets be real dudes, we’re all in the same boat, none of us are super rich, we all like fighting games, we wanna have lan plan, wanna have equal level competition, and NONE of us wanna get bodied by people from another state in our OWN tournaments.
Talk is talk, so when we can walk, let’s try and train to get ourselves better–even if you or me or anyone isn’t like omgletsbedaigolevel, 1. you can enjoy fighting games better when you have at least basic knowledge plus your own playstyle to execute your own tricks, and 2. not being FREE TEE anymore (meaning we should always place somewhere in top 3).
Also GGS for whoever showed up at BG. R.I.P. there yo, place was like my second home, hate to see it go. PROPS to mike (manager/owner) for busting HIS ass to keep that place open (and anyone else who helped).
I’d also like to add that I have a house in stafford springs that’s a fixer-upper. It’s about 15 minutes from BG. I have a LOT of ideas for how it’ll work, and shit. Just drop some stuff here. It’ll be good for June. Fit maybe 30 ish people. And it’ll be weekly (if it takes off), but start as a planned event where a lot of people have time to make it something grand to kick off.
I’ll be providing in said rooms/room (probably going to have it as an outhouse):
- 4 LCD 5ms delay monitors (best you get, without paying 1000000000000 dollars…at least as far as i know).
- 1 LCD Lagless monitor for tournament final matches/streaming
- Streaming equiptment (a bit later on). A projector, hooked up to the 1 LCD lagless monitor for hyping up finals and shit. Or if we wanna kick back and watch EVO stream or some big tourny while we play at fight night (Like Guard crush) we could project it from a computer onto the projector.
- I’ll be cooking for people, since I’m taking Cullinary, I’ll be able to make some nice meals =D for us to eat after we game for a bit.
- Wifi for those who show up with Laptops n shit.
- A computer open for people to check their emails and stuff.
- AC, so it’ll always be nice and cool/warm.
ya it’ll cost money but when i get a job i’m gonna start saving a good percentage and put it torwards it. I’d just like to hear from you guys what you would add to it/suggest for it/about it.
Why? I love the scene. I’m only good at SF4 series, though I play a lot of 3s GGPO (as Ryu). I love the scene, the people, etc. BG’s done a lot for me and the scene, at least for the small group we had there and I wanna give back. I just have to find the time to go to College and find a job and do this.

ALSO, to everyone in CT, I got a car. Make it to my house, and we can all carpool to mass tournies when CT isn’t hosting a thing (on weekends). Asiantom kindly hosts sessions or whatever that superbowl thing is called (sorry idk). But yeah. Let’s start making it up there.
The problem isn’t civility. The problem is that everyone wants to get better but then don’t make the effort to go out to tournaments/sessions/whathaveyou. Outside of a handful of people, the scene here is way too isolated. You might get a little better by playing the same people over and over but you’ll never make it to that next level.
I agree with this post entirely. Honestly, I’ll hug it out on this one. I honestly feel that as a new player i’m being judged on my skills more so than realizing I may not know everything and im instantly hated for it. Realyst, MannyO, and TommyTwoTime were the first three competitive members of the CT community that I met outside of Bwyon, Magno, (Sorry, i forgot your name man) and Jerry (i dont know his tag) . Honestly, I felt like I was more so picked on and degraded more so than being kindly introduced as a person. Frank and Will kept almost snapping at me almost when I would do something wrong in a match. My thoughts were this upon meeting people, “I bet these guys are cool. I really am excited to learn and pick up things and hopefully drop habits.” I wanted more of a “hey man, you should stop doing this. It’s not good because xxxxx” Not spoon fed advice, but just a quick friendly word of advice. Instead I got more of a vibe like “wow, these guys aren’t really being too helpful and willing to show me what im doing wrong in a friendly way…” Granted, obviously none of us were FRIENDS so there is that awkward silence and stuff at first. lol. But I just didnt feel happy playing with these guys. I wasn’t accepted as a new player who could be fun to play with.
With Esco, Magno, g0dhand, and Anderson for a quick example…really nice and cool people that give me advice and help me out. Shout outs to them.
No offense but Manny, you were a straight up dick when I first met you. Why? I never said anything bad to you ever and you’re just a straight up douche. I’m not saying you ARE DIRECTLY, but you certainly treat me like ass. You said I was just mashing, got salty when I beat you with T Hawk on Xbox pad in casuals, (when I didnt even care that i won) and didn’t even give me any form of advice or compliment any aspect of my game. Not to mention, you even got pissed after we played MVC3 on XBL and said, “God, this game is so mashy!” spreading the salt because you thought my shit was going to free…and I wasn’t. I’m not saying I’m better than you…because I’m not. You just don’t show any respect towards me at all. So why should I be friendly/respectful to you? If you’re respectful of me you bet your ass I’m going to be nice to you. That goes for all of you too. I’m only an ass if you deserve to be treated like crap. Like, Kryonik is a dick to me. You can bet your ass im just going to treat him like shit right back. Craig made a really good thought out PM to me the other day that I can tell was really thought out and respectful. Changed the way I look at him now for sure. He’s a good guy and he means well, definitely. Good Shit Craig.
Once again, I don’t expect to be praised by any means by anyone nor do I expect to be told I’m great at MVC3 or SSF4…because, I’m not. But I’m a pretty decent player and know my shit. I just have trouble with execution. But people are very unwilling to get together, be friendly, and contribute to CT’s growth as a community. I think we ALL (including me) need to get our head out of our asses and start growing up and helping each other get better and have fun.
I know and/or have met other people from out of state (LuckyD, CP, Stevens brothers, Henry Cen, Nerd Josh, Deeeeejay, Asiantom, Paul Wall, Arturo,) and I think they are all really cool people who are fun to play. They give me advice, do whatever in casuals, play for fun, and are also great to learn from and talk to about the game. I’ve been to a few of the Souper Bowl tournaments and love them. Shout outs to Tom for running great stuff there. When I come back to CT and I look at us compared to what they have going on…its just not as friendly here. They play like every week together and its completely open to whoever wants to play. Last I heard, Paul does stuff once a week and its really fun times. We do PF, PNT, and we all play online together sometimes late at night. That’s not as good as live play with a bunch of us or live play w one other person to get good quality matches in. Why do you think I made it a plan to go to Rich’s casual night? We need more of that. Not just tournaments. Because tournaments give like an hour of casuals and then its SERIOUS time. Part of growing as a player is experimenting and having fun with ideas, concepts for teams, normals that beat out annoying attacks, experimenting with invincibility on hypers, team synergy and ideas, etc.
Like talking to a brick wall.
You really don’t get it do you? There are sessions going on in CT a few times a week, it’s just that nobody wants to invite you. Everybody here is friends with each other and like hanging out and chilling even outside playing games. You need to understand that the problem is you and your ridiculous attitude as if you know what will help everybody get better when you still play like an xbox live scrub a full year into the game.
Also, Gridman and Weak Sauce are most definitely high level players btw, if you need proof of this all you’d have to do is go to a major and talk to other high level players about the different communities. Of course you can’t be bothered to show up and actually learn how to play better, so you won’t have that opportunity.
I’m the best mayne. I did it.
You deed it?
I guarantee if you try this shit in any other thread you will receive the same treatment.
Stop trying to play the victim. You ask for it all the time with all the crap you say.
