I think he lacks the understanding of how profitable these fighting games can be, and the details on how to make money from it. Their standpoints has (like in their email said), been trial and error. If we can show them that little by little that improvements in the Game Room on fighting games can make a difference, they’ll figure it out.

I worked at an arcade before and was able to see the profits generated by each game. DDR is by far the most profitable game, followed by CvS2, 3s, and MvC2. Our worst game was Tekken 4. I think it was like 426 dollars every 2 weeks for CvS2, and 633 dollars for DDR.
I’m sure there’s someone in a higher position that you could talk to about their company’s shit customer service.

Sooo, i think our best bet is the HAPP 360 in mvc2 and cvs2. and we should treasure those two game since they might be the only two we’ll ever get since their manufacturer do not provide them with more game.

Alright, I got some detailed news.
So today at around 2:45, i pass by the gameroom.
2:45.
-tech is there and he has mvc2 cab opened up and it looked he was installing 360s, i had to bounce to class at 3:00 so i left and didn’t ask.
4:00.
-so i come back and now he has the cvs2 cab opened up.
so i ask him if he’s installing 360s, (i’m looking at the bottom of the sticks and they looked like 360s) and he confirmed it. yes we have 360s.
But wait, dont’ be happy yet, i got horrible horrible news. so i’m watching him install the 360s into cvs2.
so here’s the INPUT test screen for clarity purpose.

so i watch him as he adjusts the 360s.
for some reason RIGHT and LEFT directions are reversed and UP and DOWN are fine.
right = LEFT
left = Right
he moves some wire connections and now he has:
right = LEFT
left = DOWN
DOWN = Right

this continues for 15 minutes…and in my head i’m thinking to myself “wow i could have figured it out from trial and error by now”. The only reason why he doesn’t have it figured out yet (even by luck) is because he checks the direction 5 times…SLOWLY. like right and left will be reversed and he’ll move the stick to the LEFT 5 times and get 5 “RIGHT” responses. he has to do this BETWEEN each wire switching. so he wastes A LOT of time from slow movement and redundant testing not to mention POOR POOR reaction. I think i’ve seen better learning comprehensive in monkeys.
So after 15 minutes of failure, i ask him “when you finish adjusting the 360s, do you mind if i ask you some questions and help test out the machine.”
his reponse: he looks at his watch (slowly might i add) and says “no, i am working overtime already. as soon as i finish i am going straight home.”
hey, i said to myself as long as the sticks have the correct directions and the buttons dont’ short out, it should be good i guess. i asked him if he could change it to 25 cents and he says it’s already on 25 cents “TRUST ME I CHECKED IT” he tells me. obviously the tech is a moron and i knew to force him to double check it. so after he FINALLY gets the directions correct (a good 30 minutes), i ask him to check the 25 cents cost.
he pushes a button for 1 credit. and he says "there you go."
and then i say “it’s still 50 cent to play”.
he points at the bottom left hand corner of the screen where it says :
“1 credit”
and then i point at the MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN where it said:
“insert more coins. 1/2 credit” and he looks at the screen (no response). so i proceed to push the start button saying “doesn’t work.”
and he responds “well i dont’ set the prices” .
wow, why does he respond so slow and poorly.
i ask him "can you talk to ur superior about changing it to 25 cents?"
he responds “what they do does not concern me”.

Btw, as he was about to lock up the machine i pointed at 2P side SHOT6 and it was still marked “1” and i said "can you take a look at that?"
what i wanted to say was "can you take a look at that GLARING problem."
so he does some really clumsy fiddling. fixes it (i think).
and he proceeds to rotate the stick to check that all directions work

not work. i ask him to check it and he moves to the bottom left corner and moves to it and shows that it clearly works. and he gives me a “you are pretty annoying” look. he proceeds to rotate the other stick, i’m a little digusted at him cuz i wanted him to double check his work because i think work ethics are horrible. anyways so i’m thinking “whatever i’ll test this shit out myself since you obviously dont’ give a shit and want to go home”
he locks up. and i know he was slow the whole time but when he left, he was like superman. GONE…
so i test cvs2 out.

-1p down left has a delay. I thought something was weird when i watched him rotate it i thought he just missed the corner (since i know people have issues blocking low on my 360 mas).
after some testing, here is how it works. when i go downleft, it’ll register as LEFT, then give or take 20-30frames, it’ll go downleft.
Hao comes in and he plays on the 2p side. Here’s the new observation
-2p LEFTUP does not work at all. it was my fault i didnt’ bother to over look the tech’s testing. i could have easily told him that he screwed up bad had i been watching that part.
-2p RIGHT-UP works if you TIGERKNEE a fireball motion to RIGHT UP in at a SLOW pace. else it doesn’t work either.
OH AND MARVEL PLAYERS:
you’re block doesn’t work. i didnt’ test it but i watched two people play and both players did RANDOM super and each time the other opponent would get hit by random full screen GROUND HVB and proceed to say “wtf i blocked that.”
soo…i dont’ know what else to tell ya. i’ll probably let dave pope know about this but…dave probably knows nothing about game maintenance anyways.

when i got on campus today the tech(an older guy) was closing up the mvc2 cabinet so i hop right on it to test it for myself. i felt the nice new joysticks and asked the tech if he fixed the jab on the 1p side as it’s inconsistant. he replied with a “yeah, i fixed everything” and being the naive person i am, i believe him. so on with my game, i tested it out by superjumping and jabbing 3 times in the hair. the very first jump i only got jab once. i inform the tech right next to me that jab was not working properly. he reaches over and mashes on the button about 10 times and tells me “i just got it 5 times in a row.” I then proceeded to demonstrate to him my method of testing it which clearly shows that it does not work all the time. He gives out an angry sigh and says “i just fixed that entire thing” and went back on with his business on cvs2.
some people started playing me and as one guy was selecting his characters with A2 on the 2p side. which I notice it not working all the time. seemed like the same problem with jab on the 1p side. before leaving to class i ask the tech if he can look at those two buttons when he was done. he gave me a look of disgust and told me that that guy is always complaining and he’s had to put up with it for years. i don’t know where this came from but i’m assuming he’s talking about allen :lol: then i told him this guy right here, who JUST got done playing on it said it does not work consistantly. he gave out another look of disgust and said he’s look at it when he’s done.
after class i came back to play it some more. i only played on 1p side the entire day so i can’t say much about 2p but it seemed like people were having the same problems. i did notice the jab working a lot better than before. i didn’t play mags or storm so i couldn’t tri-jump test it. sounds like all is well but little did i know another problem would soon surface…
doing quarter circle and half circle motions are extremely hard and nearly impossible to do consistantly. i noticed you had to over rotate the motion quite a bit. almost in the upward diagonals. i was playing strider and i had a lot of trouble activating and i couldn’t tell if it was jab not working 100% or it was me not being able to do the qcf motion.
so yeah we got 360’s. but for some reason they suck really bad. i’m going to attribute the problem to improper installation and testing.
keep us updated with new info, since I probably won’t be going to the game room for awhile, can use the money to buy my gf flowers and candy instead.
for the record, i’ve only talked to this tech once before yesterday. and when i talked to him, i asked him to put SVC on 25 cents instead of 50 cents on the day they brought that machine in.
There was another old tech (the fatter one without the beard), who i actually gave legit complaints and comments regarding stick and button performance and he straight up said to me “Ugh, what do you want” yes “ugh” instead of the facial expression he voiced it. (this was 2 years ago).
This current tech (the old skinny guy) seems anti-social and has horrible problem solving skills…and needs a bath. From what som said, i came in after som left. and that black guy(spiderman/cable one) was testing the machine and i watched him press jab multiple time, but he was using servbot and i couldn’t really tell if the jab was working properly but he didn’t bother talking tech or show digust while he played so i just ignored it.
P.S. I wrote this earlier but i’m gonna quote it again.
when i asked the old tech(ver. skinny) if i could ask him some questions after he’s done (because he looked like he was having a real tough time trying to move two wires correctly -_- ). his answer was “NOPE. I am going straight home after i finish. I am working overtime already.”
And after he got up to leave, i thanked him for coming and taking a look at it and he ignored me and left. I really do not want to work with patton vending any longer. I might just send an email to dave pope apologizing for the 360 request and tell them that their problem is techs who cannot install this and if we cannot get this done correctly then i am wasting my time and his time.
you should have gotten his name and put in a legitimate complaint. I would have said “Im sure your boss Dave would appreciate the effort youe giving” or “Dave will be hearing about your performance.” The laziness pains me.
Dave emailed me saying that the tech had left for csu @ 1:45.
and i told him that i saw the tech at 2:45. and gave him a description of what i observed. i’m sure Dave can figure out who i’m talking about. It’s kind of a moot point though because i dont’ think any of the tech knows how to properly install a 360 anyways.
oh, i forgot. the coin slot on mvc2 must be nothing because it was not included in the “everything” that he fixed.
they still haven’t fixed t5 here.
