my two cents:

less jumping. if you insist on back jump escapes, then probably use hk for the instant overhead or late-lariat punish. He can chase down an unblocked air tatsu with greenhand and put you in the corner.
more footsies, with mk, lk, cr.lk, and hp. follow most lks and cr.lks with either cancel to fireball or hp
fireball from just outside greenhand range, not fullscreen. a fullscreen fireball that gets lariated is a net loss for you.
if gief is giving you fullscreen, walk or dash forward
inside greenhand range, use down, neutral, mp for fake fireball to bait’n’punish
punish greenhand wiffs with pimp hand, try to avoid running away from it.
punish lariats with dash (dash) pimp hand

Thanks for the tips. I was playing extra carefully because there has been such terrible lag. I mean, first round I dropped two huge punishes near the end but then again, who knows, maybe I would have been KO’d by that point because I’m pretty sure he was feeling the same lag.

I do jump too much. Agreed. I get rewarded a lot for it though against most players, but then I run into a small group of killers that just eats that garbage up.

My friend climax, good choice in ultra 1, need work on anti air, either ex tatsu, lk tatsu or st, cr HP. You need to work on spacing better, fighting against gief full screen is nonsense. But I’ll give you the point because of the *?%+#&# lag!!!
So, try to wiff punish green hand with mp into something, if you throw an hado and your opponent jumps at you or does green hand and you block it, it means that you had enough time to do either counter or EX TATSU, just buffer the move, after your hadoken, trust me it works. A larriat happy gief you can dash 2x and do any tatsu, I’ll will hit him, and you can do ultra 1 too.

Try to react to green hand with ultra, or pull a luffy against snakes eyes, fireball fadc backdash ultra 1 (easier said than done) and just calm down a bit, he has to get in either jumping, walking or green hand, so for jump ex tatsu, walking when he gets close you can cr mp into hado and green hand try to punish it on reaction or block…

Ohhhh his cr roundhouse is -9 I think, so you have plenty of time to do something!!!

^ It’s -5 on cr.hk, -11 for the DF+HK. That’s plenty of time for a jab xx special move punish.

Try not to feel intimidated when a gief gets close. He’s barely throwing out normals. st.lk/cr.lk xx lp palm will keep him from walking in so freely.

I think the idea of staying outside his green hand range is best effective when not applied liberally all the time. Sometimes, you got to deceive them into thinking it’s a good time to use it. At the end of the 3rd round, you just kept walking on back. That’s a signal for him to walk up safely, and before you know it, you backed yourself into the corner. I get you were going for the back-it-up, then rush attack (i.e. palm, or dash up sweep), but use that sparingly I’d say as he saw something coming and jumped.

It might be useful to mixup your game here, so instead of walking back for like 3 seconds before unleashing a “surprise attack”, maybe you can just pause every now and then and either throw out a quick normal like st.lk/st.mk … or just step forward, and walk back/block to see if he was anticipating anything.

Here’s another one I barely survived. DeeJay is another problem character for me, and this player was just starting to learn him I think, although he’s a good player in general.

http://youtu.be/IrFN0m7gQno

So deejay is easier now than he was . They nerfed the lower body invincibility of his sobat kicks, so you can poke him to death with cr lk or cr mp. Attack his wakeup a lot. He doesn’t have a move against that, all his sobat kicks are at least -5 on block, so use ex tatsu or mp into palm. And his sweep is -5 at least (don’t remember how much exactly) so punish that shit!!! Other than that I think you just need to be a little patient

Hey Guys,
I fought Alioune for a set the other day, it was really good but unfortunately he doesn’t want me to put it on YouTube.
(I wouldn’t mind some advice for those matches which can still be found on Twitch : http://www.twitch.tv/kingblacktoof/c/4788821 )
^ As I’m practicing for a Tournament.

Actualy I dont want my lobby sets online at all. I dont mind when it’s ranked. One of the reasons me (and others) tend to play only ppl in their FL.

double post

Ahhhhhhhhh i see

I don’t actually understand completely but it’s fine. I’ve since taken the set down from twitch too.

So I’ve moved this here to try to tell you some stuff. I had to watch the video like three times to come up with this. Punish!!! Instead of punishing someone with sweep, do instead pain train (what ever into ex palm) and dash sweep. So you have your damage and can do your setup again!! I know you like your setup, so try to maximize your damage and do it again. If you’d done that, you wouldn’t have to spend that bar at the end of round 1. Try to go for flip after hardknockdown not soft, because you can open yourself for huge damage (here is more a mind game and mixup between flip throw, kick and focus) try to empty jump after palm and then do whatever, because if you empty jump their dp won’t have range. And I wanna know why you use ex flip when poking, because you have a distance of almost 2 bodies, either you’re trying to use the invincibility frames (which I think you’re not doing it for that purpose) or you’re trying to use the autocorrect for making it ambiguous cross up or not. There is my other 2 cents

da,mn son@@@@@ thats whats up , thanks …six and iams’s told me previously too…max punish is theonly way to roll in a serious game…def thanks alot i will look for it and stop going to sweep for everything…
and re: the ex flip vs claw is what i think youre reffereing to? was really for keeping flip pressure and for invincibility when poking to avoid his ex flash kick. I probably could have gotten similar results with mk flip…but a waste of meter since i didnt get anything out of with well, not right away

I will definiitely start posting here then since I can get a better dialogue going

the dudley beat me prior fight , this was my win over RS Zeal following a loss.

the vid vs gief is martij9 another great grappler I play almost weekly in ranked…

let me know what could be done better/different…thanks all.

VS Geif. IAT is good to use, but a few times you could have did nj hp > pain train but you opted to AT. Not that it’s a bad thing, but usually matches like Gief, simpler is usually better as you can save your EX for EX Tatsu. Also when you are not sure about the cl. st. mp > cr. hp link and you have EX, use cl. st. mp > lp > EX Tatsu… I use this a lot online as it’s an easier hit confirm.

I normally don’t jump at Gief if he’s not waking up. If I’m jumping, it’s normally a neutral jump, or GF grab, or I’m baiting with a short parry… but I usually do that against all characters who don’t have a fireball… seems like full screen they have nothing to do but wait.

Good use of GF Grab on his wake… you got greedy… lol.

Dudley. I think you played pretty solid, just watch out jumping in at him on non wake b/c he doesn’t have a fireball. The only thing that stood out that you need to refrain from is backing yourself into the corner. Especially against Dudley. If he is pressing to get in, feint back and then dash up and grab him. A lot of them seem to like to focus or do that dashing move and you can grab him out of it.

The end of this match was EPIC though. lol.

@takinflight‌

Vs. Gief: You rushed him down much more than I’d be comfortable doing. In that second round I was waiting for you to throw a fireball, lol. Still, it worked. Nice.

With the input , I make mental notes, and try to improve…again thank you all!

Well at least you took the note that i gave you before!!! Another 2 cents buddy

Okay, one good and one bad Gief match up. I have an idea what I need to change but it has a lot to do with reactions and links…let’s see what you guys say.
