After a month without internet (ISP), I’m back into SFIV - and my sights set on Akuma. So I done some recordings and ask the community for help on improvement.
So I ask:
What situationally/tactically/strategically am I not doing correctly? Should I be doing “this” as oppose to “that”? Should I do “less” of this and “more” of that?
Try not to worry about my execution. As that is solved simply from experience and practice. But more on strategical and tactical errors.
My current and specific focus is “Vietcong” aka VictorCharlies. I am struggling against his Ryu.
I’m also struggling against his other characters - which suggests he is simply above me a level or two. There are a few other guys on my friends list who are simply out of my league - probably best to start with this guy who I know I can topple… in the near future!

More AA and more demons. He had too many free jump-ins, either on knockdowns or otherwise that weren’t safe. On knockdown, srk that shit, otherwise it’s free cr.fierce. and everytime he focuses near you, demon his ass. He also seems to like srking your missed links, so bait that and punish accordingly.
Your ex flips could’ve almost all gone for a bnb instead of a whiffed palm then throw. Try to mix up your flips. I’m not sure if you’re trying to reset with your BnBs or you’re jus tmissing the hp srk, so work on that as well.
Never really sure when he will FA - so my demon on reaction is… not fast enough.
I was trying for resets off the BnB - but was failing. I just had more matches then… 11-0 his way against his Ryu. I was fighting more aggressively as I need to train up to his level of tactics.
I did as you suggested and baited a few DP’s out of him and punished. Thanks.
There’s one pain with fighting his Ryu. I was getting the DFLIP reset off the BnB consistently tonight… but it got countered EVERYTIME by his LP SRK.
It was the st.hp xxDFLIP+mk… and got countered EVERYTIME by his quick LP SRK.
So… resets are no go against Ryu? Just stick with the HP SRK punish…
It all depends on how reversal happy your opponent is. Condition him into lp srking, then do a low jab reset then block. He’ll whiff, you get another BnB and likely a dizzy. As for demoning FAs, always buffer your jabs in your c.hk or c.mk when you have demon. When your opponent FAs, hit back+lk+hp, if he doesn’t cancel into a fireball or a demon flip or just block. You can also reset with hp and do a hk flip to sail over his reversal. If you’re godly with the timing you can even throw them out of the lp srk’s non-invincible grounded frames.
I don’t know if this is the official video thread. Seriously you guys need to sticky some stuff. I saw 3 threads that had Q&A, which all had 150+ replies, and a lot more of those threads.
Video should be stickied : D

Gods garden, Shiro vs Tokido Akuma. sick links he did man. I didn’t really know akuma could link all that shi.
You basically used what the Balrog gave you dude. Good stuff. He was easy focus bait for the most part.
One thing I’m going to start doing in the Balrog match up is working on punishing that gimmicky ass overhead harder. Instead of light shoryu, try doing c.lk,light tatsu, light shoryuxfadc red hadou or fierce shoryu. Owns him harder.
I’m going to try and upload more videos in the next couple days, trying to fix some of my problems and really push to improve, my performance hasn’t quite been where I want it lately.

Have this game since June and had never played fighting games, so it was big transition.
Would appreciate it if some feedback could be given about my game.
A match I played with a random online player. He played Ryu and Bison / Dictator in this match. I messed up during the Bison match with losing that big lead, and I ate a lot of DP option selects during the Ryu match.
