But I don’t like how you do like cr. mp/mk xx demon flip. This is punishable by everyone with a jump to any normal.
Also, you were sticking with like the same timing of your cr. mp the whole time even though he was blocking them all. If you see them block, try delaying it slightly the next time you’re in that same situation.
If he’s doing the 50/50 kunai mixup, FA absorbing and then dashing out is a pretty good escape.
I don’t know too much about the Ibuki matchup, so can’t help you much. :\ I do know that cr. mk is just a crazy good poke against her.
Yeah those Demon flips are hard to break, they pay off here n there but not worth it.
when i fought Deadbeat he denied every Demonflip during casuals he showed me the cross up srk Motion F,DF,D,DB,B Punch and Srk comes out! tell him i said thanks!!
i saw when i could of won the match at 2:36 with the Ex uppercut but i wasn’t paying attention to the health or ex meters…I dropped a lot of combos and was really nervous to be honest. the Ibuki match up is one im really not familiar with so it was a uphill Battle for me not really knowing what to do since i couldn’t Tatsu sweep. and her spin kicks kept my normals at bay…
i have another vid of me vs Boxer but it isnt uploaded yet ill post when its up.
thanks for you’re advice and time guys!
i hope to be at your Level soon richard
Haha, thanks but I’m still in the need of improving as well. I have been changing my game in training mode recently and have yet to implement some things against other people.
I also might be getting a 1-month Xbox Live subscription for this winter break. I’ll post up my gamertag here if I do. I don’t get to play any Akuma’s. Actually, I don’t get to play much at all. Most of my playtime is just in training mode. :\
he was unothodox in the sense that he refused to block on wakeup no matter what…he also kept on doing ex rushes after blocked FAs even though he was getting DPed all the time. Let’s simpy say he wasn’t really smart and/or good at adapting.
Nice OS U2, but you did most of the df palm OS sweep wrong…you’re doing the sweep too late and it’s coming out even if your opponent is blocking.
It’s an effective Super gimmick as part of the general demon flip mix-up game, especially since people generally can’t resist hitting tech every time you pass over them. I understand it’s a crutch that becomes a habit and much like Ryus cross-tatsu to Super; when you have meter, they be dumb not to expect the cross tatsu. But to say not to use cross-tatsu when you have Ryus Super still seems like a strange policy.
@ Breez3
Something else I noticed in the vid is that the guy was throwing out EX Messiah Kicks practically every time you so much as breathed on him. With a U2 in the match-up you should be more prepared to adapt to this better and punish him for it.
far HP is generally a good move to stop Rufus abusing dive kicks to get in. You need answers for dive kick beyond just blocking and trying to tech out of the pressure or Rufus players will just abuse it to no end at all points of the match and wear you down. SRK, cr.MP, cr.HP, jump back moves etc are all tools you can use to stop dive kicks at times when they are used up close.
Walking forward after throwing a fireball is generally the way to go in trapping Rufus with fireballs as they’re almost guaranteed to use some form of jump and/or dive kick method for maneuvering around it. Walk forward to look for a potential far HP anti air, a dive kick sweep, an AA SRK or in some cases a chance to setup a jump-in. You don’t put your self in any danger doing this if your AA is solid, so just see if there is anything he will give you.
You need to be confident with anti airs. Make sure you are familiar and comfortable in using SRK, cr.HP and far HP for stopping different jumps in different situations.
Normal jumps, command dive kick, demon flips (dive kick/palm or throw), air fireball jump-ins (with jab, MP or EX) are ways to mix-up your jumps against their AAs. A character who AAs with a normal like Rufus’ stand fierce or crouch strong cannot AA demon flip dive kick and demon flip throw/palm with the same timing. Stuff like Rufus’ EX Snake Strike and jump roundhouse are effective against all of these though; so use caution and understanding of how and in what situations to work your mind games.
yeah except ryu can hit confirm from his crossup tatsu, with akuma you risk throwing away 4 bars because the other guy did a reversal/jumped away.
I mean, it’s not like i’m saying that it should never be done, but comparing it to ryu’s xup tatsu>super is nonsense.
Thanks for the Rufus tips Richard, but about the overhead:
I suck at landing it myself and my frametraps/footsies game is horrible, but I’ve seen Tokido and Infiltration use it a lot, in the 100 game set between Daigo and Tokido he landed so many overheads vs Daigo (I didn’t even watch it entirely), wouldn’t it be useful once you train your opponent to be afraid pressing buttons?
The overhead is mainly mixup and pressure. Now if you and Richard are referring to the MK crossup overhead then I’d have to agree with Richard. It’s rather ineffective - slow, no stun advantage, and easily reversed especially by mashed srk counters even grabs. I like the command MK dive kick though as its ambiguous overhead and hang time stuffs just about everything. Not the easiest to pull off unfortunately. Tokido uses it regularly. The only issue I have with it is stun. It does practically none though most opponents caught by it fail to mash srk or other counters.
Use overheads sparingly, mainly as mixup and when on the pressure after a knockdown where its safest.
I do but not lately, last time i was there was for The singles. i placed 16th under "Aww Doom"
as for akuma players there i hardly see them either, During Vanilla Tho i was getting Looped like Crazy B/c i used Sagat lol
Maybe we can Arrange a akuma meet up there some time what do you guys think?
Tokido just seemed kind of annoyed so he just wanted to go and annoy him with the overhead. That’s just what it seemed like to me.
But yeah, it’s just low damage and stun. I guess you can do it if it is for the win or for the stun, but this is when most lower-level players get desperate and mash something.
And if you “train your opponent to be afraid of pressing buttons,” you should throw. Lol.
These are a couple of matches I´ve had against a friend of mine who mains Guy:

Recently, I´ve been learning how to tatsu > sweep properly with the use of Plink. Now I realize how powerful a knockdown can be for Akuma and why Tokido says you have to look for it no matter what.
This is a comeback I found kinda funny. I was playing terribly, but then Guile´s theme started playing in my head, lol:
Anybody got anytips for the timing on the tatsu sweep knockdown combo. It seems terribly strict. I can land it about one out of five times. Is there a trick to landing it more consistantly? Thanks
He was being predictable. As soon as he was in range, he’d use green hand. I thought that the first U2 you could’ve (should’ve??) landed it without TP’ing in…
Plink the sweep if you’re using a stick (HK~MK), plus try to practice against one of the easier characters to tatsu > sweep at the beginning, such as Balrog, timing is pretty lenient to sweep him compared to Sagat for example.
