"Critique My Akuma!" Video Blog Thread

Nothing wrong with the DP ender on Cammy since she bleeds but in order to turn the match around the Akuma player needs to perfect the dive kick OS.

This OS will open Cammy up for some heavy damage if she goes for a spike. I’ve been messing with the divekick timing and it is possible to simply beat the spike straight up with the dive kick. Once I have the timing perfected I will post a vid.

i personally think that its possible to duck and good a big free punish.

eg. duck, cmp, cmp, ball fadc combo. or duck, c.lk,clp, tatsu bnb. i tried those in the but either done to early and hit her causing her to float.

er…if you can srk that spinning back fist i reckon its either your on 3 cans of red bull or opponent just randomly does it IMO…

been trying to work on that, bad habits against character that dives in (blanka)
either way plenty of things to consider. blocking her meaty spiral arrow which is like 0 to -2 on block is very disturbing…

so far, i’ve dealt with 4 cammys. 3 of them was reversal happy and I ate them alive. block srk with safejump into st.hk, c,lk ,tatsu bnb sweep and mk divekick and they still uppercut even though they will whiff.

SJOSing her is probably the most difficult task but also is the only way to win the match easily. therefore i will spend most of the time doing sweep and try each every round possible chance to mix her up with safejump. unless the srk is gonna kill her.

Sorry it took me so long. I know Rugi had asked me to post these a while ago, but I just got around to doing this so:

I wanted to do something a little different with these vids of me playing. Different yet oddly familiar: since there’s a lot of peeps doing commentary on SF videos now, I decided to follow suite! Please watch and leave a comment on my youtube page or right here. I think I offer up a pretty good analysis of my faults, but I could always use “2nd opinions” (or 3rd… Or 15th for that matter!!).

(UPDATED) Part two is now up!

Since I promised I’d offer you some help I’ll give a write-up of the video in a bit.
Hopefully if I start trying to break down other people’s videos this thread can be
a little more active.

Hold off a bit, I have the 2nd part going up tonight…

***Update: Part Two is up now. ***

I don’t have time to write a big collum, but I would say the biggest problem I noticed was your use of safe jumps. You weren’t really using them properly and let your foe stand up for free.

Second problem in the Chun match up you took too much damage from pokes. You need to work on your footsies. Also in the Chun match up you weren’t really punishing air as well as you did in the Bison match up.

lol @ ROOG’s youtube video titles. REWG

I would really love to get some of my videos up so I can get them critiqued, but I don’t have anyway I can put them up on my computer. Is there anyone kind enough that can record some of my matches in my replay channel and put them up for me? I really don’t have anything to give back, but it would be greatly appreciated =)

I need help in the Dictator matchup.

Too often I’m getting rushed down with his strong poke game. This is a recent Ranked match I had where the guy completely destroyed me in the early going until I got settled. All critiques are welcome as I desperately want to improve.

try blocking, that usually stops you from being hit by bisons attacks

Just be very conservative in the footsies game, or don’t play it at all. What I tend to do is just be lame: if he tries to footsie, block and then tele or cowardcopter away. Don’t worry about zoning because of the headstomps. Just wait for a mistake, get the untechable and go to work. He doesn’t have many options against Vortex. Also, look for blocked slides, EX scissors, or crushers, and punish, preferably with Demon.

I need input on this match-up and what i should look for other then the droped combos from lag and mashed srk

Here is some encouragement for the Akuma players in training. I was going back over some really old footage of mine and I can say, MAN I WAS HORRIBLE.

This first video was a week after Champ mode came out for the original SF4 almost 2 years ago. Back then I was still playing on a pad, but overall I didn’t know anything about the game. No wake up pressure to speak of, nothing. So then I checked out some videos from a couple weeks later.

I show some improvement, but I still didn’t know how to finish games. I often lost pressure and let my opponent out of high pressure situations. I didn’t know how to work my way in and as a result I never got the big paydays for damage. I even failed to turn hit confirms into combos.

sZuBQJnC1CQ]YouTube - Super Street Fighter 4 Endless LoyalSol(Akuma) vs RIPjBdamack(Rufus) [Match 3

This is a much more recent video against a reasonably good rufus player. This was taken about 2 months ago. I am finding I am much more patient in these videos, but still make the occational mistake. Though once I do work my way in I take advantage of as many mistakes as possible.

I am starting to find I am holding my own more and more against players of higher quality and can usually steal a few wins when I should have lost. I still have a long ways to go and by no means am I the best Akuma on these boards, but when I compare to where I am now to where I use to be I can say I have made great progress.

So don’t lose hope, if you get punched in the face stand back up and learn from it.

That rufus wasn’t really good…his dive kick pressure sucked…divekick s.lk s.hp xx tornado every time even if you were blocking…shit everyone can do that, where’s the pressure?

You played well enough, but your meter usage wasn’t good…you always need to have 2 bars vs rufus and also use U2 for those blocked ex messiahs. Full screen ex air fb aren’t a good idea and you were also a bit too demon flip happy…rufus j.hk into ex ss or ultra hurts…a lot. Also quite a few unpunished teleports…

After crossup tatsu you have to sweep…NOT s.hk. That reset sucks as bad as abel’s wakeup. Sweep him.

After s.hk if you hit him from far away you have to do s.lp into sweep.

After hitting him in the air with that random jump tatsu…guess…sweep, not lp reset.

Df throw really fucks up his wakeup.

You were teleporting too much, but he wasn’t punishing so…

I´m totally lost on the Makoto matchup, need some serious help with this one.

Any feedback on both videos will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
