"Critique My Akuma!" Video Blog Thread

I think you’re a great Akuma, the ending of your first match where you threw a hadou into the Shun Goku Statsu was NICE (right here: ). I’m going to start using Akuma hardcore, these videos are giving me ideas.

Nice Videos.
Definately learning something here.

here are my videos by the way - my good ones that is…

Thx for any advices.

Turn down your speakers before watching Spyx youtube clips… wow…blasted a hole in my head

Yeah sorry I don’t know why but the intro is overpowered since youtube converted the video.

Wow, these videos are impressive! Never thought of the fireball into demon trick. Just a question: how long have you guys been using Akuma for? I’m just curious to see how long it might take me. Cheers.

any feedback is appreciated.

Don’t get me wrong, I think you drive a capable Akuma and these matches aren’t indicative of where you’re at but I can’t help but feel that in your last few videos shared that you’re not taking charge of matches enough. Its almost as if you’re often on the back foot and being pushed around with your movements being dictated by your opponent. You place a lot of emphasis on spacing which in many ways is reminiscent of Momochi’s patient style but I think this would be well complimented if you threw more offence in there.

Obviously we have no gauge on how tense matches are or perhaps how cautious you’re choosing to approach some games, but I think it would bode well for you to try and work on your attack. Try focusing on taking the fight to your opponents for a few games and see how it works for you. I feel like you’re leaving a lot of Akuma’s offensive tools untouched which I think would be a good asset to an otherwise solid game.

Tokido is a good example of an Akuma player who clenches his teeth and rips in with a healthy dose of offensive violence and I also like our resident Shin Akuma204’s offensive style - particularly when you consider a lot of his better demonstrations of offence are actually from tournament videos where people usually play more reserved styles.

Give offence and attack a focus for a couple of weeks and then bundle it into your current style thereafter and see what the blend is like. I think you’ll see some nice improvements for sure.

WOW!!! My Akuma sucks :shake:

Noob

Noob here can you guys critique my akuma? Go harsh as you want.

oh im the guy on the left

All I have to say is you are not yet ready grasshopper … and the other guy was major noob.

As for Magamo, while true that an offensive akuma is menacing, one has to have perfect execution to pull it off like tokido which is why a zoning akuma is more favorable. That said being offensive is match up specific imo. Examp… go all out against gief but not against ryu or ken due to spam shoryu etc. J ust my honest opinion.

It took me forever to learn akuma … note I said learn not master. Akuma is rough if you want to play him competitively. It will take time less you are a veteran sf player.

As for the hado into demon, that’s not as reliable or a guarantee as it appears. Against good opponents it will likely never work.

i think you did fairly well considering that you’re new.
some things to work on:

 1. throws.
 2. mix ups, it was extremely easy to figure out your gameplan after the first round. (includes throws, x-up tatsu, overheads)
 3. more ways into the BnB.
 4. AA demon. the hadou->demon isn’t as reliable.
 5. more crossups.

but so far your game looks like its on the right path. keep it up and good luck.

Daigo Umehara was in Australia recently for EVO APAC, and I got a chance to Money Match him. Here is the video.

As you can see, I was playing really bad because of nervousness and being star struck. Like… watch the end of round one… =/
I barely hit any of my combos, punished like a dumbass. It hurts to watch. =P

Anything else I missed?.. Thanks guys.

omg 48 wins lol…

@EXC355UM
Do you always use focus attack that much?
And how much do you have to pay to play Daigo these days?

He was up to like 70 in another video, it’s pretty amazing.

…Why are you wearing those gloves. And way too much Far RH. I can’t believe it was blocked high that many times.

Hey man, yeah, I tend to focus a lot, though I think I was over doing it in that game. I think I was freaking out. =P
And he had about 3 streaks that went to about 70wins. The night before he was on like 60 before the 360 red ringed. He went to dinner, came back and went on another rampage.

@West:
The gloves are because I tend to get nervous in tournaments and my palms sweat, so I tend to make a lot of mistakes. Didn’t seem to help too much here though. =P
And yeah, one of my main problems is Far RH’ing crouching opponents. I am working on it though, and many other parts of my game.

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it.

Regarding to my vid, the last few seconds, I had the cr.lp, cr.lp going but failed to really finish a combo.

I’ve seen some go cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.mk to hadoken. I have the TE stick and still getting used to it, but when I try those inputs, it doesnt go through all the way? Any tips? and if I do get it, comes out slow. lol sorry total noob here
