Yeah he tries to do that when he knows I’m gonna use a FB, which makes it hard for me to FB the crap out of him. But then again the same goed for him because of my EX DF which does a nice ~350 dmg.
He teleports out of it… that is, if I can get close enough to do that. I have to jump at him and that’s hard from full screen away.
I never use that move because of the timing, but I’ll look into that.
Never tried that, but it doesn’t seem very useful.
I mostly use the DF for fast movement (whiffing palm).
Oh that’s right, even if I get hit it still connects right?
Thanks alot, I appreciate it and I’ll try to incorportate it into my playing
Sorry for the late reply, I had things to do lately.
But nevertheless, thanks for the advice, to all of the repliers.
I tried those mixups, I can get crossup tatsu in pretty easy lately but I have serious problems on the jump ins.
It always seems like sagat can dp me, demon flip dive kick can stuff him but an ambiguous crossup or demon flip grab seem to be useless against sagat on wake up.
Any advice on zoning or timing on this part?
Just posted up a bunch of new Akuma match vids on my youtube channel - www.youtube.com/user/krayzeejl if anyone has time or interest please check them out an offer me some feedback…
that fei sucked hard…blocked rekkas (3 hits) are mad unsafe…you should ultra or s.hp xx lk tatsu whatever when blocking those…throwing is always a bad idea when you can deal 300+ damage for free…same for his flame kick…that shit takes like 2 seconds to recover, you can do whatever you want, don’t waste those opportunities with a throw
Is that reset after tatsu even worth it? What’s the damage difference between a light tatsu cr. jab reset into a forward throw and a light tatsu fierce shoryu?
One reason why I might think the reset has the perks is that you put the guy in an untechable knockdown and allow yourself to put him into another vortex, but the only mixup I saw you do in the games is jump forward air fireball. I suggest you incorporate more mixups and hone on your vortex game.
The damage difference isn’t much but after a df throw you can set up many different thing like
cross up air fireball (which you can combo afterwards)
fake crossup air fireball
crossup tatsu
empty jump in with option select throw. You either tech or start a c.lk string/combo
The s.hp reset does more damage but everyone has seen that by now and it’s slow as shit…a lot of people will jump away or straight up srk…the c.lp reset instead is a lot faster and is more likely to catch your opponent by surprise
It certainly is when you’ve landed a serious combo and your next options (usually while they’re dizzy) result in some serious scaling. I opt for a reset just so my punish combo actually does some damage and not pluck off a few pixels.
I toss resets in now and then just to keep things mixed up and varied. I figure the more variation you place on your Akuma use, the more difficult you are to read. Resets keep your opponents guessing. Yes, they are risky against some opponents, but you’ll be surprised how many you can sneak in.
Oh I understand it’s a useful thing to have in your mixups. But I’m just saying because every time I saw him land a light tatsu, he seemed to use the reset.
Ya that thing is hella fast. Want to catch a Sagat by surprise? If you have him in the corner and you’ve done a BnB into LK Tatsu, do cr.LP or cl.LP XX FADC XX Dash Forward. You’ll instantly pop on the other side of Sagat the moment he stands up. You can go right into cr.LK option select.
Its SO unsafe but I will sometimes go for an ultra after a lp reset, its fun to catch them because they’ve seen me throw or try some other shenangins… again I understand its SUPER unsafe…
I REALLY would like to switch over to the HP reset after lk tatsu, but I just cant get the timing right… what is the pros/cons of going w/ HP reset? I know damage/stun is a big deal… any thoughts?
The pros are the damage and stun…it also gives you the perfect spacing for an ambiguous cross up tatsu if you jump right when the s.hp animation finishes.
The cons are that it’s slow and everyone saw it a lot of times and won’t fall for it
I know i’m not very good but could i get a few pointers? From what i notice myself i should use a bit more DF throws and empty jumps on wakeup to mix him up, and I usually do. It’s just that i ate alot of DP trying to do that last time we played, so i tried to refrain from it this time. I also seem to play a bit repetetive and predictable, and WHY have I started to punish with cr.mp > bnb instead of st.hk or demon… such a sucky habit that i need to get rid of asap.
Wow nice Akuma ! Just watching it quickly, and I have a horrible Akuma but I spotted a few things. In the first match Round three when you get light tatsu->HP.Shoryuken->FADC->red fireball… that FADC was kind of pointless wasted 2 bars and did really no damage.
I also notice you land that c.MK a lot just follow-up on that with a fireball etc.
Akuma has sick EX moves so try not to waste them as much as possible. I’m not the best person to give advice but I think these are all easy things to fix.
Last thing, and I noticed this in the Vega match the most but try not to get to predictable on the wakeup throws, Vega punished you way harder then he should have been able to becuase the Vega knew what you were going for everytime.
RAzz, in your Sagat matches, personally I do not think you did anything wrong. Sagat’s pressuring just got to you in set 01. (Who doesn’t get overwhelmed by it?) But you redeemed yourself in set 02 - somewhat :). I noticed you did not use the Demon Palm at all. It might have been good for jump-in mixups IMO. (BTW - I am jealous of your HK-LP loop and X-up fireball. Any pointers as I cannot execute these presently regardless of how much I have “trained/practiced” … Thanks in advance.)
I was thinking EXACTLY that when I watched his vid (I’m even sure I left a comment saying just that under that vid…hmmmm). Anyways, yeah, when I saw his head pop out, I immediately heard “TOASTY!!!” in a high pitched voice!
Thanks for the games last night LoyalSol! Not many opennings in your game, though I was fighting the lag more than you. I don’t know if it was bad for you, if it was, it didn’t show much as you landed most of your combos on me. I don’t get it though, I’ve played against people in San Jose with 3 bar connections and it was smoother than that. Are you running through a router? If so, have you tried opening the proper ports for your Xbox 360? That could be a factor… Or it could be your ISP; my connection’s a 10 Mbps fiber-optics ADSL 2 connection. What’s yours?
Oh, and for some reason, my HD PVR didn’t record our matches. In fact, I had been playing for almost an hour before we started our matches and I thought it was recording everything (my PVR glows blue when it’s recording) but it only capture the first 7 minutes… Too bad.
