CPS3 Broken!!!

ahhhhhhh WORKS great now, selecting multiple and changing together
good work man, amazing program

what are the plans for the preview button?

someone wanna help me change yun’s red to blue and yang’s blue to red?

A single sprite per character that opens up in another window. What I had planned originally was to randomize the palette with no duplicate entries, load character with the randomized palette through the emulator, save the screenshot, and get every color in the image and assign it to the entry in the saved ACT file. Some entries aren’t assigned correctly and the result is a preview with some missing colors.

Please check your links.

sorry ?

i patched my yun character

yet some colors didn’t save… and won’t change… wtf?

as in… i changed the color… set it… applied it… now 3s wont recognize the changes i’ve made

as you will notice… there is NO colors like is shown on my character… wtf

why am i getting those bullshit colors? i want blue and white… not gold and some shit orange.

can you not edit more than once?

i basically copied yang’s pallet

can certain pallets have stagnant things? like that damn yellow/ugly orange?

When you click apply, the memory in the program updates it’s core values from the palette. It does not patch.

When you click revert, it restores when you first loaded or last apply/patch.

EDIT: Oh yeah, if you want to copy from a char to another, just save the palette, and load it when another is selected.

btw that brown shit might match his arms+face so changing it will make them MIGHT make them look odd :frowning:

unless i start with a FRESH patch, i cant edit pallets

Fresh patch… meaning, when you load the file? I made 3 modifications to Yun’s mp and patched them separately and it looks fine.

I’ll explain how it works…

When you load a 51, it reads all of the palettes on the file the program supports into program memory. When you click apply, or select yes to apply changes, the memory gets updated with the modifications, not the actual 51. When you patch, *(it applies THEN) it takes what’s in memory and replaces the 51 palette’s with the one in program memory. All changes you want to see in the game must be patched.

So, I’ve tried to fiddle with this too.

Same story for me, despite following your how-to. I believe. What did you switch between the above post and your later one, to get it to fly?

Thanks.

This patch fails. Mame no longer reads SFiii3 rom when you replace the 51 file…

yes it does, just doesnt recognize the file… but it still runs

i do that… i apply then patch the file… and it either doesnt change it or the file does not apply it correctly

The only reason why you might not see changes in files immediately with mame (unlike nebula, where it is loaded on the fly) is because mame loads files differently… I think. (This is why it loads faster than the first time you load the game.) I tried it on mame and I saw no differences. What might work is loading a different game, like NG or Warzard, then reloading sfiii3 to refresh it’s files. My laptop won’t let me do that though.

It’s fine on nebula though. Again, to load modified files, extract the sfiii3 zip into roms\sfiii3\ in the nebula folder.

hi, here’s what I came up with.

I tried loading a palette I made for mugen and it didn’t work, the whole palette displayed black, as I just tried twice, and as there may be many possible reasons for this not to work, please feel free to try on your side.

The reason my changes would not show up in Mame at first were that it was using the nvram. I got rid of it and my changes were there.
I only patched the NOCD version for now, as having custom palettes to show up in SF3 (with CD) would require deleting its nvram and thus re-flashing the CD for 20 minutes. So I’ll do it when I got all my palettes straight, in case I wanna do more.
Haven’t tried in Elsemi’s emu yet.

Nice work Suupabuu, really. Thanks!

PS : extra misc stuff, will you add paletting for small portraits as well? (not that I think it matters, I’m just curious)

PPS: on a side note, you spoke earlier about collision boxes, velocities and animation data… I understand it may not have much interest for your paletting programm, but is there a chance that you would share that particular knowledge with other people? I’m thinking of mugen people of course as they sure could use that kind of info.
Don’t mind me if you’ve been flooded with PMs begging for that, I really don’t mean to be rude and understand the huge amount of work it already required to achieve your first version and the lot more work you’'l have to go through to implement further changes.
keep it up!

**Ok, only works in Nebula. Good to know. I got something I want to edit  thankx **

works for both.

here, another one of the custom oro palette as the previous shot didn’t show it very well, plus a gouki like palette for ryu

**Not for me.

  • bah, nevermind. It’s annoying without a preview window. going back and forth constantly to see what shades to fix… I give up. and move onto other things…**
