CPS3 Broken!!!

To all the people not getting full speed with MAME, let me tell you a little bad news.

Currently, the CPS3 MAME driver is configured to run the SH-2 CPU at an underclocked speed of 10MHz rather than the full 24MHz due to development.

What does this mean? It means sooner or later the MAME team are going to emulate the SH2 at full speed and that means those who are getting poor speeds now are going to find matters much worse. This info is from HAZE himself who is a mamedev.

If you have a dual core CPU then you have nothing to worry about. The slowdowns that occur in CPS3 games are also due to the underclocked SH-2.

Its best for those with slow PCs to stick with ElSemi’s CPS3 emu and hope he adds netplay soon.

I have an older PC and ElSemi’s CPS3 Emu still doesn’t work :sad:

Nobody was able to help me with my problem of loading the CPS3 and the error it gave me!

I am using mame 32 plus plus and i am having a hard time having it street fighter 3, is there some file im missing that allows me to play cps3 games?

Nope, as far as I know there is no way unless you write a trainer-like program that hacks straight into the memory address of the CPS3 emu by ElSemi.

Its also impossible to play as Shin Akuma without a hack in SF2I and SF3TS no matter what grade or perfects you get.

Any chance you’ll share the memory addresses with us so we can mess around in MAME too? I appreciate the work you did, but theres no need to make everyone do it. I have some quick and dirty cheats that other people made and I gathered from comments on Haze’s WIP page and Pugsys cheat forum:

I am using the Elecom JC-PS101 adapters that I got a while ago for PS3 Tekken and they work perfectly with both regular PS2 pads and my HRAP2. No special config needed, just download drivers, map buttons and play.

I found a VERY useful program that can make that nasty converter lag disappear.

Turns out, the default speed of USB devices in windows is clocked at 125hz, which translates to a 8ms delay no matter what adapter you’re using.

However, you can hack your USB drivers to change that rate to 500hz (2ms) or 1000hz (1ms). If you set it to 1000mhz, the timing for the CPS3 Emulator will feel the same as arcade.

I didn’t see the weird icon thing. I only got the kanji once in Gill’s stage every other time it was black. I also had S.Akuma freeze consistently for ~5 seconds in the middle of his super dp when it missed the opponent. Overall S.Akuma seems pretty underwhelming in 3s…

i have the nebula emulator and roms that came in a pack that i have been using. but i want to play these games via netplay. So i downloaded mame 32 plusplus. the mame emulator lists the games, but shows they do not work. am i missing some sort of cps3 driver you need for mame or is there another mame emulator that supports cps3. please someone help me.
