I wasn’t a fan of the Capcom character designs either. I would have liked to see a larger variety of characters too. I mean 90% of the Capcom cast was from SF2. I would have liked to see Arthur, Strider, Bionic Commando, etc… (wouldn’t Damnd from Final Fight been an awesome midboss?). For that matter we could have gotten a few more SNK guys in there too, I’m surprised Brocken from World Heroes didn’t make the cut, he’s a perfect matchup against Dhalsim! All in all I didn’t think the system was too bad, but it sure as hell could have used some refinement.
Yes don’t label NGBC SVC2…it does the game a disservice.
And muffin man.don’t say CVS2 has Hyperhop…short jump in CVS2 aint Hyperhopping…CVS2’s short jumping makes Hyperhopping actually look GOOD! It makes it look Omg…fAST!!
What could save SVC? Jesus juice and Holy water.
the only thing that could’ve saved svc is if snk let capcom make it
it pissed me off when i couldn’t do ryu’s srk.
This is why I dislike Playmore. They’re nothing like the old SNK. Compare MoTM on the NGP to SvC: Chaos.
if capcom made it, demitri would still have his ds sprite…
hey now that you mention it that game was tons of fun:wgrin:
that’s fine. as long as there is decent gameplay, i’ll let rehashed sprites slide
Violent Ken looks more like an idea stolen from MUGEN or something. Not original by ANY means.
Yeah…now that I think about it…even if they just simply remade Match of the Millenium for the Atomiswave and used NGBC’s engine I would be really happy with SvC2.
The only thing that would have saved SVC is if they didn?t have to restart/pick back up the game multiple times. When they were working on it they went bankrupt. Then they were bought out and the game was started then stopped again. Then when they picked it back up again SNK needed some cash fast and put the remaining game out as fast as possible. If they had been allowed to continually work on it and not have so many different sets of developers working on it then the game might have been good. But as it stands it?s a Frankenstein mess. Hopefully Capcom and SNK will get back together for a CVS3 or SVC2 but I doubt it.
I?m just impressed the NeoGeo was able to display and animate Hugo?s sprite so well.
boring cast (if your gonna have that few characters at least include some original ones, i mean tabassa and hugo were a step in the right direction but as someone said most of capcom = sf2)
absolutely disgraceful animation, my god… anyone see vega? also some of the frames looked like they were ripped off alpha 3 and changed or something. all the capcom characters looked beefed up compared to the snk rehashed sprites.
sound and backgrounds were total shite.
it had some nice ideas, like the pre match talk, giving capcom characters much needed new moves or whatever…
but yeah, as someone said an arcade version of MotM would have been dope IMO, even if it was chibi characters.
controls were absolute bollocks,
That would be sweet. Capcom redrawn SNK sprites and SNK redrawn Capcom sprites rehashed into one game.
Bison mind-controlled Ken - based on the Street Fighter movie. So wikipedia says.
I haven’t played SVC, and perhaps I shouldn’t ~
Violent Ken isn’t that hard of a concept is it?
ken+ Evil Ryu.
Angry + Ken = Violent Ken
The game needed a few fixes;
- hit boxes
- guard cancel abusable BS
- unplayable boss characters/balanced boss characters
I actually liked how they did some of the Capcom characters over with a few new moves and combos (loved Demitri’s new sprite), but the sound effects were terrible at best, you should have been able to roll or something, more characters would have been nice, but then again who knows how many characters could fit in the cart.
Two grooves would have been enough, if they would have went that route.
I’ve never played the arcade/NeoGeo versions but the controls on the PS2/Xbox versions are horrible.
Playing the arcade/NeoGeo version would definitely be the best choice but not everybody is willing to spend $200+ on a single game and/or download illegal copies of a game.
What really turned me off was the fact that weaker characters did damage just as much as stronger characters.
i.e. Mai to Shin Gouki.
Did any of you actually like EXCEL idea?
EDIT:
BEDMAS TIME:
Violent Ken = (SNKP + SF II :TAM watching Coffee)/Most of their good staff + no better ideas
Violent Ken = (Inspired Noobs)/Most of their good staff + no better ideas
Violent Ken = (Inspired Noobs) + no better ideas.
