I thought we already knew Capcom’s aesthetics were bad and all over the place, the CG video that’s pretty much the in-game engine with some effects/filters, the rushed art, Playdough hair styles, clipping even in the character intros with a mix of the old big hand and feet cartoony almost Falcoon style mixed with a simple smooth UI, the music…
I don’t mind overdetailed things (like Necalli’s skin pores) since the overall lines and design of the character stay ‘cartoony’ and ‘sfish’. But yeah, if one character has skin pores or super detailed boots and the other hasn’t, independently of the artstyle, Capcom is just totally doing random stuff.
Art direction should be firmly consistent, not totally random.
This has probably already said but now that its confirmed what we are getting on release, I think the top part of the hud looks extremely bland and placeholder. Especially the healthbars, they have no visual style at all. Same with the character text, just generic bold in capital letters. I’d like to see something more detailed in the future.
As was previously mentioned, it’s just a modern, minimalist take on the 3S healthbars. Bringing everything down to the functional core elements (The white borders, the bar that goes from green to yellow) and dumping out all the skeumorphic that are now out of favor with modern design.
It seems they’re beginning to work on some clipping issues. FF to 1:14, Ken’s hair doesn’t clip all through his shoulder like crazy anymore, it lays on the shoulder properly. So, it’s a start in that department, thankfully.https://youtube.com/watch?v=EqNh8CdrkTQ
Please get rid of the pixelated self-shadowing that is causing a lot of weird artifacts on the character skins. It’s like a black squarish pixels crawling all over their body. It looks like crap on some stages, especially karin’s stage. Ryu looks like shit in that stage.
I think we need to compile a definitive list of all the cosmetic errors in this game and send it to Capcom. Some of these things are just fucking ridiculous.
Does it bother anyone how Bustling Side Street is the only stage out of all the stages with stage transitions and breakable walls? (Bus, resturant wall, noodles)?
I felt that the other stages should’ve added something by now. or are we gonna get that during future and upcoming updates?
How many times have people triggered the noodle box animation? Never. I can understand stage transitions, I actually like them, but please no stupid-looking stuff in this game. To think they praised that noodle box as if it were gonna be a big part of the game during the first few months of the game’s announcement…
