I bet Japan in ruins still has better internet than the USA. Tried to play ranked today on marvel again and it’s just lagtastic. Couldn’t even do any of my Dante combos.

I wish it was that simple that the Sentinel nerf would have cause this but the truth behind it is our fighting game scene is shit and I basically have to play in t-mode or laggy xbl to get a majority of my practice in. Some people talk about how they want to improve their game and level up that’s all it is, just talk. I’d like to have a good scene where people meet up and play at least a few times a week. I continually invite everyone on Thursday sometimes it is a good showing sometimes it’s not. I send out mass texts asking if anyone wants to play and usually no one replies. Might as well just take down the Corpus thread because there is no scene here. How many times do you guys actually get together to game other than when Jewel goes to Jesse’s place or when some people randomly go to Phelps’s. Yea people got real life and shit I understand that and have jobs, but if people want to bring the scene back to life they gotta put forth some effort to get together locally. Anyway I’m ranting, I don’t like how the scene is, I’d like for there to be something better, but the scene here for awhile now. This is where my anger comes from.

I forgot to mention Fonzo. Which to me is the person who tried to get the most practice in with marvel 3 while he was here.

I really don’t care what people play as long as people are grouping together as a community and trying to better themselves in the fighting game community. Almost every game has the same fundamentals and some games have other techniques that can be used in other games. So really by playing whatever someone wants to play even if it’s a dead game / flavor of the month / or whatever can be usefull. I’d prefer practicing some of the games tourneys are happening for but really right now I’d be happy to play anything as long as people are gathering a few times a week and trying to build up the scene.
Anyways, sorry if anyone found my rant offensive. I would like to see Corpus grow and level up more though so we can establish a better presence.

I don’t take any kind of offense to your rant. You speak truth but you always talk honestly and say whats on your mind so there is nothing new there.
I understand your anger and yeah I’ll admit I’m part of the problem. I haven’t really been putting that much time into fighting games as of late and I don’t really have an excuse for it. I like working at my own pace and I understand you’re trying to prepare for all these tournaments and you’re not getting the level or the consistency of competition you need to stay on top of your game. That sucks and I’m sorry.
Having said that, it’s pretty hard for me to make it out to your pad consistently. I don’t have a car I can use steadily or travel that far with and I’m slacking pretty hard when it comes to finding a job so I don’t have the money to travel with you guys when you’re going out of town to tournaments. That kind of stuff does effect my motivation to put the work in to really get to the level on the game I would like to be at but like I said previously it really is no excuse I should be playing a lot more than I have been.
However a scenes not one person so I’m wondering what other problems do we have down here? How do we fix this?
1.) Is there something wrong with the days people can get together and play?
Have peoples availabilities changed, should we try and work with a new day to have gatherings?
2.) Is there something wrong with the venue?
I understand Jerry’s house is a bit out of the ways but he’s the only one that’s really been putting his house out there as a consistent place for us to gather and play. I understand having gatherings at peoples houses is difficult, I’m grateful J and Jerry have always made their apartments/houses available for us to use but maybe if the venue is a problem we can look into some other places around town that are not peoples houses and are more centralized like Gamer’s Den or whatever that new Play Again spot is or even a fucking bar to have bi-monthly bar fights at.
3.Is The game selection a problem?
I understood people were getting bored with nothing but SSF4 but now that Marvel 3 is out and I’m wondering if people are not feeling the game. Is there another game people would like to go back to playing SSFIV or play Tekken, Darkstalkers, Guilty Gear, ST even CvS2… If you don’t like MvC3 just say you don’t like the game and lets make it a point to just throw some other games on during the gathering. I know you’ve been dying to play some GGXX: Reload Gage, DON’T YOU FUCKING LIE TO ME!
- Is it just real life issues and people are having trouble finding the time?
I’m probably the only person in this city with not a damn thing to do but play games but I understand that real life comes first and should always come first. If that is the case just handle your business but keep people updated. if the only time you have to play anything is one hour online then fine lets get that one hour online in LAG BE DAMNED.
Either way I’ll do my best to make more time for SSFIV and MvC3 and if people want to play other games I’ll at least throw some time in to learn them or reacquaint myself with the games so I can play on a competitive level.
yeah i know what your mean buddy, the only scene for marvel in the valley is harlingen which is fine by me since we LOOVVVEE the game here lol, and we usually have gatherings on friday cuz everyone else has school and im usually busy on the weekends, i play everyday but like you online aint doing it cuz of the lag factor which i really hope they fix, and fonzo, did he move already or what

As far as venue jesses room is cluttered with sex and electronics, it was nice going with phelps to jerry’s so that should happen more often…as far as leveling up we’ll never know unless we travel after putting in the time together… and it sucks that we rely solely on chris and jerry … (and phelps? LOL) but thats just the way it is … corpus has enormous potential @ mvc3 i’d like to see jesse THE BLOODEDGE go to his 1st mvc3 tournament and show gootecks a real taskmaster…
speaking of which who’s all going? I am trying to get phelps to go but hes so SHADDDDDDDDY 
… i know why jesse and fonso stopped playing ssf4 (ZZZZZZZZZ) but i liked (when they played) how phelps/jerry and cc was trying @ that game… I have so much knowledge about the game I would love to share…
