Corner Tackles

grahf: I will be there, so prepare to strike!

(but I won’t do flashy stuff, I will turtle as much as I can :stuck_out_tongue: :P)

Hol Horse: yupyup. I saw all of you from italy on the list… :karate:

holy shit… not another turtling Urien

I’ve had it with turtling uriens!111

Anyways… I’ve been waiting for this!

well, I don’t really like to turtle, but experience taught me that it’s better to turtle when you face an opponent you never played before :stuck_out_tongue:

still no french players on the list is bugging me though. Expecially since they don’t have to travel that much.

Yeah i know. I’ll think that they’ll come but just taking their time thinking through it all. I thought that they’d DEFINETLY come after seeing that italy would participate. Not that I know much about sf-italy but you guys are just crazy in tekken so i assume that you are the same in sf. And that should be enough reason for france to participate.

unluckily SF is far less popular than Tekken here, and the scene is small so as much as I would like it to be, I don’t think that our SF level is as high as our Tekken level
we may be good but we didn’t have much chances to try out.
Honestly I don’t really know how well we’ll be doing; on our first international experience (in Cannes, last winter) we did decently; this time we will come with more training and added experience, though from the last happenings it seems that Shirl (our best player) probably won’t be able to make it
he had some really close matches against Mymoza in Cannes, and he improved since then. Solid game, amazing reflexes and great “ume” skills. A rematch between them would be quite interesting, I still hope he can make it (I’d lend him money if I could)

You can do that to Q, it doesn’t work on anyone else, except possibly chun-li and necro

Interesting. I’ve had trouble doing it on the dreamcast, but juggle timing in general is a lot harder I find on it. Perhaps with an x-box / ps2 I’ll have better luck.

There is a certain visual indicators that I use to practice this:

  • c.fierce, rh. tackle, ex-tackle, etc.

I didn’t list the full combo, because first two tackles are the most troublesome ones for me, and once you have practiced it well, the other tackles seem to come relatively easier.

I usually practice with ryu as my opponent, there is no specifically reason behind this; other than that ryu seemed as a standard making it ideal to practice with.

in the corner, after you hit ryu with c.fierce, watch ryu’s animation closely. At the peak of his airtime, ryu’s legs quickly change angle. ryu will be lying in the air with his legs and feet slanting downwards, then they will quickly become parallel to the ground. This is the visual que that i use.

in order to have rh. tackle hit after c. fierce, you have to press :r: + :hk: when ryu’s legs are slanted downwards just before they become parallel. This animation happens very quickly that it just looks as if ryu twitches slightly. So it would be late to have executed the tackle after you see him move. So you have to predict when ryu will make this animation switch. As ryu ascends, execute the tackle when you think his legs will be slanting down before the ‘twitch.’

I hope this helps as it helped me. after landing occassional rh. tackle, mk. tackle’s timing seemed relatively easy. You could execute the mk. tackle when you see him twitch.

the second tackle, ex-tackle, still gives me trouble. but i want to see if someone else can find a bit of help from another visual que i have.

when done early, i think rh. tackle hits ryu little below his navel, and mk. tackle hits little above his knees. (if i’m mistaken, please correct them)

this indicates there is enough time for charge of the next tackle.

I usually look for the visual sign that urien is fully recovered from the previous tackle. i think this gives sufficient time for the charge and favorable position of the ryu.

if holding back, let urien take a step or two as he recovers from the first tackle. if holding down-back, let urien crouch as he recovers from the first tackle. usually i have good amount of successful hit of ex-tackle if i execute them after these signs.

dont rush on the EX tackle. It’s super easy, really. Since the EX tackle comes out very fast, just make sure you are completely charged and let it out. Sometimes it looks like it will completely whiff in the corner, but it doesnt and it hits them. Go try it out in training mode. It’s really easy.
