Copy THIS! The Taskmaster thread!

was experimenting with amaterasu’s vale of mist and it makes the infintes i created possible without xfactor and makes his shield skills arrow infinte possible with ONLY xfactor 1 (if i remember correctly u need xfactor 3 to do it) hopes this helps task and ammy players

Anyone else sad about Tasky’s Up Arrows having there range nerfed? I feel like the vast majority of my uses for it with him on point and as an assist just got demolished…

I think it’s a nerf and a buff. They will be much better defensively up close so if you connect them while being wailed on, you get a free combo which essentially means the other guy dies.

Fair enough, I get what you’re saying

I mainly use it to discourage people from super-jumping, to make Doom’s reset from the Buktooth loop inescapable, for zoning and it makes a surprising sneak attack after a back throw with Task so I guess that’s why I feel like it’s more of a nerf. How do other people use it?

Here’s my new video. Dunno if you’ll find anything new, but feedback is always nice:

Two things

  1. I’ve never felt like less of a horrible fighting game player in terms of combos until viewing that

  2. Yes, I got ideas from it

Thanks for sharing! That’s one dope video!

The level of godlike is out of this world, i was mostly interested in taskmaster since he’s my main but everythings was sick(tho im sick of seeing spencer in EVERY team combo vid) i still loved the vid tho

Can you guys give me some taskmaster mixup without any assist? Sometime i dont know what to do they just block everything i try to do so my only option is Throw and jump super down arrow.

What you guys doing against those character like Trish who fly every where and spam fireball? Without dr.doom hidden missile. This is really a hard matchup for me. She fly everywhere spam fireball and divekick combo me. What the best against the divekick (wolverine , trish).

What the best against people who just spam crouch.A ? Like morrigan, wolverine, ryu. What his best AA against crossup? Like people who like to jump crossup with ryu.

Thanks

I’m messing around with Task, and I was wondering how important is Sword Master, and how important is it to have all the extensions memorized? It’s a newb questions, but I’m brand new to the character.

SwordMaster can be useful given the right situation but in general it isnt a very good move. I wouldnt consider it a very important part of his game. It’s good to sneak in every once in a while though

You can setup unblockables into full combos with sword master with the right assist. It’s not super useful, but it’s something to keep in mind and use once in a blue moon.

So, How has Taskmaster been nerfed? All I know is the new move, Sheild Skills goes farther(?), and the Up Arrow distance nerf. Anything like… meter gain on block? Or chip damage? I pretty much abused the meter gain on block, and coupled with Drones, I would a get a chunk of meter for one fully charged Arrow, plus a Drone.
Also, I kinda made a mixup with Task/Jean. I don’t know if this has been found out yet, but after a combo, I do OTG arrows while Jean does her fire ball asist. Then, I smack them with an L, and Jump into MM delay H, land Standing M, Sheild Skills, blah. Second option: Jump and air throw. Third option: dash under and Sheld Skills, blah. Fourth option(if you have a multiple hitting assist) : Sheild Skills, call assist, Sword Master, followup, Leigon Arrow, XF, Air LH Leigon Arrow. This is all after the Standing L. If this helps anyone, then you are welcome

I heard he received a pretty significant damage nerf. I guess this will force people to actually learn his proper combos instead of pulling a Nerd Josh.

Also, buffing the range on shield skills is a moronic change. He can already make it go across 3/4 of the screen.

Ok, so a damage nerf, Up Arrow nerf, and Sheild Skills goes farther.
I think I heard somewhere that its harder to follow up after his OTG arrow special. Can someone confirm this?
If this is true, then he won’t be able to do those long ass combos anymore, and I love his combos. So far, I see no reason to drop him from MvC3 to UMvC3, besides his damage output being lowered.

^People have been saying the OTG windows for everything has been tightened (wesker gun shot etc) but I still see average/random players doing their bnbs as usual. Maybe you wont be able to self relaunch after OTG air H arrows but you’ll still probably be able to assist launch.

The Up arrow nerf is kind of a buff as it will rain down on people who have moves to get past that blind spot that arrows have. As far as zoning goes though, its a nerf.

Shield skills range increase is ridiculous. It will probably get more burn as an anti projectile tool now, instead of just an anti air/whiff punish.

I still say it’s completely unnecessary. Shield skills already goes FAAAAAR if you dash first, the momentum carries over.

Task is so plain already, why make one of his few quirky techniques irrelevant?

his damage was nerfed via them nerfing his combos, I could only get his basic bnb to work, after multiple tries. Other than that theres nothing significantly different, besides his air normals hitstun properties. I didn’t notice a damage nerf, arrows/super seem to be the same, except diag super in the air doesn’t send them flying to the other side, instead it kinda glides them halfway then the super is over. So, theres that and I could otg with arrows fine.

you can’t solo otg into shield skill launch without an assist

I’d rather they just nerf his overall damage, but leave his combos alone. That way people would actually have to learn how to play him.

messing around with taskmaster and found a use for his unblockable against phoenix. Not practical so far but I think it’s something to test out a bit more with certain team setups.

The way it works is to make sure task doesn’t hit phoenix with any of his arrows during the THC by XFCing it asap so you can also move about freely and setup the unblockable while phoenix is still push blocking and since it would be your first real hit against her, she won’t be able to push you back at all.

With UMvC3 on the horizon this could still be somewhat useful in baiting your opponent to blow an air XF1 and shut down their options. These THC combinations were just quick examples since I’m sure using screen filling ones will be much more appealing.

The first setup is… Not even real. Consider their ability to double jump on entry.
Second is pretty legit, though. Though it requires four meter and x-factor.
