It’s extremely tight timing that you have to practice. Someone mentioned this before, but when you see task’s knee start to come toward his body that’s when he starts to descend, so try and time it around the time he starts to descend
Pretty sure I’m going to be picking up Taskmaster soon, I just had a some questions about him. Don’t expect one person to answer them all, but would be really helpful even if you could just answer one or two.
What **intermediate **bread and butter combo that does not require assists are you using? What would you say the best one is, and how much damage are you getting from it?
Does Task have a combo that that always brings the opponent to the corner, or do you guys use a combo that is dramatically different from his midscreen bnb when in the corner? It would be nice to have a corner to corner bnb.
Which assist is generally seen as the best, how are his assists used?
Assist wise is there anything synergy wise he could do to help out Skrull, Mags, or Tron (or they could do to help him). I’m wondering more about combo extending DHC combos and less DHC glitch stuff.
What are some safe/strong ways to approach with Taskmaster?
These are just my opinions. I do combos I can land all the time. Which means I take the best ones and simplify them a bit.
Edit: gah misrenembered. Sorry. CrL crM back+H S (jump) L M forward+H H S jump immediately legion arrows LH version. 500k+ damage puts them in the corner.
Basically. After any combo that ends in S if it sends them away from you jump and legion LH if they’re on the corner jump aim master H for three then legion MH.
Any forward throw = free legion MH any air throw is free Aim H xx legion MH.
If they’re not in the corner by then a I call chris gun fire and I get a pair of aim master Ls off to shove them in the corner.
For Task assist. it depends on your team. But I’m finding Vertical arrows to be good for someone to close in, and It can stuff super jumps while they are mid-long to long range. Closer then that and you risk Taskmaster getting smacked.
I play defensive with Task using Haggar’s assist mixing up arrows be it grounded or in the air and shield master. With Haggar lariat. Lariat lands, it’s combo time or you can super for free to keep them away. Taskmaster has versatility he doesn’t have to come after most people.
I’m not good with mags… Tron’s gustaff is nice but I think haggar’s gives more time for combo IMO. No clue about Skrull.
One thing Taskmaster has done well for me too is protect Haggar. On a bad lariat I have had success dhcing to LM legion arrows which has been safe pretty much everytime I’ve done it.
I use the same combo all the time, the BnB that does 724k. I do change a j.H for a j.S in the corner on most characters, and the specific timing does change depending on exact spacing/hitbox. Needless to say, I suck online
If the character has 800k life I’ll extend the combo with OTG into haggar’s Lariat back into launcher (845k)
If he has 850-900k I’ll add a DHC.
But since I’ve been chipping at them before that, you usually don’t need that.
I also use Haggar’s Lariat as an assist, and most rushdown characters are a walk in the park. Teleports are also negated.
Now I’m trying to find a good 3rd character vs zoning teams. So far I’ve been unable to find one that makes these matches fun/bearable.
As for Taskmaster’s Assist, I use horizontal if I plan to zone, vertical to rush. My default is horizontal.
Thanks guys, very helpful. Also was wondering, other than following with hypers, is there anything you can do to follow up a grab, air grab or corner grab? I’m sure there is, just haven’t realized it yet.
Also whats that 724 bnb?
I’m working with this bnb that does a measly 620k. Can’t figure out the trick to that damn arrow lift, even when I get the charged arrows to hit, no matter how fast I input shield skill it doesn’t connect, what’s the secret, is there a delay, please be very specific. I feel like such a dumb ass, I’ve literally tried to get the corner relaunch to work maybe 80 times or so, and not once have I gotten pasted the arrows hitting OTG.
After a grab if you don’t want to run after them or don’t have meter just toss vert arrows aim master H to force them to block a aim master L. I do that with Chris’ gunfire to pack on more chip. Should work with other projectile assists as well.
Try the relaunch with one arrow?
724k is the usual BnB… swing, MM, swing, MMS, shield charge, S, sj.MH swing, MH S, land, jump, j.H arrow, legion.
800k+ is when you replace the end with Assist, j.H arrow, land, (H), shield charge, S, sj.S, j.H arrows, legion.
Different hitboxes make for different timings, and you might want to replace the first MMS by MMH midscreen.
I never do the relaunch arrow.
I don’t think there’s anything better than legion after a throw. If you grab really high, you can probably arrow relaunch, but I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.
One thing I’ve found for air grabs is that you can shoot Aim Master :h: (number of arrows depending on height) to pop them up, then hit them with :l: Legion Arrows, then, if you want, you can DHC into another hyper that can hit full screen, like Dante’s Million Dollars. For forward ground throws, you can also hit them with a single TK Aim Master :h: before Legion Arrows if you do it fast enough, but it probably isn’t worth the effort, since it’s about 19k more damage.
after airthrow, depending on height you can do charged Aim Master :h: into double arrow lift for about 633k
One thing that I never noticed before, if you do air Aim Master :l: and shoot exactly 2 arrows, Taskmaster doesn’t do his normal hop up thing while he fires, so you can get a wider spread on the arrows than if you shot three, plus you’ll reach the ground faster to fire again.
After air grab - :qcf::h:(hold) for more than one arrow to hit, then immediately :qcf::l:+:h:, DHC watever u want. I Run Shulk and her emerald cannon hits even Spidey maximum spider hits, that or u can be fancy and try stuff like c.:l:,c. etc which wont be consistent bec of height etc.
For any of you offensive tasky’s watch dacidbro do work, he has the best task in cali atm. There should be videos from hadocon up soon
Agreed w/ Honzo. In fact it’s ironic HonzoGonzo posted that because his team and Dacid’s teams are the two teams I’ve been maining for weeks now (Dacid’s more recently). So I’ve learned everything I know about Task by watching Honzo and Dacid. So yes, watch Dacid’s to learn more about task, and watch honzo too. Dacid’s rushdown better, and Honzo’s zoning is better (though I think that’s less about skill and more about Dacid using Tron and Honzo using Doom missiles). They’re perfect educational combination platter lol
Honzo, I think you have the best defensive Taskmaster and Dacidbro has the best offensive Taskmaster, though my Task isn’t free either and has come back against both you guys as often as not. Assuming you kill Viper and make my team sad D:
Though the best part of the entire tourney IMO was you versus Dacidbro: “This is how you do a combo!” Combo drops and thus does less damage than yours. XD
I was trying to avoid putting dacid on blast for his mistakes , but nonetheless he’s still a great player.
Also, chrisis your viper is the best char on your team by far, so it just overshadows the other two.
Well Viper’s the second best character in the game, but Taskmaster is by far the character that works the best with everyone in the game, his DHCs and assists are useful for every style of play. I’d love to just get some straight up Task mirrors with you since although my Viper often keeps Task from coming in I do play him when he is in, let’s get some matches sometimes soon!
Also if we put Dacidbro on blast he’s already godlike and doesn’t need anyone to tell him that. I also agree with him, there’s no reason outside of weird specific DHCs that you want to end with air C forward arrows instead of knock down pick up with down arrows then either angled arrows for some DHCs, or relaunch into down arrows super as it’s far more damaging and meter building.
Yo I’m not even upset that I lost our match Honzo. (I may or may not be lieing!)
You have a phenomenal understanding of the neutral game, and you would be absolutely terrifying if you were getting the right payout every time you land a hit with Taskmaster. As is, even without combos, you’re already a top player. That’s pretty ridiculous. Was a pleasure playing you, I’ll have to body you next time though :]
Oh, and I definitely don’t have any excuse. I’m completely confident my team’s composition is more powerful than his. Just got outplayed.
there is a reason I do the forward arrow super, butttttttttt I’m reluctant to say why
and yes I agree, if i could combo I would do a lot better, but school and work have gotten in the way of my playtime for the past 3 weeks, so I’ve only been playing at starbase and ramnation

What reason do you have to at least not relaunch first into angle super? I can understand that down super doesn’t DHC well with your team, but angled is perfect for bringing in Ammy. Despite our teams playing completely differently 2/3 of the characters are exactly the same.
Do you want them to roll faster 'cause forward doesn’t give the hard knockdown angled does?
