It’s not like it even does worthwhile damage! There’s very few times when it’s your best option; it’s such a bad super.
woah now, if you think his counter super is bad, you’re not using it right. It is quite frankly the greatest thing to DHC into after a wiffed/about to be stuffed super. Its an amazing anti-cap’n 'merica / haggar
but its complete ass against projectile spammers
Perhaps not bad but generally subpar. I want Taskmaster to be a battery, and that super just feels like a waste compared to what I could be doing with other characters with the same meter, y’know?
I feel you, Task is always in my #2 slot, thats the only time the super gets use (outside of random super spammers, and sometimes right after I XFC. Its OK against rushdown characters too, if you can read em well that is, sucks u cant DHC after tho
Hey everyone, long time lurker first time poster. I am obsessed with Taskmaster in this game, I think he is a unique mix of both rushdown and keepaway options. Anyway here is the point of this post.
While messing around in training I came upon an instant overhead.
3M hits as an instant overhead and after that you can do j.M j.H 4H S M M H Swing M M S land, jump qcf H xx qcf M+H
Obviously there may be better followups for this but the M and H after 3M totally hit and I was pretty amazed. What do y’all think?
3M in the air? or otg? Work on whole cast or just tall Mofos
… 3M? As in, :df: 3M? I’m not at my console right now, but I’m almost certain that’s not a move. At least not one distinct from :d:
, which is definitely not an overhead.
3M is not a move that I know of. I think he means 9M. If so, 9M isn’t an instant overhead, because it whiffs on crouching characters. Overheads is the biggest weak-point in Tasky’s game.
It’s not my fault if you can’t read my message correctly. I said frame 1 invuln counter super, where’s the lie? It is instantly invulnerable. It being 5 frames start up pre flash actually makes it stronger, as there is greater lee way for your opponent to fuck up.
Also, for everyone saying it is a bad super, you have no idea how stupid powerful it is. It’s so powerful you’re almost never going to use it. If you understand what I’m saying, you’re probably pretty good at the game. For everyone else, picture this; You are captain america, or any character with a melee normal/special/super that goes through projectiles. You want to hit Taskmaster in the face for shooting arrows at you, but unlike nearly literally every other zoner in the game, even with a perfect read you CANT. He will reaction counter super you (Even if he’s committed to arrows LOL) every time, now you took decent damage and you’re full screen again.
Holy shit, you guys are COMPLAINING about this super not being good enough?
What’s up Dacidbro? I should find my way down to cali sometime, I really should~
But nah, I really screwed up saying it was bad, I didn’t mean that. It is definitely super useful. Just, whenever I actually do have to use it, I’m always like, “Man, why’d you have to do that? I’d rather have spent that meter on something else. BUT I GUESS YOU’RE DUMB, SIGH.” Sometimes it feels like an elaborate plot by my opponent to deprive me of precious meter. But then, it always feels like a waste to spend meter on something that isn’t Bionic Lancer, haha.
Yea sorry my notation was wrong, I meant 9M sorry. I am also dumb for calling it an overhead, but never the less I find it fascinating that the followup H and S work, even on block.
I thought that might be you, Stark. What’s up. :wonder:
Seems like we’re playing the same character, this time around. Much fun in the drawing room to be had
I don’t think I’ve seen this mentioned, but you can combo air diagonal Legion Arrows after doing Aegis Counter and most of them will hit, then you can DHC into someone with a fast full-screen super like Million Dollar, Shinku Hadoken, Hail Storm, Messatsu-Gohado Ungyo, or Gravity Squeeze, plus you can DHC or X-Factor more from there. Doing Aegis Counter, Legion Arrows, Million Dollar, Level 1 X-Factor, Million Dollar, diagonal Legion Arrow does 981,600 to Viewtiful Joe and 1,069,100 to Sentinel.
That’s good to know. Are most dive kicks this way?
I played some more against him with more success. It seems like playing the zoning game is best for this matchup.
My problem now is that I’m still terrible at this game
I either try to combo everything into everything, but then I play on auto-pilot, or just play the smart game without any combo. My execution takes too much of my focus to see the openings, etc. It’s frustrating, but I guess new game + pad to stick switch does that to a man.
And finally, great find about the followup to counter. But are you certain about diagonal Legion arrows cancelling into Million Dollar? Downward Legion arrows only connects when you cancel it in the first 10ish hits, and I assumed it’d be the same for the angled version. Skrull and Magneto’s lvl 3, sure, but “normal” hypers near the end of the move?

Aiming for 700K solo combo. Still trying. Cool combos are coming out of it though.
Not 100% on this, but I think the only normal overhead “dive” moves are She-Hulk’s and Super Skrull’s.
OK, Million Dollar was probably a bad example, because it only connects sometimes. Every time a Legion Arrow hits, it pulls the opponent up off the ground slightly. Because you are so far away, not all the arrows hit, so they’ll be popped up for a few frames every time they get hit. If the follow up doesn’t hit them during that small window, then it won’t link. Since the arrows shoot randomly, sometimes it will be possible to link, sometimes it won’t.
EDIT: Oh, and j. :s:, , :h:, Swing, j.

Taskmasters counter super is fine for me. I just use it in places people preditably attack with slow moves like Zero’s j.C and Sentinel’s air stomp, the ones you can see coming but usually just can’t beat. If you get good at hitting them with the air diagonal arrows afterwards it definitely makes it worth it.
The counter hypers are certainly more effective in this game compared to SSIV, that’s for sure.
good shit shinobi, I never thought of usin arrows mid combo like that. hmm
