Copy THIS! The Taskmaster thread!

Taskmaster is such a copy cat. He stole Hawkeye’s hawk shots. Hawkeye’s super, Captain America’s Charging Star and Stars ‘n’ Stripes, and Spider-man’s web swing.

Hooooo boy, got another analysis up, this time I take a look at ol’ Tasky here - MVC3 Character Analysis: Taskmaster | I Speak Comics - Goes over his normals, specials, and hypers. Taskmaster actually has a lot more depth than revealed at first glance. Good stuff.

Pretty good write-up, although I don’t particularly agree with “I really like his intro music. Foreboding.” at all. That’s one reason why his theme doesn’t really fit.

I guess if you look at Taskmaster in the comics and his personality in-game you’re right, it doesn’t quite fit. However, when he rears that ugly skull masked-face to the camera… I don’t know, I dig it.

It does fit him though. It does fit his cockyness. Either way it’s a great theme.

Hah! I loved that scene from the mini.

Here’s a cool combo:

A, B, C, F+C (web swing), B, B (both in the air), A, B, C, E (launch), B, B, C, E (slam), j.hard bow (otg) + air hyper bow

Also, his shield smash is B+C… very promising character.

@zellorz

Is that a theory combo? Sounds fucking pimp but do the air arrows otg into hyper like Akuma’s fireballs? If so awesome!

I doubt it’s a theory combo. Zellorz is part of the Spanish media and has access to a review copy of MvC3. He can correct me if I’m wrong though hehehe.

Interesting. Remember the commands for all his other moves? Would be greatly appreciated.

Ooh, this. Also this.

That’s the move he took from Captain America right? The charging star move? Do you mean Back+C or the attack button B and C? I’m guessing Back+C but just making sure.

Do you know what his assists are?

I would like to see how many hits Taskmasters wikipedia page got when he got announced.

haha i also had no clue who he is, d3v told me in the general thread.

but well, he still looks awesome :stuck_out_tongue:

His theme is completely heroic sounding. I’m not sure what the rest of you are listening to, but it’s the kind of music you hear when you see someone out to rescue someone else, or during some epic fight between good vs evil (and it’s always the theme of the “good guy” being played). It’s an awesome theme for sure, but in no way does it fit him at all. Regardless, it’s not forboding.

And yes, please find out what his assists are. Not going to be suprised if they are just a Charging Star and a horizontal and aerial arrow though.

It’s not gonna happen, but a character like him would be so fun to give a few assist that call back to MvC2… especially characters we’re most likely NOT getting any other way…

“Cyke’s Gene Splice!” (ends with an upwards gunshot)
“Juggernaut’s Punch!”
“Captain’s Corridor!”

As far as his theme goes, I think it’s Heroic to the point of parody, kinda like Prince Charming in the Shrek movies. Of course it sounds worthy of a champion (Or pirate captain!)… but then you look at who it’s attached to, and you get the idea the person is showboating, or just full of themselves…

Already covered by two characters. Also not sure why he would have Juggernaut’s punch. Taskmaster isn’t a train and he also doesn’t copy super powers.

Dante’s is close, but is more of a juggle than a blowback, right? And I’ve heard Dormammu’s is pretty slow.
Jug’s lunging forward and punching doesn’t HAVE to have super power to copy the movement, just maybe the utter effectivness. It’s not like he has to copy Spiderman’s web shooting ability to swing like him… or that he has the proportionate strength of a spider.

Was just picking assist which could easily be replicated through tech or motion mimicry. I know powers are out of the limits for him. :wonder:

It was something like this: QCF is the bow attack (if hold, shoots three arrows), QCB is the counter move and a SRK motion does the overhead (doesnt look comboable at all). Command normals are charging shield (back+C) and web swing (forward+C).

Im not really sure about the assists, but I’d say horizontal and tilt-up bow shot, and the overhead.

Ugh, so many command normals really irk me (it’s especially bad when dashing). That’s also a symptom of going to a three button layout. It’s about as bad as the shorcuts in SF4.

Yeah, there’s a problem with so many command normals: while doing ground series, if you want to link -for example- cr.C into back+C, sometimes Task cancels the cr.C into the shield counter special. You gotta be precise in timing and try to avoid DF diagonal.

I also dislike command normals on normals I wanna run in with; this bothered me much in Blazblue, but I never had a problem with it in KoF. Pretty suprised his swing is a command normal, that’s pretty elaborate for such a simple move. I like command normals in general, though, that actually might, overall, pull me to playing him more often, depending on how it all flows.

So the overhead is a command more… so it has 2 different variations then, eh? Hope each variety is useful.

Thanks for the info.
