Converter Compatibility Thread

It depends on the color of your PCB inside your stick but more importantly what voltage it is using. Go here to this thread for more info – the last few pages should provide the info. that you need:

Kyle, on your OP you might want to update some of the PS2 to PS3 adapters that work or does not work with the specific SFAC. This list can be abit confusing if one has not read through the other SFAC threads.

i.e. – this TAC adapter does not specify which SFAC it works for, or does it imply that it works for all SFAC voltage PCB’s?
TAC (Incompatible with 2.7): These were reported to work well with SFAC and HRAP series. MarkMan and others reported that it has issues so I would avoid it in favor of something else. Hold Analog for Home.
Compatible with: PS2 DS, SFAC, HRAP 1, HRAP 2/SA
Incompatible with: PS1 Digital

I definitely agree. When I compiled this list there wasn’t any solid information about the differences between the PCBs. I’ll revise this as best I can when I have a chance.

Hey guys, just wanted to report that I bought this adapter - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.6834

I tried it in SF4 with Namco arcade stick, works flawlessly :looney:

Hey, guys. Have any of you had any experience with this adapter?

It’s similar to the one posted in the OP, but this one is the “V2”, which claims to work with the PS3 and enable rumble on PS1 and PS2 controllers. It also claims that you can use a PS1/2 steering wheel and play Gran Turismo 5 Prologue with it.

Also, would you happen to know if it’s 2.70 compatible?

Does anyone know with what PS1 digital pads the inPin has problems exactly?

i think its all of them, its expecting a pad with analog i believe.

I’m still confused with the SFAC converters.
I know that there are 3 different PCBs. 2 Green, 1 Yellow.
Their volts are 8, 7.5, and 3.5.

The pic that has been floating around the threads here: http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/4239/sfacpcb.jpg

As you have already mentioned, 8V works with http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260352534724

Yellow PCBs are the 7.5V right? which means that they will work with InPin converters?

But what about the 3.5V SFAC sticks. Have we found a converter for them?

Thanks. That one is referred to as the HAIS in the post FYI.

That one is the Dragonplus. It was fairly popular back in the day but it also did receive a few mixed reviews. I’ve repeatedly asked if it was 2.7 compatible and no one has chimed in with an answer.

Apparently it’s hit and miss. Laugh said that it doesn’t fail with all of them.

Yeah, the yellow are 7.5 and apparently work with the InPin. Your best bet for the 3.5 is this thread. I bumped it with your question.

mmmmm yellow are 3.5V i believe and are compatible with most converters

So does that mean that I won’t be able to use an inpin with my namco psx stick?

It will work. Check the OP.

InPin (2.7 Compatible)
Compatible with: Sony PS2, PS1 DS, MAS, HRAP Series,** Namco PS1**, SFAC w/Yellow PCB

Yellow can be 3.5 as well? I need to check mine when I get home. :looney:

We need to put together a definitely list on these. I’ll update with whatever I have later today.

(1) MAS Super Pro Stick for IBM/PC
(2) Wish to convert PC-> PS2, DC,PS3
(3) http://www.massystems.com/IBM-PC.html
(4) Haven’t tested. Issue of compatibility.

This stick was lying around collecting dust b/c in the past i bought it for my ps2 but it turned out it wasn’t compatible. I even bought a ps2/pc adapter to it but that did nothing.

The stick still feels good. Never used it. Shame to never use it as all my fighters are on consoles.

It has no USB outlets, instead it has a 5-6 pin DIN outlet that you’d normally see on like a keyboard.

Is there a converter I could buy to allow me to play on the ps2 and DC?

Thanks

^ You will want to try something like this for the PlayStation 2. The Innovation Dreamcast converter also has a keyboard slot. I can’t guarantee that either of these will be compatible, but that’s your best shot for the stick’s current configuration. If these don’t work then I’d recommend buying a pre-hacked PlayStation 2 controller in the Trading Outlet section of the forum and replacing the guts of your stick.

Just got this e-mail from play-asia. Seems they got a new PS to GC/Wii adapter up for sale.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-49-en-70-3cep.html

It’s made by EMS instead of Mayflash, but I guess they’re essentially the same, I have the mayflash cube joybox pro and they’re the same price. Anybody know or have any ideals as to a significant difference?

Some additional info:

HVG2:
-works for sfac 3.5v, sfac 7.5v, ps1 analog pcb
-does not work with sfac pad controller

Cablesforpc:
-works with sfac 3.5v, ps1 analog pcb, sfac pad controller
-Accepts two joysticks!!!
-does not work for sfac 7.5v

^ I added this and edited the converters I owned to reflect 3.5V. The more info you guys give me the better the OP will be. I only have one SFAC stick versus that guy that has a ton of them.

Thanks for the link.

I checked out the Mayflash site and there’s no way to check out. Which forces me to find a vendor who supplies this adapter.

I found a few vendors but not many. There aren’t many that supply the Max Shooter for the ps2. The few vendors that do have it for ps2, their prices are skyrocketed, due to it’s rarity most likely.

I also looked into the newer Max Shooter for ps3/360. It supports PC accessories so more then likely it should accept my MAS stick. Though its pricey and if there’s a cheaper route I’d rather do that.

Also I was reading your FAQ on the beginning of this thread, so it is possible to use my MAS stick on my ps3, all I would need is an adapter with a USB outlet? Simple plug’n’play?

thanks

Just got my Hais adapter today. Bought it April 9. Works as advertised, no noticeable lag. I’m using it with a PS1 PCB using the solderless hack. Plastic seems a bit thin and cheap, but it looks nice. I wouldn’t want to step on it by accident!

I’m going to guess no on this one. It will probably recognize it as a keyboard rather than a USB joystick. Here’s a thread about connecting a HotRod to the PS3, which is another PS2/keyboard based stick. They used a SmartJoy Frag for this. Check out that thread and see if it helps.

I updated the OP with as much SFAC info as I could find in the other thread. Keep the submissions coming on that and I’ll add them when I see them.

Hais (2.7 Compatible): These reportedly work well and include a PS2 memory card reader. Press Analog or Up+Select for XMB. Hold Up+Select for Home.
Compatible with: PS2 DS, PS1 Digital, SFAC, Saturn PS2 pad, Namco PS1, Tekken 5
Incompatible with: SFAC 8V
Reviews: Canto

This also works with:

PS1 Dualshock
SFAC pad
ASCII Pad FT2 (terrible controller though)
