Converter Compatibility Thread

Got the Mayflash adapter, played with it a bit - not really able to do extensive testing yet. Only used it for PS controllers on an Xbox360 so far.

For the authentication part, I’m fairly certain any wired Xbox360 controller will work. I used both a MadCatz Brawlpad as well as my Qanba Q4, switched to Xbox360 mode, and both let the converter sync. Note that once you use the pad to sync the converter, you can unplug the pad, but you can NOT use the same pad on the Xbox at the same time, it will not be assigned to the next slot.

PSX support was spotty for some reason. With an old digital PS1 pad, there were no issues, but with my PSone Dualshock, Guide would get triggered randomly.
Dualshock 2 worked great with no issues
Dualshock 3 worked great with no issues (!)

No discernable lag, but I didn’t really test extensively. Testing involved playing Soul Calibur 5 for a few hours.

Interesting side effect: when you’re using a PS2 or PSX pad with the converter, both the controller you used to sync and the PS2 pad will have full functionality at the same time. I used this to temporarily try out how a FrankenPad would feel, lol (D-Pad + Arcade buttons).

Tried my Qanba Q4 on ps3 mode - didn’t work at all. By extension, eightarcs would probably not work either.

Haven’t tested any Madcatz sticks yet, sorry =P.

Do anyone know what’s a good PS2 to PS3 converter as well as a PS2 to 360 converter with no lag? If it can be used on PC as well than that’s an extra bonus. Reason why is because the PS2 to PS3 converters on the Etokki website is sold out and I need some converters.

I use ps2/ps3 ones on amazon, they’re alright if youre not going to keep switching sticks on systems. Basically anything for 360 from Etokki is good.

Maybe check the trading outlet and see if anyone has an inPin (eTokki’s PS2 to PS3 converter) or Pelican PS2 to PS3 converter for sale.

Just ordered it last night. It says 15 to 25 days shipping though, so its a pretty long wait. Cant wait to get it in. Cant believe it was only $15 for an adapter that you can use a ps2/3 controller on 360 and vice versa, compared to the XCM adapter that only does one of the 2 (depending on which one you buy) and it costs $75 to $100, and supposedly has some lag according to this thread. One cool feature that the XCM has over the mayflash is the ability to remap any button. But for $15 I couldn’t pass it up, especially when 3 or 4 of you said it works great with no lag.

My Mayflash adapter is coming in tomorrow. I’ll provide my impressions.

While at the capcom and I saw vangief using the new Mayflash universal. As I had not looked here I was not aware that what it was so I asked him. No lag with pdp afterglow pad.

Going which direction PS3 to 360 or vice versa?

360 to PS3 it was.

Initial Mayflash Universal Converter impressions:

After trying every combination (360 to PS3, PS3 to 360, PS2 to both), there was no lag at all.

Madcatz TE sticks got no response whatsoever, however my Hori stick seemed to work fine.

My initial Mayflash Universal Converter impressions:

No lag.
Rumble works perfect.

When I played Tony hawks project 8 on xbox with a ps2 controller is was going bonkers. It was grinding for no reason and the buttons weren’t responding flip tricks. I dont know why its happening, but it doesnt bother me since the PS3 is fine when playing. Also the Rumble only works on ps3 and 360 controllers, not PS2.

Great product for $15. Just wish you could swap bumpers with triggers when playing ps3 games with 360 controller or have button remapping like the XCM adapter has, but that asking a lot for a $15 dollar adapter compared to XCMs $75+ price.

PS…why Uncharted 3 still has the R1/L1 as the firing buttons boggles my mind. Why make triggers for the DS3, if you can’t even shoot with them on half the games on PS3??

input lag tester link on first page is broken, can someone bring up a mirror?

Haven’t seen this before. Thought some of the more experienced dual modding folk might be interested in at least checking out the tech.

It says lag free, but I won’t believe it till I see it.

Edit: watched another of their youtube videos. Like 1.5 ms of lag it seems.

Without a sensor or actuator on the pad, I don’t understand what kind of lag they’re measuring.
Edit: I guess it’s measuring time between updates.

For that price I would rather just dual mod with a pad and a dpdt switch. Would cost me $30 at most

A Reliable, lag free adapter that isn’t going to fall apart on me after 2 weeks of use?
I call shenanigans.
Also for part of one of there videos, the demo of a Xbox 360 controller for the PS3, why is the game play screen is a Xbox 360 game playing if this supposed to be a PS3 console.

I agree with Rufus on this one, without knowing the method how they test for lag, how are we supposed to trust their lag time results. And having the3 Xbox 360 controller lag less on the PS3 over a official PS3 controller does not sound right. Are they forcing a PS3 controller though their Cronus adapter before going to the PS3 console? If so that is redundant and unscientific.

I’ll hold judgement until a more reputable lag test is performed.

It would be pretty easy to fake a test like that with a wireless controller.

Yeah… I wondered about that too. I thought the PS3 controllers only use the wire for power.

PS3 controllers only use the wire for syncing and charging as far as I know…

Although when connecting a PS3 controller to a computer you can use the cable to make it act as a wired controller.

It seems interesting… but I’d expect differences between the various controllers, even if they were only slight.
