Converter Compatibility Thread

I can vouch for The Ant Commandos converter no longer working with the PS3 in regular controller mode, as noted on their website forums. Beware!

I would assume this would all go back to normal after the next firmware update. I’ve been on the playstation boards lately and most people complain that this update caused their PS3s to crash, corrupt their saves, or cause adapters freeze etc. Im sure every problem this firmware has is connected and that Sony is working very hard to get this fixed.

Got a link? I couldn’t find the forums on their site.

Yeah, hopefully this is a fluke that will be corrected. I’m glad they didn’t purposely disable all PS2-PS3 converters. That would have been even more of a mess.

Wow, remappable? That’s slick. $60 is a high price for a gamble though.

Cool, let me know. The GE is still my little converter that could. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t work.

The PS3 can use HID compliant (driverless) USB controllers for PS3 games only.

They also work for PS1 games.

Thanks, updated. Using a Saturn pad with Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter ought to be fun. That game usually sells high on eBay though. X-Men vs. Street Fighter was a mess on PS1.

Just got my Hais converter in, and gave it a test with MAME. Worked just fine, and was able to play through SF3NG only using one continue. I didn’t have any problems with dropped inputs or anything, and so far, so good.

Since I don’t own a PS3, I won’t be able to test it on that console yet.

I also have the Hais adapter and it’s perfect. Been using the SF15th controller with it, and recently the PS2 Saturn pad.

Yeah I don’t play them much; they’re mainly collector’s items.

Is the Dragon plus 2.7 compatible???

because it doesnt say in the first post

No clue. I haven’t seen a post to confirm this. If someone has one I’ll definitely update the OP.

google is failing me now, but I found multiple posts on a TAC forum and on the US Playstation forums complaining about the TAC converter no longer working in regular controller mode (but apparently it still works in the GH and RB modes).

Don’t you have a Saturn Kyle? It has AWESOME versions of XvsSF and MSHvsSF.

Massystem Superpro Stick

I recently got a Massystem superpro stick with a ps2 connecter so I went to fry’s and got a ps2 to ps3 adapter (forgot the name…it was like 10 bucks). The mas joystick works on the ps3 main menu but when I started playing street fighter 4 it works but the problem is it keeps on going back and forth from the main ps3 screen and the street fighter 4 screen. I tried with my x-arcade stick and it works but this stick is crap. So my question is:

  1. Is it the ps2 to ps3 adapter issue?
  2. I saw the sticky that says the IPIN is the only one that seems to be compatible with mas…anyone having any issues with IPIN?
  3. I saw the hais is getting good reviews…is this compatible w/ mas?

P.S. My PS3 current version is 2.7

Here’s a quick Q regarding the converter mentioned a few posts up: It’s one of those generic PS2-to-USB adapters, the PIII model 538. I have one, and I’ve been using it for a while; seems decent to me. Does anyone have any info on lag/if it has Home button operation, like maybe up+select? It works with my old Hori stick and all my old controllers, but what I really want to know is if it will lag out on me when I get my HRAP1.

This is the one in question: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-FOR-PS2-TO-PS3-GAME-CONTROLLER-CONVERTER-ADAPTER_W0QQitemZ260352631371QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item260352631371&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1309|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Any info would be great, thanks! Oh I should also mention: This adapter still works with 2.7, for whatever that’s worth. I just used it last night.

i’m just about to buy the HAIS, BUT however, Should I do EMS mail???

Just got my Hais

hais works with firmware 2.7 and ascii ps1 arcade stick and ds2

does not work with SFAC green pcb 8V (controller symbol in the top left of the tv screen flashes on and off)

I live in Australia and the Hais arrived in about a week (non ems), which is pretty quick but it is sent from Hongkong. not sure about US delivery times

Type of stick: Old MAS PS2 Stick
Source/destination system: PS2 to Xbox
Converter with link to place of purchase: Game Elements
Results: Works perfectly with MvC2 & CvS2. Had to change button mapping, but I think that is due to weird MAS button mapping and not the converters fault.

So stoked to finally have my MAS stick working on my xbox again! Too bad I have to get used to Happ sticks again. =(

I wonder if this method is reliable for testing input delay on PC adapters.

  1. Load FBA and SFA3 (980904 Euro)

  2. Go to Service menu then Input.

  3. Pause the game and then hold down a button on your controller.

  4. Press F1 to advance one frame, if the input registers in the first frame then your adapter is lag-free.

Yep. Buried somewhere deep in storage at my parents house. It’s literally been years since I’ve touched it. I had both of those ports and loved them. They’re now played on FBA on a modded Xbox.

Thanks! I added it and am glad to hear that it worked. Not too sure on the button mapping since it maps an original controller correctly. I’m guessing it’s the stick like what you said.

Mas Superpro Stick PS2 connector

Type of stick: Mas Superpro Stick PS2 connector
Source/destination system: PS2 to PS3
Converter with link to place of purchase: massystems.com --> call them, sometimes they don’t pick up…
Results: Works perfectly with sf4
Cost: $25 bucks

I was having problems with the mas superpro stick with an adapter I purchase at frys. The ps2 to ps3 adapter I got from massystem works great. They are actually local to me so I picked it up at their place. Don’t know what adapter this is but works like a charm. So if you got a mas stick order the adapter direct from them since they tested which ones work with their product.

P.S. Currently using 2.70 firmware

yeah apparently this is a common issue with HVG2’s… it’ll do the infinite Home screen loop, as if somebody’s constantly hitting the home button on the controller.
