Converter Compatibility Thread

Hey, for you ebay buyers out here. Does anyone know of a cheap (essentially) lag-free PS2 to PS3 converter that works with the namco stick? I keep seeing $3-5 converters but they have no reliable reviews available.

Mind explain to me how N64 zelda games controls should behave, i can spare some pts to grab one zelda game and sin & punishment. Think i can forget about those rumble support, nintendo have removed the force feedback when they release on VC.
Reference for the controls and buttons.

I hope i remember the correct amount points i have on my wii.

Is there a way to take my xbox 360 TE stick and hook it up to my wii? If so, can i get a website to buy the product. I want it for tatsunoko vs capcom so i do not have to buy the $80 fightstick.

well ive got the gamecube releases of the games, so i dont think VC will be much concern for me there… but… i mainly curious about the button mapping, ensuring that it is correct (no idea why it wouldn’t) In either majora’s mask or ocarina of time, your inventory slots are usually used with left, down, and right C-button… since the gamecube release, you use the C-stick (with those same directions), but the c-stick feel’s so awkward to me to use. they have everything displayed on the screen where it should be… from looking at the PDF of the controls and the button swap stuff, it looks like i would be able to do this just fine. I might also be looking up some things about the VC releases to see if they might’ve changed some stuff to make things work better with a GC controller.

Why the fuck aren’t people reading anything in the first post?

Why are peope eating up bandwith?

Goddammit

Yes, can someone please confirm if this adapter works with the digital PCB?

I used to have the sumoto that looks like this: http://www.spotted-horse.net/images/ebay/ps3/ps2-ps3-sumoto.WM.jpg

But I can’t find it and probably lost it somewhere

In addition, the HAIS has stopped working with the digital PCB. Its lights constantly blink and don’t respond when I press the PS button on the adapter. It was tested on 3.10 PS3 firmware. I don’t know at what firmware it stopped working at. I’ve recently just updated the PS3 to 3.15. I haven’t tested it with a PS2 PCB yet but will try when I get back home from work.

If someone has some recommendations for digital PCBs that work with the latest firmware, I’d appreciated it.

What’s awesome is that the first page has a FAQ because people repeatedly asked the same questions over and over in the last Converter thread. I’ll try harder.

STOP BUYING PS3 AND 360 STICKS IF YOU CARE ABOUT MULTI-CONSOLE COMPATIBILITY AND ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH SOLDERING. GET A PS2 STICK INSTEAD.

Oh, and sorry that I don’t reply to PS3 questions. I don’t personally own one.

i was planning to buy a ps3 hrap3 but then i noticed this thread and was amazed!!! so my question is regarding the arcana heart hori arcade stick. does that stick fall under the hrap2?? http://www.japanvideogames.com/Suggoi-Arcana-Heart-2-Arcade-Pro-Stick-p/ps2j-arcana2stick.htm thats the link of the stick im talking about. im a huge noob to this and i dont want to make a mistake and not get what i was looking for. all i want is to use a this stick to play on my ps3 and wii for TvC. this will work with those converters right?? thanks!!!

Quoted for truth. PlayStation 2 arcade sticks really are the only way to go if soldering and the like is too daunting.

The Hori Arcana Heart 2 stick isn’t TECHNICALLY a Real Arcade Pro stick at all. It’s definitely not a bad stick at all and it will work with all the converters you want it to (as long as the first post in this thread says it can). But there are two caveats that you should be aware of about this stick:

  • If you really only care about Sanwa joysticks, this shouldn’t be an issue, but the Arcana Heart 2 joystick can only mount a Sanwa JLF. I’ve heard reports that you can use a Seimitsu LS-33 or LS-56, but I’m not too sure on that.
  • The buttons on this stick are stock Hori buttons which although okay for a few months, die very quickly. Unfortunately as well, the buttons are soldered directly to this gigantic PCB so unfortunately, you’ll still have to do a bit of soldering to remove the PCB and the buttons. After that, you’ll also have to solder on new wires and crimp on new quick disconnects. Contrary to what people say though, this isn’t as big of a hassle as it sounds to be. If you’ve got the tools already, you’re only looking at an hour long job MAX. I personally clocked 25 minutes removing the PCB and adding on quick disconnects to a Hori Tekken 5 stick which has a similar if not exact same PCB as the Arcana Heart 2 stick.

thanks ikagi. glad to know they work with all those converters. now im bummed about the soldering. never done anything like that and am afraid or ruining anything on the stick. but i should just go for it. my plans were to use some of those clear seimitsu buttons. can you use a hrap3 top panel on the arcana?? i dont like how there button layouts go across from left to right, i preffer the hrap3 layout. any suggestions?? thanks again for you help bro!!!

or would you suggest on just getting a hrap3?? i was planning to send it to modchipman so they can do the dual mod for wii and maybe a 360 too.

No problem rapturedj. Trust me, it seems really hard, but soldering isn’t that daunting. I learned how to do it the first time after just watching 1 YouTube vid on how to do it.

You can actually use a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 panel on an Arcana Heart 2 stick base. They’re from the same mold and design, so of course they’d be interchangeable. The only problem is, you’d have a gaping hole where the turbo switch windows are, but that’s nothing a little paper and tape can’t fix.

Actually, if you’re planning on getting a PlayStation 2 stick, you should try scouring the Trading Outlet before anything else. PS2 sticks come up every so often for quite reasonable prices if you ask me. In the end though, it’s up to you; just do whatever you think is most convenient.

Just wanted to give more test results for the Gamemon Universal USB Convertor compatibility.
Works best with updated driver. XP- Vista compatible

  5. Taiko Drum (Konami and Red Octane)

PS2 devices not working

  1. logitech precision wireless PS2 controller- inputs kept repeating, I think it doesnt get enough power
  2. Interact Storm chaser pad- some inputs registered two buttons.
  3. Intec Wireless controllers

Xbox worked

  1. Gamestop Madcatz Item 4526 red wired turbo
    controller
  2. Logitech Wireless
  3. SF 15th Anniversary Pads
    Still need to test
    DDR pads

Also in order for the “Converters Setting” function to work in XP, (and possibly Vista-Win 7) you must browse to the DevMgr.exe located in C:\Program Files\FT8D91\DevMgr.exe and set the compatibility to Win 2000 mode or the exe will not start.
This could be because I use Windows DEP (data execution prevention), but I won’t turn it off for one exe I hardly ever run.

Update:
For some reason now, the HAIS works with the digital PCB. In addition, it works with a PS2 PCB (Tested with Tekken 5 Anniversary Stick). Again, this was tested on firmware 3.15 on Street Fighter IV.

I don’t have to find a replacement anymore! :woot:

Sound like GC controller layout problem, I did read up a bit from gamefaqs on the N64 ver and GC ver doesn’t mention on the controls. :xeye: VC version is from N64 i believe. I not a zelda fan anyway, we need another zelda fan to verify all these :chat:.
If i have time tomorrow i will test out that classic N64 converter - -, if no time it will be the next week end going off for some vacation trip within this few weeks ^^;
Cheers

well i decided to jump on it myself… no idea when ill get my converter, but once i do, i can at least test out the gamecube releases.

Have some spare time before my vacation tomorrow, I tested classic N64 controller. I tested the TvsC with my PS2 hori real arcade stick work perfect i can say should be lagless. After that i tested the classic controller port with my 2 classic controller one of them is the hori turbo one. Work well on ice-climber and shining and the darkness since i only have this 2 game in my wii(home button dun work as expected). Now to the last part which is the N64, I used my 3th party N64 controller and bought sin and punishment. I managed to change my controller layout to mode 2 according to hkems site and swap the button for Z and L. The game work perfect. There shouldn’t be much issue about this converter i guess. Zelda part i guess i leave it to dav3yb ;p.

Looking for a PS2 to GCn converter there are 3 options in the OP.

Which one’s been proven to be the best?

use the element i have 2. it works with both gc & xb

Thanks.

Has anyone bought one of those yet? I’m curious if it a.) works with the namco stick b.) is laggy.

If anyone has info enough to answer those questions, I’d be very grateful.
