dav3yb, you got your link wrong and Kyle, the guy at Raphnet does actually make a Nintendo 64 to Gamecube converter cable. Both you fellows dropped the ball!
I don’t own one myself, but a couple of dudes who attend my local Smashfests (Super Smash Brothers gatherings for those not in the know) use these to play Super Smash Brothers 64 on their Wii using the Homebrew Channel and an emulator. They even use it for F-Zero X and Star Fox 64. It’s a REALLY nifty adapter and as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t lag. I can Z-Cancel just fine in SSB64 and there doesn’t seem to be dropped inputs either. The multiple button mappings are also wicked useful if you want to play other games like The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask as well.
If you’ve got the cash to burn, you should definitely pick one up. They’re not anywhere near the build quality the RetroZone guys’ Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System to USB and Gamecube converters, but they do their job very well.
Rugdoctor - let me just make sure… did you perform the October 28th update on your Xbox? It was an xbox live thing…
the XFPS (green) worked fine with the older controller that I have until the new update. someone else confirmed that with the green adapter, it does not work anymore.
Can someone confirm that the BlazePro works for the Namco stick for Xboxx360?
I know there were people that said it worked but I just got the converter today and it doesn’t work. After the Xbox360 update killed third party peripherals, could it have stopped the BlazePro as well?
PS: Does this converter require a Microsoft controller to be plugged in first, THEN unplug it, THEN plug in the converter? This is what the Xconverter needs so I’m worndering if this would work too for the BlazePro… I’d try this but I don’t have a controller to test it on.
Note: It works for PC but not on X360 so it’s not broken…
2nd Note: I believe the POS October 28th patch is to blame for the BlazePro no longer working on the 360… Although I’d still like it if someone else could confirm as well.
i wouldnt either, normally , but i wish nintendo would allow for configuring the GC controller on VC titles. at least then there would be SOME way to play the Zelda games at least somewhat normally (the C-stick just doesnt cut it for items)
Haha, I wish ToToTEK still made those. I can’t believe how many of their cool converters they stopped producing. They had these awesome PlayStation 1/2 and PS/2 Keyboard to Gamecube converter that I bought for myself a while ago. Not only was it lagless, it was freaking great for Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II Plus.
Last I heard, the BlazePro does indeed still work okay after the update. Did you try out my troubleshooting methods? Perhaps you just made a mistake when you were hooking everything together. :wonder:
Yessir, the Xconverter 360 not only still works just dandy, but the PlayStation 1 Namco Arcade Joystick still works dandy.
Luckily enough I had an old EX2 PCB lying around so I just hooked that up to the BlazePro.
So there’s no guide function possible unless there’s a analog button on the stick/controller being converted?
Is it possible to add a mic function by plugging in a mic into the Xbox360 controller that’s plugged into the converter? Same idea with the guide function possible?
Yes, unfortunately, you won’t have access to the Guide button unless you have a dedicated Analog button on your PlayStation 1/2 stick. And unfortunately, you cannot get headset functionality if you keep the bypass controller plugged in. Really, the only thing the converter steals from the controller is the security code. Once that’s taken, you don’t need the controller for anything else. This means, unfortunately, since the converters themselves don’t have a headset jack, you can’t use those with your converter and this is true no matter which one you buy.
However, you can use an official Wireless Headset just fine with these converters, much to my surprise. I’ve been using one for a little while now and it works just chipper. Since it syncs to the console as opposed to being connected to the controller itself, it works perfectly fine.
My family might be buying my friend a Hori EX Pro for Christmas, however since he’s a 360 and I’m a PS3, I was looking for a good adapter to recommend to him so that he can use his stick when he comes over. I know that the Cross Battle has recieved some complaints about dropped inputs, however I a dirt cheap $18 model online that looks like a generic knockoff of the Cross Battle. I’m guessing that even in a best case scenario it’d probably have the same dropped input issues, but for $18 I don’t think there’d be much room for complaint. Has anyone else used this “generic” model and knows how it compares to the Cross Battle? It would be a glorious accident if for some reason this version outperformes the more expensive one, but even if it delivers pretty much the same functionality I think we’d be satisfied considering the price.
I can’t say based on firsthand experience, but if you’re looking at the EMS Total Control adapters which do PlayStation 1/2 to Dreamcast, then I really don’t see why the Sammy branded Guilty Gear XX ASCII stick wouldn’t work. ASCII sticks tend to work perfectly fine with most of the converters with a similar success rate to the Hori sticks. I think you’ll be fine.
Timstuff, if it were me personally, no matter how cheap or even free the converter was, if it drops inputs or lags, I’d regret getting it forever. Having your moves come out reliably is very important and even if your friend gets this really awesome stick from your folks, if he can’t use it reliably when he comes over, it’s not going to do either of you guys any good.
Optimally, you should get him a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 for the PlayStation 3 (SA if you’re willing to spend a bit more cash) or a Mad Catz Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition for the Xbox 360 and then dual-modding the stick with one of Toodles’ Imps with either a common ground Mad Catz controller (for the HRAP3) or a Cthulu board (for the FSTE).
If you can’t do the solder work and can’t get anyone to do it for you, then I recommend you buy him a PlayStation 1 or 2 era stick and buy two converters from an SRK user named laugh, an inPin for PS1/2 to PS3, and an Xconverter 360 for PS1/2 to X360. It’s definitely the better solution if you can’t find someone to solder up for you.
Actually, you should try hunting down a stick for your friend in the Trading Outlet here on SRK. Dual-modded sticks pop up pretty often for fair prices and the guys here are great to work with. Support your SRK community! :smokin:
