Inpin is a really good ps2 to ps3 converter and it is readily available in the trading post. $28 shipped i believe
I have a dual ps to pc adapter that im using to play fighters like Vampire Savior and kof on 2DF. It feels like i really have to dig if i want my dp to come out. But on my gaming systems i dont have this problem. Is it my converter, do i need to mess with settings or is it something else?
Thanks
When you bypass the security with a wired controller, does that controller have to stay plugged in or does it just kind of set up the converter? Do you need to do this everytime you use the converter?
Gigazord, the bypass controller really only is there to set up the converter. After your Xbox 360 recognizes the converter as a controller, you can unplug it and you won’t have to do anything else with your controller. Unfortunately, you have to redo this every time you boot up your Xbox 360 since the converter needs to gain security access from a controller every time you boot up; it doesn’t save the security code from a bypass controller because that means you can never use that bypass controller on your Xbox 360 while that converter is plugged in ever again.
And damn, my mini-FAQ is starting to get outdated really fast! It’s rather frustrating; I’m wondering why the Blazepro doesn’t recognize Rock Band gear. It shouldn’t be the case if it’s just taking the security ID. :wonder:
yea but theres alot on ebay for like 5 bucks which is crazy n cheap i just wanna know if any of them are good or not cuz its better pay 5 or 6 bucks than 20 to 30 dollars
Ahh thats unfortunate. I was going to just borrow my friends 360 controllers to bypass the security but I guess if this is the case, I would need to go out and get some wired 360 controllers to keep on standby to bypass.
Seriously right? The MadCatz Retro Sticks didn’t work either? WTF? I’m in the process of checking rockband gear with the blaze pro one more time, and then i’m gonna try the rockband gear on the xconverter
Post links to those ones you see on eBay and we’ll do our best to let you know if they work or not. Chances are, if it’s only $5 or $6, they are not going to work for PS2->PS3. You get what you paid for, those cheap ones are more for plugging a PS2 joystick/controller into a PC. These inPin converters from Laugh are guaranteed to work on PS3 and PC too, and his Xconverter 360’s will do the same for 360.
Question about the XConverter 360 if anyone knows the answer. Does the 360 controller need to be an official wired controller or would one with a 3rd party USB charge cable work?
Tried out the Blazepro & Xconverter with a rockband guitar as the bypass/piggyback controller and it worked!
For the blazepro, I did what d7onr8 did. I had to plug in the Guitar first and sync it. And then once it recognized the guitar, I unplugged it from the console and plugged it into the blazepro and plugged the blazepro in, waited a minute, and it synced up, no lag, flawless victory.
For the joytron xconverter, it was a straight plug and chug. Plugged the guitar and ps2 into the xconverter, plugged the xconverter into the 360. It didn’t recognize at first, so I unplugged the xconverter and plugged it back in, waited a minute, and it recognized it! No lag, everything worked fine.
If you’re having issues with a piggyback controller not being recognized, try plugging in the piggyback controller directly into the console first so that it syncs up, after it syncs up, unplug it from the console and plug it into the blazepro/xconverter and that should fix the problem. Remember to give it a minute to recognize and sync, and not a figurative minute, I mean, literally, wait 60 seconds for everything to sort itself out and then try buttons. Make sure the xbox guide button is lighting up! If the guide button is not lit up, fiddle around with the connection(s). Hope this helps everybody and that people can get similar results.
Blazepro adapter tested with DOA Hori EX2 Fight Stick for 360; synced fine with no problems off the bat. Blazepro adapter tested with Blaze Twin Shock stick, no noticeable lag (pretty crappy joystick period). Blazepro adapter tested with Sega Saturn HSS-0136 using custom Saturn to PS2 adapter made from Reckless, no noticeable lag. Will edit this post when I test on HSS-0130 Virtual Pro Dual stick but need to order another Blazepro adapter…EDIT HSS-0130 works fine with no noticeable lag (see details here).
If so, i’ll have to take the PCB out and put it in some kind of project box so I won’t have to lug a guitar around with me, though it might look badass cuz I would leave it plugged in
Thanks for doing all these tests Truckasaurus! I’d rep you, but I’m too poor for Premium!
Thanks a lot for doing more testing for bypass controllers d7onr8. It’s good to know that ReKleSS’ converters still work just fine with modern day converters! Shame that they’re recognized as PlayStation 1 Digital Pads because if they read as DualShock 1s, they’d work with everything!
Nobody’s tried it out with a MAS Systems PlayStation 2 stick yet, but I’m sure we’ll get some Marvel vs. Capcom 2 fans who’ll jump all over the Xconverter 360 once MarkMan drops off his verdict on the converter.
It seems like the Xconverter is fickle during boot. I found the best way is to wait until your xbox 360 finishes booting and then plug in your xconverter with piggyback.
I happened to have an old MAS stick lying around. Tested it quickly in SF4, seems to work fine! Haven’t done any tests in MvC2 or any other games, but it seems to like the converter. I’ll try to test it with other games.
EDIT: HD Remix and MvC2 seem to work w/o any lag. Was able to do Ironman infinite until they dizzied.
Hi,
I’ve just bought the Xconverter 360 and it works beautifully with my HRAP SA.
I have a question : would my PS2 Guitar work on the 360?
I don’t have any Guitar game on the 360, so I can’t try.
Yeah, for both converters, I waited until the game was all loaded and booted before I plugged in the converters. Literally, I didn’t plug anything in until I saw the SF4 video screen start up.
Where can I get me one of these Saturn->PSX converters? Or maybe a tutorial or some blueprints?
That sounds like a good ideal. I had an explorer guitar and a fender guitar at my disposal, I only used the fender one, but I would imagine that the explorer would have the same positive result. I’d like to see this project box of yours, if you would be so kind as to post pics whenever you finish? :china:
There was a fellow like maybe 6 months ago here on SRK’s Tech Talk forums called ReKleSS. He programmed an Atmel chip (forget what variety) using his own code to convert a Sega Saturn gamepad to work on any PlayStation 1 and 2 console. The converter made the pad read as if it were a genuine PS1 Digital Pad, so in essence, he programmed a lagless converter. I don’t know if he’s still around to answer PMs, but he should be able to answer your questions including wiring diagrams, code, and what tools you might need. Hope your quest comes out fruitful!
Yeah I definitely agree with this! Gigazord, if you ever do get around to making a project box for this thing, be sure to show us some pics! I might just make a dual layer project box myself to hold 2 Mad Catz wired controller PCBs just for bypassing Microsoft security!
