Converter Compatibility Thread

The only Saturn to USB converter doesn’t let you press Start on the PS3. You need to pick up a USB Saturn pad.

The InPin is hit and miss with Digital PCBs. Get a HAIS since the Sumoto got gimped.

I was going to go that route, but there are so many fakes on EBAY I didn’t know who to trust. I looked around for other sites, but couldn’t find any in stock.

Does anyone know if the Game Elements PSX to GC/Xbox converter is compatible with the MC Cthulhu? Does the MC Cthulhu count as a Digital PCB? My apologies if this has already been asked/answered

Don’t have a MC Cthulhu to try it out on, however, I was curious which system you were looking to use the GE adapter on, xbox or gamecube or both? If its just the xbox, you can get a USB to Xbox 1 adapter on ebay and save yourself some money.

That’s true, I forgot about that option for USB->Xbox, thanks for the heads up  but I was gonna use it on gamecube also. i’ve also seen these Game elements looking converters for a penny on ebay with like $6 shipping which I think is a pretty good deal. Does anybody know if there is a difference between these red background converters versus these yellow background ones that are linked on the first page? Are they the same adapter just different packaging? thanks

inpin stopped working after vista x86 sp2 update with a ps2 analog pcb. For some reason the buttons are registered as being pushed down constantly.

EDIT: You can ignore this post, I just noticed one of the pins broke on my controller’s connector!

Hey guys. Very informative thread. Just got a couple quick questions.

I’m currently testing Windows 7 RC1. Which of those converters have driver support (not just the crappy one provided by Windows) within Windows 7? I have a SuperJoyBox Pro 5 but there are no Windows 7 drivers for it. There IS a very basic Windows 7/Vista driver that gets installed, but it is extremely lacking. The POV is not recognized - meaning it’s difficult to use it in games that require the POV Hat switch for Dpad control, and the right analog stick isn’t handled as well as the custom driver in XP. It also doesn’t have button remapping, AutoFire, etc. like the XP custom driver does.

Basically, I want to be able to use my controller the same way I do in XP; the lack of a custom driver is keeping me from fully transitioning over to Windows 7.

P.S. Vista drivers/software also can work with Windows 7, so if any of these converters have a solid driver that is supported in Windows Vista, they will be great too.

Thanks!

Hey laugh, yea I meant ps2 analog pcb, but I didn’t notice one of my pins broke before, so I left the EDIT up there. My mistake.

I just received one of those Game Elements adapters from a US eBay seller - it’s a red background one. Seems fine to me.

He stated in his auction that some had yellow backgrounds and some not, but that the packaging was the only difference. Of course, he may not know for definite.

I was surprised, but the Mayflash website has Vista drivers for your converter. I haven’t tested these personally. I don’t imagine many of the other converters supply drivers.

Here’s a strange question (and sorry if its been asked before). Since the mayflash max shooter has usb input, would that recognise a standard usb pc joypad? Thing is, I have a pc joypad that plays really well for fighting games (and which works on ps3) but would love to use it on the 360.

That’s a reasonable question that I don’t have a definite answer for. I’m willing to wager that the answer is no otherwise they would have advertised it. The last PC gamepad I owned actually used the old DB15 game port connector.

I want to say that a local store has some $10 USB Logitech pads. I’ll see what I can sort out.

Someone was also asking about using an Xbox controller S on the 360 using the Mayflash Xbox to PS2 to the Max Shooter. I found my Xbox-PS2 converter and will check it when I’m home.

Cool! Thanks for the reply, I think I’ll buy a red background and a yellow background one and compare them for myself. Thanks again, I’m a little more at ease in buying one of those penny ones off eBay

i have a red backed one. i can test most ps1/2 stuff with it on the gamecube if you want. actually i’ll probably just go ahead and do it tomorrow (i know ps1 ds and ps2 ds work fine)

The two I have were bought retail with a red background. If you find that there’s a difference between the two let me know.

I just tried an Xbox1 Controller S to XP Joy Box (Xbox to PS2) to the Max Shooter (PS2 to 360). The end result was no workie.

A few days back I tested an old PS1 digital I got for free with my inPin and it worked pretty good, HD Remix was working (seemed to have trouble with the diagonals but it’s an old controller, so I attributed it to that). I’ll test it on my PC tonight, and see if I can get the model of my Digital and post my results.

I can test this out tonight as well, assuming this is Vista 32-bit. I didn’t even know SP2 was out yet.

I just bought a red backed one off eBay coming from canada and a yellow backed off eBay coming from florida. I’ll test’em both on a PSone DS (the most compatible model) when they come in, and then I’m gonna test all my PS2 converters on the PSX functionality of the MC Cthulhu, even the inpin, although I don’t know why you would need an inPin converter with a Cthulhu, but hey why not

too bad about the XP Joy Box, but I don’t see a huge market for Xbox1 -> PS2 anyways

haha. i’m sure there is someone out there that NEEDS an inpin to work with a cthulhu

Alright guys, sorry if this question has already been answered but I wanna buy two Hais PS2 to USB controllers mentioned in the first post of this thread(since people claim it’s lagless).

I have a Hori arcade stick for the PS2 and I want to use it on PC, but will I need drivers? I know the Hais converter makes the PS2 stick compatible with the PS3, but is it just a simple case of plug and play for the PC also?

It is plug and play on PC.
