PS1 DS works just fine, just tested it to make sure as does the PS2 DS.
If its the same one I bought a few years back then it does lag pretty badly on the PS3. I tried it with my Tekken 5 stick and while the buttons didn’t seem to lag the joystick was really bad.
Edit: never mind i found the input lag test app and just ran it here are my results:
14.68 - 15.2 = -0.52 ms
16.43 - 16.92 = -0.49 ms
16.44 - 15.11 = +1.33 ms
4.54 - 15.07 = -10.53 ms
16.29 - 15.07 = +1.22 ms
woo hoo i have a super cheap very lag free radio shack converter that cost me $10, yay!!!
Just a bump update. Sumotos are still dead under the new 2.76 firmware. Sigh… what did Sumoto do to piss off Sony guys to deserve this perma-ban…
I picked up a SFAC Pad for PS2 yesterday for $2 at a garage sale. The OP is updated with it for the converters I own.
Here’s how to fix the dpad if you guys have any of these laying around.
Thanks for the thread Kyle, the Cube Joybox pro works great with my anniversary stick and Mas arcade stick. Its a shame I cant mod my TE with a pcb for ps2, im not longer used to Happ joysticks and buttons.
Yeah, that does suck. I don’t anticipate the TE being backward compatible anytime soon unless Mad Catz raises hell with Sony. Oh, and your avatar is way too damned distracting. I forget what the post was about every time I see it.
lol I get a lot of PMs about my avatar. Maybe I should change it
do not
i’m pretty happy with mine. i honestly don’t know how i ever played ssb melee with the gamecube controller. ps1/2 ds are so much more comfortable, and play like they were designed for it.
i concur
Anyone?
Bumped because of a small question.
Was looking through the thread and I couldn’t find a good PS2 to Wii converter that would work with my Tekken 5 stick.
Any suggestions?
if you are talking about for TvC, just get a ps2->gamecube= because TvC accepts gc controllers
Yea, PS2 - >Gamecube/Wii
Though this thread doesn’t state if the converters that are mentioned work with the Tekken 5 Hori Stick
oh, sorry didn’t read your question correctly.
I’m not sure about the Tekken 5 stick
SFA 8V Pcb tech question?
Seeing as this thread is the one that has the most discussion about the SFA 8V pcb, I figured it would be best to ask this here. Does anybody know if it’s possible to add or replace a resistor in the pcb so that the required voltage is decreased, essentially turning it into a possible 3.5V or 7.5V pcb? Just wondering if this would solve converter compatability problems with the 8V.
Back to thread topic, I’ve had some inconsistent success using my SFA 8V on my ps3 with an old generic dual controller converter called Super Dual Box. http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Dual-Box-Playstation-2-to-USB-adapter-PS2-to-PC_W0QQitemZ200327513978QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item2ea473477a&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116. I don’t know exactly what’s going on before it starts working. When I first plug it in, the stick goes nuts. But then after pressing and holding all ten buttons while holding the stick up/left for a few seconds, it kinda resets and starts working normally. I know it sounds really weird and I don’t know whether I’m actually causing a short somewhere but it does start to work normally on my ps3, although inconsistently. And to boot, once the 8V starts working normally, I’m able to plug in my 3.5V into the second PS2 input on the converter, and it also works normally. But the only way that both of them would work together is if I have only the 8V plugged in first, get it to start working normally, and then plug in the 3.5V. The details as to why are way beyond my understanding but I’m happy to know that I have a converter I could use for both my 8V and 3.5V SFA Sticks at the same time even though it’s not consistent. It’s very hard to explain what I’m experiencing with this converter but I thought it would be useful to share my experience.
Another note, if I simultaneously press more the 6 buttons on the 8V, the converter goes haywire until the buttons are released. Kind of a plus for me because it prevents people from mashing on it.
Type of stick: Street Fighter 15th Anniversary Stick 3.5V, 7.5V, 8V
Source/destination system: PS2 to PS3 and PC
Converter with link to place of purchase: Super Dual Box, bought on ebay.
Results: 3.5V and 7.5V work flawlessly, 8V has the problem that I described above on both PS3 and PC. Have not checked for lag.
I recently bought a HVG2 PS2 to PS3 converter for use on my computer. The main features I was looking for were:
-LAGLESS
-CHEAP
-COMPACT
-64 Bit Windows support
After reading about this converter on sdtekken, I wanted to check for myself. For $10, I’d say this is a good bang for the buck. One of things that people do not like about this converter is that it only supports Analog controllers. If you do not have an analog controller, it probably will not work for you. When I plugged it into my computer, drivers were automatically detected and installed. After that, I went to the Game Controller configuration and everything was responding. However, my stick does not have Analog mode on by default, so it recognizes the DPAD as buttons, instead of the directionals, which aren’t exactly a major issue.
I’ve tested this adapter on Akatsuki Blitzkampf, and it was lagless. Compared to my EMS Dual Shooter (which does not support 64 bit windows), I can not feel any delay or lag at all. Execution worked perfectly. I was able to perform fireball motions, DP motions, charge motions without any issue. I have yet to try this on a PS3 yet, and I’ll update it when I try.
If you have a Fry’s nearby, and need an adapter fast, this is the adapter for you. However, if your controller does not have Analog input, stay away from this one. I just wanted to let people know that this converter works on 64 bit (vista), while a lot of others don’t.
UPDATE:
Works lagless and flawlessly on PS3 as well. There isn’t any documentation on how to bring up the PS menu, but I’m sure there is.
I’m not sure but I don’t imagine it’s that simple. For what it’s worth I have an 8V SFAC and it doesn’t work with a single converter I own. I’ve seen people selling the other PCBs. You could also definitely do a PS1 pad hack to replace it.
i also posted this in your max shooter review thread but,
to use the ps2->xbox 360 converter,
Instead of using a regular xbox 360 wired controller, would you by able to use a wired guitar hero guitar to bypass the MS security on the controllers?
This thread needs to stay on the first page.
