Constantine TV Series!

Well…Lucy Griffiths is out as the female lead in Constantine.
Her character will be written out, and replaced.

Her replacement

I hope in a daring new move they decide to make Constantine a white woman.

Man that would be sooooooooo forward thinking like omg.

A black woman!

I approve of the replacement, she reminds me of Rachel Weisz now. I would rather them replace actor playing Constantine, I was not impressed by his performance at all.

Look what tumblr is doing.

How many are you guys willing to bet they never opened a page of an issue of Hellblazer?

Papa Midnite to be played be Michael James Shaw…

New Constantine preview…

So I saw the first episode of Constantine…thought it was pretty good even there was a lot of said in there that could’ve been saved for future episodes.

The Dr. Fate reference was fun to see.

I like the show myself, and i think the monsters have been cool so far, but i truly think constantine himself is not likeable enough to american audiences. First of all, hes british, and not sexy british, so that throws mad female viewers off, and although i know hes not suppose to be a likeable character, like, hes super unlikeable in general, even when he does good. Before comic book nerds start yelling at me, i know who constaintine is suppose to be, but this is a mainstream show on nbc thats missing hella mainstream elements.

Heroes existed for as long as it did because it had hella mainstream elements in it to keep it going, and even when the intelligent human beings gave up sometime in season 2, there was more then enough to keep the knuckle draggers going.

Constatine might be too dark for current audiences too, and there is no drama behind his identity either. Like with shows like supernatural, or shitty grimm, there is this background plot of hiding your identity that they can write around and have fun with at times. With constantine, hes just constantine, thats that, and lets kill shit and do some magic, but so far not for any properly explained purpose to the ignorant audience who is tuning in waiting to find out who this guy is, how he can do what he does, and why he does what he does.

The hints at why he does what he does are so few and far between, and vague, that its kinda like, okay. I know we get it, but i think the show might have dove in too deep at first, with a hella unlikeable constantine for the mainstream, and not kinda telling us a story or anything at all so far. For the most part, i assume most of the audience is like, “Okay, this guy hunts demons or some shit, and hes getting followed by an angel, but why. Also, some girl who is psychic is following him, and she seems shady, but i dont know why”. Which sounds good usually, but i think in this case its not working out well.

its not too dark. supernatural is fucking going ham on darkness and its lasted for almost a decade. too dark is bullshit unless you mean specifically for nbc audiences. cause nbc is a fucking horrible place for that kinda show. i honestly had more faith for it being on scifi or fucking fox…and thats sayin sumtin

I’m telling y’all, it’s that friday night death spot. This isn’t like the old days of ABC’s TGIF friday night lineup.

As a huge fan of John im disappointed and really wanted this to be"the"show.

I thought this shit was getting cancelled?

Yes, pretty dark for nbc, and also in the sense that there are few uplifiting moments so far in constantine, and it doesnt look like there are going to be any. There is a lot of comic relief even in supernaturl in general, even when an episode isnt aiming to be comical. Supernatural also started during a different time in tv almost a decade ago, and something like that show was being fiended for for a while. Constantine is now kicking off in 2014, and it doesnt seem to have a clue about its audience, hence why its failing.

first five episodes online

Bet they won’t do Bastet that actually LOOKS like Bastet. Still, just in case, I’m gonna pirate watch. If Constantine falls through…well, at least we still have Grimm. Hey, who wants to bet Constantine is gonna have to go up against Etrigan, Trigon, and at some point, Dead Man?

Latest episode was good. Again, i enjoy this show, but its a shame i dont think it will last. I think if they give it a season 2 and maybe work on a few tiny changes with some good marketing, this may be able to sustain itself. A lot of great shows were once close to cancellation like the office, but they gave it a season 2 and all of a sudden a huge influx of new viewers. Also steve carrell in 40 year old virgin at the time, im sure didnt hurt.

I just like the lore, monsters, and magic so far, and thats really missing these days. There is magic on the cw shows, but its fairly lame (same old shit) and tame these days (in general really), where constantine and his 5 million different magic spells, magical weapons and enchantments makes for a lot of creative freedom for the writers.

I think they should just look at the show and you can see its not bad, so just work on what may need to be tweaked to get audiences hooked on this unlikeable brit. haha

I like this show a lot, but I can see why it isn’t catching on. It feels a bit “corny” when the comics were anything but that. Its like they were going more for a style like “Supernatural” and in a sense doesn’t look like it takes itself seriously. Either way I’d love it if the show lasted at least 2 seasons.

What film was it that Heath Ledger died mid way through making, the director and writers came up with a story that meant his character’s face was changed. That’s what they need to do with Constantine, I’d still like to see Jon Hamm in the role, even with dyed blonde hair. Shit bring back Keanu, anyone would be more suited than this actor.
