Not really, the network code on HDR and SFIV are being done by different teams from different companies on opposite sides of the globe.
So… I take it that in SF4, if a scrub makes a room and a bunch of pros come in and own him, that scrub can effectively just kick them all out? I hope that’s not the case because if it is, rather than rage-quitters we’re going to have a lot of rage-kickers now. It’ll probably be better if there was a voting system amongst all the other players in the lobby as well, but that still might not work if you’re the only good player in the lobby and everyone else is a scrub that wants you gone.
If you demolish everyone to the point that they don’t want to play with you, sounds like maybe they don’t want to play with you. Wah. The disparity between a high level player and a complete scrub can be pretty extreme, and it doesn’t make sense to force people to play way out of their level just to give someone the ego boost of destroying noobs. If that kind of thing (getting kicked for beating up on scrubs) happens, maybe it’s a sign that more casual players aren’t as interested in Domination as you are. Back off or play against your own.
Sounds like a brilliant plan to me. (Correspondingly, top tier players could kick noobs: everybody wins.) I think the key implementation aspect is to make sure it’s a majority vote as opposed to just room-owner. Otherwise he can just boot everybody that beats him.
That’s actually a pretty normal take on the match with a smart claw and an unfortunate Honda. Kusumondo risked wall dives getting in and Kachu risked getting knocked down to inflict wall dive damage. Playing ultra-safe would involve both players turtling in the corner, which isn’t the case here.
It’s still fairly even because if claw turtles up, it’s very difficult for Honda to get in as well. At worst, the match is now a 4-6 disadvantage to claw.
Definitely right on your other points though. Honda is overall advantageous in lag and can get away with stuff that doesn’t work as well offline. And yeah, the Honda and dictator matches both seem like heavy favorites against claw until the claw player really knows what he’s doing.
how often do you see lag in this game? I don’t even see it every day.
Didn’t they patch the netcode in the beta? There is a precedent here.
I’m fairly certain they’ll fix a good number of the glitches, online and offline. I’ll agree tweaks to the characters are unlikely, but I wouldn’t mind it if it happened.
If you were a pro why would you stay in a room full of scrubs anyway? Wouldn’t you want a greater challenge?
But still I don’t like the kick option.
Thank God for this…
I was playing for about 1.5 hours yesterday and I had to restart the game 7 times due to networking issues (normally it works better- thou not too much better) and 2 times that was the black screen glitch where I could only see myself and some life bars- I took pictures of it this time. So frustrating- we all spent money on this game and its so buggy its insane. Sometimes I think, “Hey I want to play some HDRemix” then I start to think about what is very likely to happen when I attept to play it and I end up not palying and it sucks. Hopefully this patch focuses on the networking issues and the game code bugs- they can deal with “re-balancing” the game after they make the game work the way it should. Patch can’t come fast enough…

I think dic’s comobs are too powerful, they should make the TOD combo not dizzy.
I think shotos shouldn’t have fireballs because it makes it too hard for non projectile characters. I mean all they have to do is throw fireballs all day.
All Guile has to do is hold down back, throw sonic booms, and flash kick to beat Honda.
Dee Jay is like a harder version of Guile except he’s got jumping LP too.
All Blanka has to do is jumping LK.
Same with Chun, except most of the time she can use MK too. Plus a stored super? Who else has a stored super anymore?
Fei? Oh shit, that flame kick after a chicken wing is a bunch of crap.
T. Hawk? Like every jumping punch knocks Honda out of his headbutts. You have to play that match in such a boring way to win.
Rog? All he’s gotta do is hang back and press standing LP and retaliate.
And dont even get me started on Akuma.

My point is. Everyone is annoying in their own way. For you it might be Honda, but is it worth turning every thread on SRK into a Honda bitch fest?
I have a feeling some of you are getting caught in the Ochio throw because you aren’t connecting your jump in or cross up combos! I agree the stored Ochio is like no other move in the game. But it’s not unstoppable!
There is more to playing Honda than storing the Ochio. You have to play each match differently. Perhaps you should adjust your game against Honda.
Yeah hes either getting around fireballs somehow or hes holding down back and not doing shit. What a cool character
It’s facially ridiculous to seriously suggest that Honda just has to hold down-back and not do anything. In some matchups Honda has to solve his opponents’ puzzles, in others he has to battle with his opponent to see who can set up the better puzzle, and in others he has to set up puzzles for the opponent, and yeah, I think that’s really cool.
Fireball, fireball, fireball, shoryuken is much better…
All characters have traps or counters that can be annoying.
Focusing your matches around the ochio will get you killed.
As a LONG TIME Honda player, I’ve had to deal with impossible matchups against Shotos and other projectile characters for years and years. But I never complained about those characters being too strong. Mismatches have always been a part of Street Fighter. You either deal with it or you switch characters.
Yeah, it would have been nice if HDR resolved some of these lopsided matches more. In general, the top tier in ST was weakened in HDR and the lower tiers in ST got stronger. I think mission was accomplished in that regard.
This patch will almost certainly just be bug fixes so Fei and Cammy players are just going to have to learn how to deal with Honda. Honda players still have to deal with projectile characters. Zangeif still has to deal with Dhalsim. All the whining in the world isn’t going to change anything at this point. I say get over it and try to adapt just like we’ve always had to do.
You’re missing the point. Honda doesnt have to do ANYTHING but hold down back. He doesnt have to worry about zoning, what pokes beat what, what to anti air with NOTHING. if you get close the one end all move is the jab headbutt. its not even a trap. COOL
Nope. Fact: you’re wrong. Honda can play defensively pretty well, but he can’t usually be the boring caricature of a turtle people like to claim he is. Why don’t you use the power of youtube to see what a match between Honda and whoever you think he can hold down-back on is really like?
block or do a neutral jumping punch
are you looking for a list of normals that beat headbutt besides jab?
or a list of moves with invincibility frames?
HB is great anti air, have to be careful with it vs grounded characters

But enough of that, was the release mentioning that they are working on an update? Or that an update was coming soon? It was too ambiguous. I can’t wait for any PS3 fixes that may be coming our way.
looks harder for cammy than fei
Anybody know if Sirlin will be involved in this? Sirlin was at the Starcraft UC Berkeley class. I should have gone and asked him… if only I knew and I wasn’t sick and I didn’t have to go to work.
That’s exactly what I mean. I’m not even talking about a good player beating everybody to the point where no one wants to play him, I’m talking about people kicking anybody that beats them in general. Majority system would definitely work better here.
